I was prescribed Pota chloride 8meq because I take Lasix for fluid retention and was told I needed to take a potassium supplement to replenish lost Potassium through the fluids I'll eliminate. Is there OTC potassium and natural foods I can take to just add potassium instead of continue to take the prescription?

There any many natural foods that contain generous amounts of potassium. I supposed the most popular food is bananas. They say roughly 4-5 medium sized bananas a day reaches the daily value for the average adult; however, I know that we're all different and require different amounts depending on our current levels, so there's no one-size fits all approach, outside of tailoring your diet to meet your unique needs.

Medjool dates are another excellent source of potassium. They are also quite low on the glycemic index chart (despite how sweet they are), making these a diabetic-friendly alternative to other sweets.

Spinach, avocado, cantaloupe, squash, prunes, brussel sprouts, lentils, zucchini, sweet potatoes, broccoli, apricots, oranges, eggplant, peas and even salmon are just a handful of options to consider as well.

Hope this helps!
