I have been taking KLOR-CON M 20 meg twice a day. One month ago I was told to increase to 2 20 meg twice a day (80 meg). I have been having what I believe is a great increase in the arthritis in my legs and feet. Could this be from the potassium? ## Hello, Mary! How are you? If your potassium level is still low, that could be what's causing the symptoms. Did they say how low it was, when they told you to increase the amount you're taking?

Is this medication available w/ out a prescription? ## Hello, Kitty! How are you? No, only low dose supplements are available over the counter. There can be severe health dangers from your potassium being either too high or too low, so the high dose supplements are only available via prescription. Is there anything else I can help with?

How many milligrams is 20 meq? ## Hi Julee, According to nih.gov, 1500 mg is equivalent to 20 mEq (when referring to Potassium Chloride ER Tablets). I'm not sure which, if any, other medications are also measured in milliequivalents, so if you could please post back with a specific brand name or generic drug in mind, it may be easier to determine if the above information still applies to you or not. Is anyone else familiar with this type of measurement?

I had a high normal level, my Nephrology she did not tell this. I take Klor-Con M20 x2 for potassium loss, spironolact 25mg a duretic for blood pressure, was on atacand for blood pressure now changed to Micardis 80mg for blood pressure and synthroid 88mg for thyroid. Had one side of thyroid removed in 2006, hysterectomy in 2004 and have nothing but health issures. Is Pot Chloride 10 meq Tab Sand the same as Pot Chloride 10 meq Tab Zydu? ## Yes, the abbreviations as the end, Sand and Zydu are just for the manufacturers of those particular ones. What time of day is this med best ingested ## The dosing instructions for this medication do not list a specific time of day that one should take it, so I assume that you can use it at your own convenience. The adult dosing information for Potassium Chloride is posted below in regards to 'Prevention of Hypokalemia': "Oral: 10 to 20 mEq orally once a day given in equally divided doses using formulations which include normal-release tablets or capsules, extended-release tablets or capsules, dissolvable tablets, oral solution or powder for dissolution mixed with an appropriate volume of water or juice."
