Pfizer are doing 20mg white oblong TABLETS in India. So far I have had 2 tabs and no adverse effects so far, thank God. I am taking it for a traumatic tendonitis on the side of my knee.
I have upper back pain and just started the piroxicam 2 days ago. How long does it take to work, and does it need to build up in your system to take effect? I take it with food. It's 10 mg, once a day.
Piroxicam is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory, you can learn more about it on this site by clicking the drug name, and on Medline Plus.
Chris, yes, it has been known to cause photosensitivity in some people that take it, though it is not considered a common side effect, it has also been known to cause skin rashes. If you cannot avoid sun exposure, it would be best to make regular use of a good sunscreen.
It would also be a good idea to have your doctor look at the spots to make sure there isn't some other cause.
Maureen, no, it should start to have some effect about half an hour after you take it, since it is in the same medication class as Advil, or Aleve, just stronger, so it requires a prescription. Has it helped you, at all, yet?
