Pls Help I Need Urgent Advise

Hi, i been taking zolpidem 7.5mg every night and its going out controll. 6 a night i have to take now and i need to no if i started taking 5 a night for a week will those 5 still get me to sleep? I mean will it take a little long to fall asleep? I want to get down to at least 1 a night. Please no silly answers, taking me ages to build courage to ask this. Thank u all and god bless to you.

hi dave...sorry you're worried about the zolpidem, and that's good u told on yourself, even if it is to the crazy internet people, lol...i took zolpidem for a while and did not take as much as u do but some nights took more than i was supposed to because i felt i needed to...it is easy to build up a tolerance to most prescription sleep aids, other drugs, too, for that matter. u are smart to want to gradually taper down...i think u can do it faster than u think, though. aren't u going to run out?? how can u take so many and not run out super early?

i would start with taking 3 or 4 instead of 5, u can always take more, and also, in addition to the 3 or 4 zolpidem, is there any OTC sleep aid u can take with it? What about benadryl? It is easy to get sucked in with the strong stuff, and i am a recovering alcoholic, sober 6.5 years, and i struggled with terrible insomnia the first several years...if i can take over the counter meds like benadryl, i am sure lots of other people can too....try melatonin, also...not by itself, but take it with your ambien..;if u can't or dont want to use other sleep aids with it, i really would just try to get by with 3 or 4, and that is for a night or 2, not for a week...u aren't giving yourself enough credit, Dave...i think u can take less and taper down sooner than u think...also, please speak with your doctor about alternatives...personally, i think ambien is a little scary, and there are some really good meds out there! U might do well with trazadone...nrever hurts to ask! be well, be safe & never be afraid to ask....god bless!

Thanks for your reply and i have taken it on board.
When taking 6 i go to sleep in around half hour so my question is if i took 5 will i still go to sleep on them even thiugh i am still awake in half a hour or wil it take a little longer?

Well, first of all, you are taking far too many, but I believe you are already aware of that.

And yes, though it may not happen the first night, you will more than likely experience some issues falling asleep and staying asleep, if you abruptly cut the dosage.

Have you talked to a doctor about this? There is a chance that you've already done some organ damage.
