Phenazopyridine Kidney Infection

I recently had a UTI and was given Bactrim for three days and felt better. It's been almost a week and I suddenly have the symptoms back long with lower back pain. Seeing that it is almost 7:30 pm on a Sunday, I will have to wait until tomorrow morning to call and go in and see the doctor. The doctor was pleased that I stopped taking Phenazopyridine two days before going in for the urine culture to detect the UTI. Will Phenazopyridine interfere with diagnostics for a kidney infection? I would love to be able to relieve some of my symptoms before morning, but I will not if it means they will not get the proper results for the diagnostics they need.

The only warning I've found on anything like this has to do with it interfering with urinary diagnostics for diabetics, although you should make sure to tell you doctor that you took it, in case they know of other results it may affect.

You may need a longer course of antibiotics to fully eradicate the infection.
