I just started taking this medicine for weight loss. I am having hot flashes and cold chills, terrible headache and a tingly head. I feel awful. Has anybody taken this and had the same reaction? If so did it pass after a few days? Gotta say this...I am not ever hungry! Like to hear from anyone that has taken this med. Thanks :)
Yes sweating is a common side effect. My husband got that but luckily I dont. He stopped taking it because he would sweat and smell AWFUL right after a shower. Literally he would shower just before work on his lunch break and when he got home and he still smelled bad from sweat.
Me personally have not had this happen but im stopping it today from the other awful things its doing to me like racing heart dizzy/fainting spells and blurred vision. I was prescribed 37.5mg/day but only take half that every other day and cant handle it. Im going with straight up diet and exercise now.. im losing weight to be healthy and this is NOT healthy.
Good luck to you all
This is my second month of taking the 37.5's. I only have 2 complaints and neither are a big deal. My first is the sweating. OMG the sweating lol it's worse than hot flashes! Second is the lack of sleep. I'm up between 7:30-8 everyday and every night I'm awake in bed till 4am the earliest, but I'm never tired! My dr told me to take one a day for 4-5 days then go off it for 2-3 days. This seems to be working good for me. No headaches, no chills, bothers other than the two mentioned reasons. Does anyone else have an issue with the excessive sweating? I change shirts 2-3 times a day if not more. The sweat runs down my scalp, my back, legs , face. All over. It's so gross!
Im taking it to my mouth is really dry and always have to unrinate but thats it well i had a headache the first day
I took Phentermine many years ago and was able to lose a little over 40 pounds in 2 months. But then I had my youngest two children and I gained that weight back. I just started back on 37.5 about 2 months ago.I have lost 15 pounds and have no side effects. But the weight loss is not coming off as quickly as before. When I spoke to my doctor about it he suggested that I take it twice a day now. I just began that today. I will continue to take it until the doctor either stops it or I reach my goal. To me this is the answer to weight loss. I sincerely hope all of you having side effects will find they subside after awhile.
Hi everyone, my name is Destiny.
I lost 96lbs on 37.5mg phentermine, once a day.
After the year mark and it seems like now.. if I take it, I experience extreme side effects.
EXTREME anxiety. Ill get dizzy, light headed and my resting heartbeat (while setting still) is 115-130bpm.
More than that its hard to breathe (I think bcs my heart is racing) but its like im HUNGRY for air!! I will struggle to get a deep breath. scary stuff.
I want to get bck on phentermine and have tried (under dr care). but the side effects are just to much, scary.
I didnt have these side effects the entire year that I was on phen, it started after my 1yr check up. Idk if my body just hates the med now or what?. thoughts....
This medication is horrible, after six days I am quitting it. This is METH. Period. No wonder Meth is out of control in America. Not worth risking your health.
It comes back on even if u eat right after u stop taking it? Because I changed my whole diet.
If you keep eating the same things that made you heavy before the pills then YES you will gain the weight right back.
If you are not ready to make better food choices during and after pill usage then that means that unfortunately you are just wasting your $$ and your weight loss will only be temporary.
I think you have to go to a diet clinic where they check your BMI (Body Mass Index) and determine if you are overweight enough for a prescription
I have been taking phentermine 37.5 since October 20, 2012. I'm female, 5'4" and weighed 189 pounds. I was determined not to cross into 200. I am at 161 pounds now. A loss of 28 pounds in four months. I lost 17 in the first month. its been harder since then. I eat smart and exercise. I try to stay at 1200 calories or less. I didnt realize plain water was so important. ALL I ever drink is unsweet tea. I love this pill. But it is a lifestyle change, not a miracle pill. My worst side effects have been icy cold hands and constipation. Until now. I have become easily irritated and able to cry in a second. I truly am easygoing and havent cried 2 times in the last 5 years, until now. I have cried every day. I plan on taking it one more month. But to me, the weight loss is worth having to cry through the next 11 pounds I lose! Nothing else has ever worked. I even skipped the month of December taking it because I had a little cold. i am being monitored by a doctor in 30 day supplies.
I am on 37.5 for 1 week now and I cant stay awake to save my life!!!! i am so very sleepy and not alert at all. How do i get the energy that everyone is talking about?!!
33 year old female
WOW, that dose 3X a day is EXCESSIVELY HIGH. My Dr. started me on the 37.5mg 1 X a day and that is good for me. I take it at about 9:00 a.m. and it gives me energy all day, and I do not crave food at all. I have taken it for about 3 weeks and I know I have lost at least 15 pounds, I drink lots of water and am using the pills to help get in the habbit of eating less and healthier. I have been getting heart palpitations in the evening and my face feels hot, but during the day I feel great. I am surprised that I have those symptoms at night when the pill should be wearing off....BUT overall I am VERY happy w/ this drug b/c it's the first time that I am NOT fighting food cravings. I am very excited to lose the weight.
I have the same symptoms.. this drug does make u feel awful.. This is the 3rd time I have used Phentermine to lose weight.. u will lose weight for sure but everybody beware as soon as u stop taking it the weight comes back on fast and furious.. even heavier than before taking the drug....
Yesterday got light headed, stomach ache, period started,am on a birth control that i hardly ever have a period.have to force myself to drink water, attitude was terrible, doctor told me to do half of a pill. Now am feeling normal again, hope this last.
This is day one for me, I am very pleased as I don't have the urge to munch on snack although I do still need to eat a meal. My strange side effect is very cold (ice cold) hands and feet.
Started Christmas eve weighed in at 188 now 12/26/2012 weigh 181 ,no side effects noticeable ,before meds was having issues being sleepy at noon, now up and alert all day, only day three but very beneficial thus far dont have any hunger desire .Everyone is different!
This is for Peter's post dated 10/23/12: I, too, am having a phantom smell! Background: I began the Phen (15mg) in late October and had headaches for the first few days, which subsided, and the consistent dry mouth (as has everyone, so that's normal) with no other side effects, and have been overall happy and successful with the weight loss results, but when my doctor switched me to the 37.5mg pill on 12/05/12 (I split it in half and take two 18.75mg doses a day), 4 days into it, I started smelling "something." I was getting into my truck in a parking lot and this smell hit me, strong and hard. I thought maybe someone had smoked a cigarette next to my parked vehicle and threw it down close to my truck (you know how that nasty smell creeps into things?) but it's been 4 days now and I still smell it! It smells like cigarette smoke or cigarette ash (YUCK!)—it's hard to describe/explain. It gets stronger at times, and seems to be weaker in the mornings. It has to be the change in the Phen; nothing else is different. It's the weirdest thing. Anyone else out there experiencing this? And for everyone taking the 37.5mg dose w/bad effects: my doctor advised me NEVER to take that in one dose as it will be too strong—try cutting them in half and taking 18.75mg 2x/day
Do you want to sell them. I've had great results. {editor's note: we do not allow the buying or selling of products through our discussion threads}
Not good to take. Had similar experiences. Does not disappear til you stop taking.
Ive taken this drug for over 3 years. It does make you loose weight but drinking water is ESSENTIAL for the weight loss and your health. I found my good amount was a liter and a half per day...alot of water I know but after some research I found that without alot of water, toxins build up from the weight being burned off and cant be flushed out of the body properly...which causes all those nasty physical side effects like hot/cold sweats, irritablity, nausea...etc etc... I noticed my period cramps were horrible when on this drug vs not taking it. Also for anyone thinking about stopping this drug...you must come down easy! half a pill, then every other day, drag it out over 2 week period or your body goes into shock and you will feel crappy. Quitting cold turkey also makes it harder for the drug to start working again if you decide to resume taking it in the future. I hope Ive helped!
