Phentermine Anyone Have Strange Side Effects? (Page 14)

I just started taking this medicine for weight loss. I am having hot flashes and cold chills, terrible headache and a tingly head. I feel awful. Has anybody taken this and had the same reaction? If so did it pass after a few days? Gotta say this...I am not ever hungry! Like to hear from anyone that has taken this med. Thanks :)

I have taken addipex (phentermine) 37.5 mg off and on for about 2 years. I get goosebumps just appear very shortly after taking my dose and the the "chills" set in like I will be tingly pretty much all over. I also get cold sweats and cannot seem to find a comfortable temperature. I am almost overwhelmed with energy. Like you said you are never hungry well I too feel that way afterwords but for the first hour or so I could eat a horse!! Now for the strange side effects I become very aroused and cannot seem to control that one bit. My testicles also seem to become very sensitive and I have semen in my urine every time I need to urinate. I can also say that I have went 3 days without any sleep but do not feel tired or fatigued in doing this, I just crash really hard when I do however. Despite any of the side effects phentermine is probably one of the most amazing drugs ever. I have lost all the weight I wanted to loose plus some. I was never extremely fat but never happy with my weight I am 6' 3" and I weighed 301lbs I was just a big dude with a beer gut from college I now weigh 230lbs and am in the best shape of my life and I still take phentermine from time to time. I would be excited to find out if any other dudes experienced some of the stranger side effects I mentioned above, I have searched the internet and found that yes these things can and have happened to others but I've not really talked to anyone else who experienced the arousal and semen in the urine part, So please if any guys have had the same happen please share your experience

It varies for everyone. I lost 12 lbs my forst month, then I think 8 the next then 6 and now it's 2-4 a month. I hardly ate my first 2 months cuz I was never hungry. I slowly started eating again but about 1/4 of what my roommate eats, then I'm full

I was prescribed Phentermine 37.5 today and took my first one around three this afternoon...I don't sleep anyway so I didn't really see the big deal. So far I have experience this God AWFUL headache that seems to keep coming and going, dry mouth and this weird taste....I was given this medication to lose the 25 pounds that I gained in TWO months while taking Effexor. My normal weight is between 125 and 130 and I am just wondering about how much should I expect to lose in a month? Thanks guys!

You take 2 whole ones a day? That's why you feel like you're having a heart attack! I would be willing to bet that's why you have some of the other side effects also. I took 1 1/2 once and I thought I was having a heart attack. One just wasn't working so I thought I'd try 1 1/2. Bad idea. Took a week off from taking it then went back to my normal of taking it for 3-4 days then going off it for 2-3 days and haven't had any more issues. Been on it for 6-7 months and the first 2 months were the roughest as far as side effects. Seriously though, I would not take 2 a day, that's a good way to have a heart attack! Just my opinion though.

yep started it 2 days ago and i have all that plus like 6 more side effects.i feel like i'm going to have a heart attack at times and i only take 2 a day.

I'm a 31/F. Heaviest weight: 250, current weight: 200, goal weight: 175. I always take my pill within an hour of waking up. The biggest problem I had was the dry mouth, but as long as you drink TONS of water, amount of water you should at least consume: (your weight) / 2= minimum amount of oz of water you should drink a day, it shouldn't be too terrible. For those of you with having trouble sleeping, take half the pill and see how that affects your sleep, and if you still are able to control the hunger, if it works just take half the pill and DON'T take the other half throughout the day. Another thing I found is I'm much more jazzed to stay busy, which I think helps me sleep (I don't have a problem sleeping, some days I stay up a little later than others but that's more to a 2 year old running around problem. lol). I work out, by push mowing half an acre of grass, ride my bike several times a week with a toddler trailer connected up and down hills for several miles, and heavy weight lift 2-3 times a week. I've lost 50 lbs in 8 months (and only actually been applying myself to taking it everyday in the past 4 months).
Another trick my DR said to do is after I feel I'm "stuck on a plateau" to go off the pill for a week or so and still watch my intake during that time, then go back onto the pill, and it should help boost that weight loss. I need to lose another 50 to be at my "BMI ideal weight" but honestly I'd be extremely happy at another 20-30 because then I'd be back at my high school weight.

As for the manufacturer/different pills aspect...ABSOLUTELY!

Wal-Mart is who I have always taken the Tablet from, for some reason they were on back order for an indeterminate amount of time, found out that WalGreens and Wal-Mart use the same manufacturer/distributor so I had to go to CVS. Those were a waste of my time and money. At Wal-Mart their generic is elongated oval (not very oval but more elongated) and many blue specks, CVS is nearly a 1/3 smaller and very oval shaped with less blue specks. I usually only have to take 1/2 of Wal-Marts generic and it last me all day (and on busy days I will take a whole pill) with no grumbly tummy. CVS pill I was getting the grumbly tummy within hours and it gave me no boost whatsoever, that was me starting out at half, then taking a whole pill and still having that problem. So that tells me right there that CVS' distributor is not a quality product pusher and I paid nearly $10 more through CVS than at Wal-Mart (which I pay usually anywhere from $12-$16/30 days, I don't know why it varies month to month). I called my doctor and told them this and they cancelled my remainder refills through CVS and reissued them back to Wal-Mart once they were back in stock.

I'm kinda worried. I just got my prescription today, so I took half of the 30 something dose at 3 because i wanted to get started. Now I'm worried I won't be able to sleep tonight. My dr. told me to start out on half so I will do that for this week. Anyone ever taken it this late? What am i in for?

I recently started taking phentermine 37.5 and since taking them my sinusis have began draining in my throat extremely bad. Has anyone experienced this side effect?

Changed since when? Mine are kind of rectangle shaped with the corners slightly rounded and has blue specks. Same one since I started in the spring. I've even switched pharmacys and its the same looking one from both.

I believe phentermine has changed it's formula...be sure that you ate getting the pills that are elongated, not the more oval ones with less blue specks. I'm experiencing depression and hunger on this new phentermine. Probably a different manufacturer...but either way, I don''t like the changed pill.

I have been taking phentermine37.5 Mg for a good while,but recently I started taking both of the phentermine 1) 37.5 @ 6AM 2) 330Mg @noon or so. Yes it dis keep me up at night and I do get the hot sweats really bad.Its alright I'm sweating the calories right! Recently I don't know what this may be caused from too much of the phentermine, but I just experience the worse menstrual period anyone can have... I started the 12th and still on my period. These past three days have been the worse!!! Extremly heavy.I've always been the longest 3-5 days and regular. Not even super tampons can help me. I'm misrable and I don't know if its too much of the Phen? This has been my second round of being faithful to the phen where I lost a good 40 pounds like quick in 3months. I lost the weight and quickly after I got pregnet;) as soon as I stoped breast feeding I started taking it and it seems the phen is not helping me as much as it use too and I don't know what's up with my cycle if it has something to do with the pills. If anyone has experience this plz.let me know..

I had a day like that a few weeks ago and I've been on the stuff since March or April. It was one of the worst feelings I have felt, and I've had a baby! I could not find a thing that made it better but it was gone the next day. I honestly don't think it matters that you took a whole one. I take mine for 4-5 days then I go 2-3 days without it. I can only take 1/2 on the days I work cuz if I take a
whole one I will become so sick when I start getting hot. On the days we go to the beach I take half cuz even sitting in the sun getting hot makes me sick. I've lost almost 45 lbs since march so it's definitely worth if.

I just started taking it on the 22nd.. the first 3 days were great, no side affects or anything and I had lots of energy and motivation.. but today my stomach hurts, like I'm starving but I don't want to eat and I'm VERY emotional and irritable. I took only half of 37.5 mg the first 3 days and took a whole one today. Should I go back to half?

i was taking phentermine first acout 10 yeArs ago in 3 month i lost 40 lb. i felt great , no side effects , dry mouth only. i had also a lot of energy, it felt like i never tired until i got to bed...then i fall a sleep right away. again, i felt GREAT....few years back i thied to take it again, 37.5....i tried with a quarter of a tablet....my heart raiting went so high that i couldnt take it...the next day i tried again and felt terrible ! so, phentermine is really works for loosing weight...of course , if you can handle the side effexts! i tried a lot of different things, all natural..like a new green cofee, nothing ever worked for me.

I took this pill a couple of years ago before my daughter was born and lost 30 lbs in 4 months. For me, 4 months is the longest the pill would work. It starts to lose its effectiveness after that. If you are trying to drop weight quickly for an event like HS Reunion or Wedding then this is the perfect solution! You have to go to your doctor to get this pill, I would not recommend getting online as it is very expensive and there are no guarantees that what your getting is actually phentermine. All I had to pay was my copay of $25 at the doctors office then the pills were $28 for a 30 day supply at Kroger. If you order online from some random website, its like hundreds of dollars - its cheaper just to go to your doctor to get the prescription, plus then you know your actually getting the real thing. My one complaint was the dry mouth but that is the only side effect I had initially. I had a baby last year and gained all the weight back and am up to 235 lbs. So I started taking this pill again on 9/12 and have lost 7 lbs so far as of this morning. I am hoping to get down to atleast 200 or under would be wonderful! I am also Hypothyroid so its almost impossible to lose weight on your own and for me this has been a miracle pill. This time around taking it I am feeling a "weird" sensation that everyone has been talking about - jittery, lightheaded, drowsy. I do not have any extra energy that everyone is talking about - I can still take a nap in the middle of the day but I do have some insomnia which I hope goes away in a few days. If you can get past the dry mouth and jittery feeling, then you will lose weight. You will lose weight even without exercising but I recommend exercising at least 30 minutes a day which will speed up the weight loss. Once you see the pounds come off, then it will motivate you to want to exercise more and eat better. After only 1 week my stomach has shrunk and I can only eat half of what I was eating before. The first time I was on this pill, I was also doing the Atkins Diet which I highly recommend. I am doing Atkins again this time as well but its tough! Good luck everyone!

Hi, the first time I ever took this pill I couldn't sleep. I would feel dizzy, throw up and was not hungry at all I lost 20pounds in a month(145lb-125lb). 4 years later I tried it again I still could not sleep felt a lot less sleepy and dizzy then first time. I wasn't throwing up I lost 25pounds in that month(140lb-115lb). Now 5years later after having my first baby I weighed 190lb I had gained 45pounds during my pregnancy. I lost 40pounds in 3months by eating healthy but then I hit a dead end. As much as I cut my porsion, excersiced, drinked a lot of water I gaind 12pounds so I started taking the pill again. I felt dizzy the week I was in my period. I sleep well and don't throw up. So far ived lost 16pounds. I guess your system is not use to it that's why your body reacts the way it dose.

I'm a caffeine junky but when I started taking it my dr told me to take 1/2 a pill for I think it was the first week then to start taking a whole one. She also said to take it for 3-4 days then skip 2-3 days. I've been doing this since march or April and I've lost over 40 pounds so far. I know if I had started off on a whole pill I would have been wired! I still have trouble going to sleep but if I get it set in my mind I'm going to bed at a certain time I usually don't have trouble, and I don't take mine until around 9:30-10am.

Hello, I'm on day 4 of taking Phentermine 37.5. I was prescribed this medication to help reduce my appetite so that I could form better eating habits (learn to eat less). I was literally binging on food and ultimately ended up weighing the most I've ever weighed in my whole life and feeling pretty darn miserable about it. I'm in North West Illinois (close to the Mississippi), would be nice to have a weight loss buddy. More importantly I am here to ask if anyone has experienced feeling "wired" and not being able to sleep at night? Does this symptom get better?... and if so, how long before I can have a good night sleep again? I am an early morning person, I usually wake up before 6am, and that's when I've been taking the full pill, throughout the day I have felt a bit "wired"/"energized" but my pharmacist did tell me that it was a STIMULANT and as I'm not a caffein drinker, i would experience a bit of this, so I'm not too concerned, it's more the sleeping portion - it's really bothering my husband that I'm a bit of a zombie at night. Any help/concerns please respond - thank you! ~Mel
