Stop encouraging drug use. When you do drugs you fry your brain cells. What does that mean, long term and short term effects. Short term means you will have a delayed reaction in thinking, you will have a horrible memory, and you will have trouble problem solving or putting things together. Long term, means dementia, schizophrenia, brain tumors and more. Don't let people convince you its safe if it's a pharmaceutical drug, heavy use of any drug is bad and you will become an addict if you don't realize the harm.

I have a few trazadone 50mg and I read that it helps with anxiety plus pain and sleep. My question is..I usually take xanax for my severe anxiety so is this pill similar to the effects of my xanax? Mostly just wondering in what way does it help with anxiety?

Thank you! Saying Trazadone is in the same field as methadone is inaccurate. It is an old antidepressant used often as a sleep aid. It has no pain relief effects except for aid with pain associated with depression.

Pliva 433 is 50mg trazodome. As stated already, it has a list of what it is used for.
Is it a narchotic (or like a narchotic) and going to do the happy pill thing? NO!
Some have said here its a synthetic opiud, idk if it is or not. However I have the feeling if it is, its much like coaco, it may have it but you'll never be able to ingest enough to feel any high at all.
So that being said, it is not really recreational unless you'd like to sleep through the party, in a lounge chair, while random people draw mustaches on your face after put shaving cream in your hand incase they can get a double whammy.

Y'all are killing me on this thread with all the posts of Trazodone and all the incorrect info re: Trazodone. I read here; Trazodone is a sleeping pill. No, it's a synthetic opioid. NO, it's a substitute for Methadone! Hulloooo, Trazodone was developed and marketed as an antidepressant tho it is good as a sleep aid. There's no opioid, synthetic or all natural in Trazodone, people. Read Cheyla's post about 10 posts down. It is prescribed for things other than depression but Trazodone is an antidepressant. End of story.

I don't know anything about illegal or illicit substances but I have experienced tracking. It makes motion look as if there is some kind of invisible strobe light that is causing you to see echo-ish trails following things (eg: your hands) that are in motion. For instance if this 0 were moving in your field of vision, instead of just seeing the 0 move from left to right you would see something like this ((((((((((0 and if the 0 were moving right to left, you would see something like this 0))))))))))). Do you get the picture? I thought this effect was quite entertaining but thoroughly inconvenient. I was told by a nurse that this is a side effect similar to "tracking like acid" - "Antidepressant Discontinuation Syndrome" is just "Withdrawal" under another name that is more convenient for those that legally produce drugs for money. The name was invented in the early 90's and widely distributed at a famous-name pharmaceutical conference. In early reports it was referred to as a “withdrawal reaction.”

WRONG! you're probably thinking of the other anti-psychotic that everyone gets prescribed these days for everything from depression to insomnia even though it was initially approved for use in psychosis, mania, and schizophrenia: Seroquel (quetiapine)
trazodone (brand name Desyrel) is and has always been an antidepressant. Most people found it too sedating at doses needed for anti-depressant efficacy, so nowadays it's used for sleep.

Thank you....I am also on a program for opiate abuse and never heard anything like this. My doctor prescribes me 50mg a night as needed for sleep. One of the biggest reasons he chose this medication was because its non addictive. Do your research people or call a pharmacy. If your taking it to get high your going to have no such luck, besides sleep. You people are morons. Im glad someone on here could actually provide the right information.

Trazadone is absolutely not an opiate what so ever. I am in a program to get OFF of opiates and was prescribed trazadone to help with sleep. It is an anti depressant which is probably more commonly prescribed as a sleep aid. People claiming its similar to methadone are just flat out morons and most likely they are thinking of tramadol which really isnt anything like methadone either so bottom line their just idiots.

It's not an anti-depressant, it's not an opiate.
In large doses it is prescribed as an anti-psychotic. However in low doses 50-100mg, it is the best sleep medicine I've ever found. You don't do things you don't remember, you go to sleep and stay asleep, and you don't wake up hung-over.
Also, it is not addicting at all. If it can work for a life-long insomniac like me, it is the best sleep medicine ever. And you can get a 3 month supply at Wal-Mart for $10.
