Phentermine Anyone Have Strange Side Effects? (Page 4) (Top voted first)

Updated

I just started taking this medicine for weight loss. I am having hot flashes and cold chills, terrible headache and a tingly head. I feel awful. Has anybody taken this and had the same reaction? If so did it pass after a few days? Gotta say this...I am not ever hungry! Like to hear from anyone that has taken this med. Thanks :)

I had a headache the first night I am on 30mg capsules and yes I am never hungry either but make sure u eat something and drink water i have cut out things that I used to eat. I don't go to gym or anything but I am up and active now I am not sleeping half the day . The headache is gone I did have a tingle sensation thru my whole body almost felt like I was drunk the first day. I think after my first 20 lbs are gone I will go to
Lower dose so I don't build a tolerance then loose 10 lbs that way and then get my additional 20
Lbs with the higher dose again . I will continue eatin right and hopefully keep te weight off . I don't have major side effects I took advil for my headache

I started taking Phentermine (37.5mg) on Aug 7th. By August 17th I felt so horrible I quit taking it. My heart was racing and I just felt generally bad all over. Talked with my doctor about it and he asked me to resume the medication and we'd touch base in two weeks. So, reluctantly, I started taking them again on Oct 3rd and haven't missed a pill yet. To date, I've lost 24 pounds. I am pleased that the ill feelings never came back. The dry mouth is constant. I always have a glass of water with me while I'm home. I work from home, so that's pretty much all the time. I've experienced any headaches, but I do keep hydrated. I also get these smells and tastes, seemingly phantom. Very strange smell too. Nothing I've smelt before. It's annoying, but easy enough to cope with.

The problem I'm MOST concerned with is erectile dysfunction that seems to have joined the party. I've heard it happens, and that "your body will adapt and function will return". I read in earlier comments about seaman leakage, I haven't seen that, hope it's not in my future. Also saw a mention of impotence, but no clue as to how long before I can start to hope to get past this. Because this will be a deal breaker. So, anyone?

I forgot to mention below my husband also was on it with me in the same time he lost 61 lbs also but he had the chills and always being cold insomnia and for men slight erectile disfunction as after once he was done not by choice since we started back those symptoms haven't returned thank god and he feels wonderful lots of energy no joint pain but he is wired at night cause he works late shift so it will take time to adjust to schedule and the dry mouth and bad breath from that sucks a lil good luck everyone it is working for us hope it does for you I am 27 from my end of the yr goal I set that's with 3 month break off and my hubby is 30 lbs from his end of the yr goal total he has lost 100lbs total in his journey and me 70 it works for sure

This is day one for me, I am very pleased as I don't have the urge to munch on snack although I do still need to eat a meal. My strange side effect is very cold (ice cold) hands and feet.

I think you have to go to a diet clinic where they check your BMI (Body Mass Index) and determine if you are overweight enough for a prescription

I was on my third week of this stuff last week and I have to say it really did help stop my appetite and I lost 9 pounds in THREE weeks!! HOWEVER... I could not stand up fast without feeling like I was going to pass out plus my vision would go black for a few seconds as soon as I stood up. I was super dehydrated! It was like I couldn't get enough water. I couldn't stop getting chills out of the blue for no reason. I was very constipated to the point where my stomach hurt so bad I wasn't sure if it was from not eating much b/c I never felt the urge to eat or b/c I hadn't went to the bathroom in a week?!?! I only have 14 more pounds to go. I really wish I could stay on it to help but it scares me and isn't worth feeling like I'm going to pass out...

I went to the dr yesterday and since April I have lost 26 pounds! I have gone from 270 to 244. My first month it was very hard to eat, wasn't hungry at all, and that was my month of biggest weight loss. Since then I eat but I'll have 1/2 a sandwich and some applesauce or at dinner I'll have a small portion of meat, a spoonful of potatoes or whatever starch we're having and a couple spoonfuls of veggies. Breakfast is still hard as I have never been a breakfast person but I'll try to have a bowl of cereal, toast with jam or a piece of fruit. I went off it for a week and was worried about gaining weight but I didn't, I still ate the small portions and felt full. The hot flashes have finally gone away and my sleeping has returned to normal. I take my pill first thing in the morning but if I miss it, I forget sometimes lol, if I remember before noon I'll take it but if its after noon I won't cuz I will be up 1/2 the night!

Linda, are you eating the right kind of food on this pill. Also even though you may not feel like it you need to maintain a minimum of 1200 calories. You may be depriving your body of proper nutrition. I hope everything goes well for you.

I'm a caffeine junky but when I started taking it my dr told me to take 1/2 a pill for I think it was the first week then to start taking a whole one. She also said to take it for 3-4 days then skip 2-3 days. I've been doing this since march or April and I've lost over 40 pounds so far. I know if I had started off on a whole pill I would have been wired! I still have trouble going to sleep but if I get it set in my mind I'm going to bed at a certain time I usually don't have trouble, and I don't take mine until around 9:30-10am.

I had a day like that a few weeks ago and I've been on the stuff since March or April. It was one of the worst feelings I have felt, and I've had a baby! I could not find a thing that made it better but it was gone the next day. I honestly don't think it matters that you took a whole one. I take mine for 4-5 days then I go 2-3 days without it. I can only take 1/2 on the days I work cuz if I take a
whole one I will become so sick when I start getting hot. On the days we go to the beach I take half cuz even sitting in the sun getting hot makes me sick. I've lost almost 45 lbs since march so it's definitely worth if.

I have taken addipex (phentermine) 37.5 mg off and on for about 2 years. I get goosebumps just appear very shortly after taking my dose and the the "chills" set in like I will be tingly pretty much all over. I also get cold sweats and cannot seem to find a comfortable temperature. I am almost overwhelmed with energy. Like you said you are never hungry well I too feel that way afterwords but for the first hour or so I could eat a horse!! Now for the strange side effects I become very aroused and cannot seem to control that one bit. My testicles also seem to become very sensitive and I have semen in my urine every time I need to urinate. I can also say that I have went 3 days without any sleep but do not feel tired or fatigued in doing this, I just crash really hard when I do however. Despite any of the side effects phentermine is probably one of the most amazing drugs ever. I have lost all the weight I wanted to loose plus some. I was never extremely fat but never happy with my weight I am 6' 3" and I weighed 301lbs I was just a big dude with a beer gut from college I now weigh 230lbs and am in the best shape of my life and I still take phentermine from time to time. I would be excited to find out if any other dudes experienced some of the stranger side effects I mentioned above, I have searched the internet and found that yes these things can and have happened to others but I've not really talked to anyone else who experienced the arousal and semen in the urine part, So please if any guys have had the same happen please share your experience

Hello all. I just started the phentermine 37.5 mg once a day on Oct 7th. Tomorrow marks 3 weeks and i have lost 21 lbs. I have dry mouth and a headache sometimes if i neglect the water i need to be drinking, but other then that i feel great! And with this 21 lbs off, I'm starting to get that extra drive showing me that I CAN do this for myself. I started at 255lbs and i am now 234 lbs. My goal will be to get down to 140, and i think age is on my side (23yo.. or at least i hope it is..). I let myself go when i had my kiddos and then when i lost my dad I packed the lbs on through my depression. The problem I am having is my doctor only prescribed me a 30 days script and i want to lose about 40-50 lbs on the pill, taper off and then go full force in the gym and finish the rest on my own.. My question for everyone is without a script for it from my doctor am I pretty much SOL? Thank you!

Yes I've been on it 5 months same symptoms drink lots and lots of water if you don't these could be signs of dehydration but ask you dr I see mine once a week I get my blood pressure and weight checked weekly avoid getting phentermine on line there are weight loss clinics that do blood work ups and ask family history you need make sure you DO NOT have high blood pressure or DO NOT have a bad thyroid as soon as you lose the weight you need to be weened off phentermine it is addictive and you do not want to take with out care of a MD because he could give you phen D or something else and you need to be on high protein low carb diet watch sugar intake I can't stress how important go to phentermine weightloss clinic and get every thing all questions answered because I could cause mood swing as well it's only 48 dollars a month with a groupon

I had taken phentermine for almost 6 months. I lost 133 lbs in 2 years. The first I lost the 100 and the second the 33. I have gained back 16. That's all. And I know it's because I made bad choices in my diet. And I also did not work out as often. I started back at eating better and working out and in 2 weeks I'm down 5lbs. I know so many people say this med works but you will gain it all back. I can say that this is not true for me. If you keep talking with your doctor. Making healthy choices. Working out, phentermine can and will work for some. I'm not saying all. I'm saying it worked for me. I loved this medicine. It helped me when I didn't want weight loss surgery. And I wanted to work for it. I hope that anyone who questions it gives it an honest try.
