It's probably not working anymore. The recommend time to take Phentermine is 3 months because your body becomes immune to it. You can stop taking it for a few months...and then get back on it. It should start working again. It's a dangerous drug and shouldn't be taken that long. It should be used to help jump start weight loss in conjunction with proper diet and exercise. You will most definitely gain the weight back if you depend on these "forever."I lost 45 pounds in 15the weeks on this. Did not take after the 3 months. Proud to say I've kept every pound off with diet and exercise. I just NOW got back on them after 7 months of not taking it as a MAINTENANCE pill. Don't want or need to lose weight, just to get my cravings for food under control again. Good luck! It's a GREAT weight loss pill if taken properly! (:

do you have to go on it every year? Did you crave food after your 3months were over? I hope not.

I have been on phentermine for 1 1/2 months I have lost 20 lbs, have more energy. The first week was dry mouth and foggy thinking but now , I can concentrate more than ever and actually believe I can live without over eating. I dont think about food as a stress reliever. I hope it keeps going and I stay at the lower weight after my 3 months is up.

I have been taking phentermine for just about 2 weeks and have lost nothing. My dr. Told me to take 1 pill and work up to 2 pills a day. I'm 5'9" 220 lbs. I think I'm drinking enough water. I'm watching my food intake as well as my carb in take. What am I doing wrong? Could my period being do have something to do with it?

One of the "Serious" side effects is swollen tongue/allergic reaction. You should stop taking it immediately! It's not for everyone.

"COMMON side effects when using Phentermine:

Bad taste in mouth; changes in sex drive; constipation; diarrhea; difficulty sleeping; dizziness; dry mouth; exaggerated sense of well being; headache; impotence; nervousness; overstimulation; restlessness; sleeplessness; upset stomach.

Seek medical attention right away if any of these SEVERE side effects occur when using Phentermine:

Severe allergic reactions (rash; hives; itching; difficulty breathing; tightness in the chest; swelling of the mouth, face, lips, or tongue); bizarre behavior; chest pain; fainting; fast heartbeat; pounding in the chest; shortness of breath; swelling of the legs and feet; tremor."

I think side effects vary. I've stopped taking it because of sores on my tongue and waking up in the middle of the night and can't go back to sleep. I was told I'd get used to it but didn't.

I've decided it must be dehydration and it's unique in it's symptoms to the individual. Drink LOTS of water. It should get better.
I am having some issues sleeping through the night when I take it every day so I have to skip a few days and only take a 1/2 a pill.

Sandy, it is normal to experience what you are. They call it cotton mouth. It does go away. Be patient. :)

Did anyone respond to this post? I'm experiencing very dry mouth - no matter how much I drink and my tongue has little blisters on the tip. I know it's from the medicine because they went away when I stopped taking it for a bit. I love the suppressant effect but not the sores on my tongue

it is phentermine 37.5mg. googled it.

I have taken phentermine twice before and had really goood results, but then i had my thyroid removed and gained the weight back regardless of diet and excerise so i am on it again since my thyroid levels are stable and am feeling great. my sister lost 55 lbs on it recently as well.

I have been on Phen off and on for many years. I do get a swollen tongue as well, but not every time. I didn't realize that it could be due to dehydration. I'm going off of it for the weekend and start back up on Monday. We will see what happens with me drinking lots of water all weekend.

Carla, is your tongue still swollen? I haven't read all the side effects of phen but it sounds like you're having a reaction to it. Have you ever had this happen w/ this med? is there someone there w/you? and for the fruit, I would not eat the more acidic ones as they are obviously not being very nice to your dehydrated & swollen tongue. Right Now, try & drink large glass of water & continue drinking lots everyday. please let us know ure alright...swollen tongues are scary!

I have recently started taking phen. again. I am also experiencing sores on my tongue and a swollen tongue, expecially hurts when I eat fruits or brush my teeth. I have looked at other boards, and sorry to see that this happens to lots of other people, even the toothpaste part. Seems like most people with these symptoms are experiencing a very dry mouth, not enough water.
