Phentermine Anyone Have Strange Side Effects? (Page 2) (Top voted first)
UpdatedI just started taking this medicine for weight loss. I am having hot flashes and cold chills, terrible headache and a tingly head. I feel awful. Has anybody taken this and had the same reaction? If so did it pass after a few days? Gotta say this...I am not ever hungry! Like to hear from anyone that has taken this med. Thanks :)
I am on 37.5 for 1 week now and I cant stay awake to save my life!!!! i am so very sleepy and not alert at all. How do i get the energy that everyone is talking about?!!
33 year old female
I have been on phentermine for 15 days now... I am a 20 year old woman, 5'7" and my start weight was 188.7 lbs. The first few days of taking phentermine were great, I had high energy, no hunger or cravings. By the 5th day, I had zero energy, I got winded by walking ten feet, my vision goes blurry, sometimes I see bright neon lights, other times its just black. I can't catch my breath, my heart rate is always up, hot flashes all the time, I get dizzy and nauseated throughout the day. My ears won't pop, I have some knots at the base of my skull and they are causing headaches, I have had a tooth ache for the past 5 days, I am more easily irritated, my hands and feet and face occasionally will go numb, and I feel like I just can't for words into sentences or thoughts when I am speaking. So, I'm 15 days in, I weighed myself this morning at 171.1 lbs. So I've lost about 17 pounds in about two weeks. In the first week, I lost 14 pounds alone, this week was slower so that's good. Anyone have any suggestions of what foods to eat that help the most with all the side effects? And no matter how much water I drink, my mouth is always dry too!
Hi Bre! My doc started me on 37.5mg.That is the max dose. She will only let me have them for 2 months.Today I took half in the morning and took half at 2.I think I dont feel as bad as I did yesterday.I was realy hoping for more energy! Bre,how much weight have you lost in the two months you have been on them?Thank you for answering me! :)
I just started taking it and I am having really bad hot flashes. Did it go away?
I got over the crappy feeling in a week the only symptoms that stayed was dry mouth and not falling esleep I was on it Feb 2012 to July 2012 and lost 60 pounds I took 3 months off and 10 pounds came back and I started up again a week ago no symptoms this time except energy seems to wore off quicker in the day then last time which is good a
nd bad good cause no insomnia but bad cause I am soooo tired at night but wake up refreshed so all in all no complaints :)
5 days for me.. and i am VERY irritable, moody.. crying spells.. hate that !
Yes sweating is a common side effect. My husband got that but luckily I dont. He stopped taking it because he would sweat and smell AWFUL right after a shower. Literally he would shower just before work on his lunch break and when he got home and he still smelled bad from sweat.
Me personally have not had this happen but im stopping it today from the other awful things its doing to me like racing heart dizzy/fainting spells and blurred vision. I was prescribed 37.5mg/day but only take half that every other day and cant handle it. Im going with straight up diet and exercise now.. im losing weight to be healthy and this is NOT healthy.
Good luck to you all
My husband had same problem and the phentermine was he only medication he was on and only change he had made. He also had a lot of pain inhis testicles. It started around his 3Rd month. He quit taking them and within 48 hrs after symptoms subsided.
Hi my name is Viki I have been on the phen for about six weeks
my main complaint is I cannot get my feet warm, driving me nuts. any suggestions
25.4 pounds down since Jan9-16
I have been taking 37.5 in the am for 3 weeks.
In the afternoons I feel extremely fatigue, tired n with no energy. Also feel like I'm going to faint. Can't even walk for more than 20min without feeling like I must sit. Why is this happening?
I took it for 6 months about a year ago and I lost 25 lbs. my anxiety got worse and I got the shakes. The energy was awesome but it's definitly hard to sleep. I started back up Friday and I'm still feeling like I'm speeding. Hopefully it stops after the first week like the last time. Any tips to help with the side effects?
I have been taking phentermine 37.5 since October 20, 2012. I'm female, 5'4" and weighed 189 pounds. I was determined not to cross into 200. I am at 161 pounds now. A loss of 28 pounds in four months. I lost 17 in the first month. its been harder since then. I eat smart and exercise. I try to stay at 1200 calories or less. I didnt realize plain water was so important. ALL I ever drink is unsweet tea. I love this pill. But it is a lifestyle change, not a miracle pill. My worst side effects have been icy cold hands and constipation. Until now. I have become easily irritated and able to cry in a second. I truly am easygoing and havent cried 2 times in the last 5 years, until now. I have cried every day. I plan on taking it one more month. But to me, the weight loss is worth having to cry through the next 11 pounds I lose! Nothing else has ever worked. I even skipped the month of December taking it because I had a little cold. i am being monitored by a doctor in 30 day supplies.
Hi everyone, my name is Destiny.
I lost 96lbs on 37.5mg phentermine, once a day.
After the year mark and it seems like now.. if I take it, I experience extreme side effects.
EXTREME anxiety. Ill get dizzy, light headed and my resting heartbeat (while setting still) is 115-130bpm.
More than that its hard to breathe (I think bcs my heart is racing) but its like im HUNGRY for air!! I will struggle to get a deep breath. scary stuff.
I want to get bck on phentermine and have tried (under dr care). but the side effects are just to much, scary.
I didnt have these side effects the entire year that I was on phen, it started after my 1yr check up. Idk if my body just hates the med now or what?. thoughts....
I just began taking Phentermine 37.5 Monday. I was really excited monday because I had to force myself to eat (I usually snack a ton during the day out of boredom especially during the summer because I'm a college student and only have to work when school is in session). But that night I started noticing a bunch of side effects. I had constant goosebumps and had cold sweats, I was really hyper, I felt nervous and had butterflies in my stomach, I kept feeling lightheaded and my scalp tingled when touched, and i had dry mouth. Then it got really weird, my teeth started hurting terribly! It hurt so badly I was afraid they were going to fall out or something! I took a sleeping pill that night, in hopes of easing my anxiety, it didn't work. I only slept for three hours! Those sleeping pills usually make me sleep for 12 hours and make me feel groggy all day! I took my pill before breakfast Tuesday and went to the zoo. All the symptoms came back mildly, except for my teeth! They hurt even worse than the day before! I spent most of my time at the zoo checking to see if my teeth were loose. I asked my mom about all my symptoms and she said the pain was a side effect of dry mouth. I skipped my pill this morning (Wednesday) in hopes of curing the side effects. No such luck, while they are much more infrequent today I still find myself getting goosebumps and sweating. My teeth still hurt but nowhere near as badly, and it's currently 4:30am and I'm typing this instead of sleeping, so the insomnia is still there. My mom says she thinks phentermine is basically LEGAL SPEED! So, I'm definitely calling my doctor ASAP! It just really sucks because I had struggled dieting in the past and i had already begun losing weight on Phentermine! I wish there was another pill that worked this well!
I just started taking the 37.5 today. I had taken it previously Bout two months ago dr supervised. I started with half pill for a wk then up to full pill. The side effects at first were very dry mouth and headaches, but then turned into esophagus pain and extreme sensitivity to pain. I have fatty liver disease and the pain became unbearable and acid reflux became very apparent with the extreme esophagus pain and feeling of food stuck in my throat. I would sweat all day and night and racing heart beat, but i never hungry and drank about a 80-100oz water daily. I never had a point where i had alot of energy. But i did lose about 8lbs the first two wks. I am giving this another try hoping the side effects will mellow the second time around. Now that i know what to expect from it. I can already feel the fullness in my esophagus after taking the pill only 30min ago! I am going to stick with the half pill for a while to see how it goes. I weigh 258 i am trying to get to 240. I have desired to have the gastric surgery and with my thyroid condition and the liver issue which cause digestion problems i have not been able to lose any weight while not on the phentermine. So this is my last try at this with the phentermine! Going to stick it out hopefully. Thanks for sharing ur stories
I'm a 44 year old female 45 in few months.
Today is Day 6 for me on 37.5 with a B-12 shot ( will be getting B-12 shots every week). Started off at 179.8 lbs and today 169.2 lbs. loss of 10.6 lbs

Had enough energy to start exercising
My libido seems to be returning after 2 years
My hair isn't falling out everyday in bunches like it use to.
Appetite is under control.
Weight loss of 10.6 lbs in 6 days
Cons:
I was due to get my period 2 days after I started but it hasn't came. Not pregnant my husband been fixed for 15 years.
I've been getting cold for the past 3 days towards the night but I take a warm shower and it goes away.
Dry mouth and very thirsty. Drinking lots and lots of water..
Slept about 5 hours each night for the first 4 nights.
Overall love how fast my body and life is changing in a good way. The side affects are nothing extreme as of now.
Will get my second B12 on Tuesday.
Hi I just started phentermine Tuesday and it's Friday. I am extremely tired and feel very drogy. I don't understand why I feel this way, my Dr said he has never heard of it. Anyone else have this issue?
I am taking the 37.mg this stuff has a horrible crash, similar to recreational drugs that are uppers. When it really kicks in I feel like I'm tweaking, like pacing, peeking out the windows tweaking. It also has a fiend element to it, I find myself trying to talk my self into taking more and cutting a day out along the line. This is only day 2!! Idk about this crap.
It's weird you said that about your tongue, because I've noticed I can't stop making tiny bubbles with the saliva in my mouth when I take phentermine. I get hot flashes, and a tingly head also. I've noticed I can' speak clearly too.
I just started taking Adipex-p but my weight loss Dr was very descriptive in how to take it so I thought I would pass this info on. He said I could drink coffee or coke but not both because it would diminish the effects of the phentermine. Like drink water most of the day a lot of water and one cup of coffee or soft drink a day. He also told me no diet soft drinks. He also mentioned that early in the morning for the first 3 days eat breakfast then wait 30 minutes then take half a pill. (I'm on 37.5 dose). Days 4 thru 7 I'm supposed to eat wait 30 then take half, then at lunch same thing take other half 30 minutes after eating. He said never take it after 1pm cause you'll have problems sleeping. Then after day 8 I'm supposed to take one tablet 30 minutes after I eat breakfast between 8 and 9 am. I haven't had any problems but I do get cold chills but their not that bad I just put on a sweater or something. I'm drinking a lot of water so maybe that's why I haven't had any other problems. And maybe because I'm eating first is why I don't feel bad. They also give me lipotropic inj's to take home with me that have several vitamins in it like b12 - boosts energy, b6 - helps to reduce fluid retention, choline - metabolizes fat, inositol - deficiency of inositol can lead to hair loss caffeine may cause depletion of inositol, methionine - it works with choline to detoxify amines which are the byproducts of protein metabolism. It acts as a catalyst for choline and inositol opening up their functions. Along with choline, it aids in reducing liver fat and protects the kidneys. I go to Dr Summer's weight loss clinic in Alabama and he's great. I hope this helps someone who is having problems. He's got me on a 1200 Cal diet with low carbs and high protein. A lot of my Co workers went to him with success so I thought I would try it out. I do notice I get a lot more energy at work then at home (I'm an assistant manager of a food restaurant so I move around a lot at work) so I believe the person that said clean your house after you take it. When I take steroids when I'm sick it's the same thing. If I'm energetic after I take them I get energy. The info packet lists the side effects and says most are mild and will usually improve or go away completely after your body adjusts to the medication. Good luck everyone.
