Pontalon Mefenamic Acid 250mg

I got a bad toothaches and was prescript Pontalon Mefenamic Acid 250mg, the next day i went for tooth extraction and wasn't given any medicine so i assume i need the same medication. Now after 2days i still having the pain from the gum even i took this medicine. is there anything wrong? i remember 2years back i went for a tooth extraction i was given mouth wash and medication for only 2days but it was perfect.

Have you consulted the dentist that did the extraction?

Mefenamic Acid is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory that can help with some pain and swelling, but how much it will help really depends on the extraction done. For instance what type of tooth it was and if there were any complications.

It can also take awhile for an extraction site to heal, especially if it was a front tooth, or a canine, as compared to a molar.

If you had a toothache due to an infection, that can also play a factor on how fast the pain leaves and how long it can take to heal.
