Pharmacy Ripped Me Off (Page 2) (Top voted first)

Updated

My husband has a prescription for 90 1mg generic xanax 90 count. We just got home and when he counted the bottle there were only 60 tablets. The pharmacist says the medication was double counted because it is a class 3 drug, however, I also picked up a class 4 medication today temazepam and it certainly was not double counted. Isn't there a way that we can find out if they shorted him? I should note that the pharmasist is being very defensive and rude..I know that they are wrong, but they say they are right..I should say the Pharmacy is new to Ca, It is CVS.. What happens if wwe have a stand off? Do we have anyway of proving them wrong. My husband has daily severe panic attacks and being shorted 30 is a big deal. Thanks for any help anyone can give me

Ya, I doubt that...I have seen refused service, escorted out, and arrested for ALOT less! If pharmacists had to take all that extra time to recount meds....check inventory, and do an investigation every time a customer throws a fit...they would get nothing done and not to mention the loss of $ due to time and wages. There are policies, routine safeguards...?...all because highly trained and educated pharmacists cant count? Not buyin it? If that has happened so much, why keep going back to that pharmacy? If they cant count then they probably cant read that well either, who knows what meds they might be giving you....that could be very dangerous! I know for a fact that addicts can come up with some crazy crazy stories to explain and justify anything....I would suggest a new pharmacy in another town?

your best bet would go to the pharmacy an have a second conversation , this time with the man that pays the bills or their cheif or head wenier that handles any greivances, tell them that you think a mistake has been made, it is common for some people to veiw numbers backwards such as a 9 turned to be a 6 this is a form of i belive its called dislexlia, it would be a simple mistake as many people know they have this problem , but won t admit it, it may have been the pharmicist assistance that filled your order, always never speak rude, always speak in a professional manner, if this fails to re-elvaluate the problem, you can file a complaint with the States Board of Professionals, this may not solve the problem but it will leave them with a complaint record, I, m not for sure but i beleive they may have to post counts of their medications as a bank teller with their tells, I would also let them know in a polite professional manner that they are leaving you no recourse but the filing of the complaint if the greivance discussion is not satisfactory

I recently requested my pain Dr. to prescrbe me MS Cotin as I've been on methadone for 9 yrs. Wish I could get away from all meds, but my pain won;t allow it and I've no other alternatives. So the Dr. writes a perscribtion and the bottle I received from the pharm stated Morphine Sulf 60 MG TAB. SA. I noticed that the written prescription also stated the above. Nowhere did it say MS Cotin. The tablets were oblong and orange throughout. Everything I've read about MS Contin stated the pill was round with coloring on it (Which can be wiped off down to a white tablet which could then be crushed diluted with water and injected if so desired) So I got no tablet that resembled the above. Have they changed the MS Cotin to keep people from breaking them down??? I would have thought that the perscribed bottle would have read MS Contin A time released med which is white inside and full of minute wax particles that slowly releases the morphine. But again I received nothing like that. Any info would be appreciated.

The MS in MS Contin stands for Morphine Sulfate. They are one and the same. As far as banging them. Total waste of time. You should have gone with oxy's. But thats retarded anyway!

I had this happen once to my methadone and i get 480 a month, i had them re-count there end of the bottle and they found out that they had to many left in one of there bottles and said that i was right and they were sorry and owed me the the rest, they shorted me 60 pills. what they do is count the bottle that they had to open and then see if it had less or more in it then it should ask them to do this and if they say they have had others filled with the same drug then they should count the people that came that same day and add there meds to what is left and if indeed there is a shortage on your end then there should be more meds in there bottles at the drug store and they'll be honest they have to be. so ask them to please count all there pills from that day and it may take a few hrs but it worked for me.

I belieive thatthere are cameras in the pharmacy area just like there are in the rest of the store. If you are having problems with the head pharmasist,I would go to the store and ask to speak to whoever is in charge[ex: manager].Do not get flustered or fly of the handle just try and remain calm and talk out the situation.Tell them you want all the pill counted and all video's[if avaiable] reviewed].I've had similar problems in the past, but never had more than 10-15 shorted on a few seperate occasions.the first 2 times the head pharmasist told me to come back and pick up the ones that I was missing, and the next time the woman there gave me an attitude and gave me the old "the pills are double and triple counted".Once that happened I began to make them open my scripts when I picked them up and recount them right in front of me.They shot me annoyed/dirty looks, but the hell with them, those are my medications perscribed to me and need them.I've even been shorted on things such as wellbutrin and celexa, now why would I lie about those?????Anyway I recently found a new pharmacy and pharmacist.....and haven't had any shortages since!

I picked up my monthly prescriptions from CVS or actually I had my Dad, since I was working. I didn't really look at them until I had been taking my daily dose for a few days. I noticed it didn't look like the 90 I usually get. Turns out after counting them I had been shorted 42 pills. I called the pharmacy first thing the next morning and he stated the script was fully filled with 90. Now I have been going to this pharmacy for ten plus years and never had an issue before. I know the head pharmacist as she has been there just as long. I am an honest and upstanding but given this med is a controlled substance I am worried they may not honor their mistake. This will leave me short for the second half of the month. The pharmacist on duty today directed me to call and speak to the head pharm that I know tomorrow but I am still worried that I could be left short for the month. I noticed my pills and script receipt are not stamped "double counted" so I'm wondering if that is the problem. Either way anyone who takes these mess know that being shorted that many spells disaster eventually. Anyone have any advice aside from what I have already read?

No offense- but have you thought that maybe your dad might have taken the missing medication? My sister did that to me after surgery :(
Sounds crazy- but it happens everyday!

i think i have bin ripped off by my new pharmacy i am covered by medical and have been getting all my medications absolutly free, but today at my new pharmacy which has the information for the medical plan they charged me $6 still only a tenth of what it would have bin but i also noticed that i have no repeats on my depoprovera and i am over 100% positive that i should have 3, like i saw my doctor write that and she told me very clearly she was giving me 3 repeats so i wouldnt have to come back and make an apointment to get more for about a year I dont know what to do about it also i have gotten the exact same medications with the exact same plan and never bin charged any money for them

CVS and RiteAid are the MOST EXPENSIVE pharmacies and I avoid them like the plague. Find a reliable local pharmacy and do business with them.

I am prescribed xanax 1mg, 60 per month. Last week, I had my script filled at a CVS in Connecticut. When I got home after picking up the script, I counted them and noticed that 10 were missing. I sent an email to CVS corporate, and they called me today and apologized and told me to come in and pick up the 10 pills, and too my surprise, they gave me a $20 giftcard for the inconvenience. Maybe anybody who is shortest meds should try sending an email like I did. Who knows, you may even get a giftcard out of it as well.

I am going through the same thing with Meijer Pharmacy. My Rx was for 90 Xanax and when I came home noticed it didn't look like 90. I counted 5 times and there were only 60. I called the pharmacy, store manager etc. with a reply that they were counted twice and no mistake was made. Without my knowledge or consent the pharmacy called my Dr. and asked him to call in a script for 30 more! My Dr. told me to call the police. The officer treated me like I was a criminal. I was taking care of my dying mother at the time. I have turned it over to the DEA. Because I was caring for my dying mom for 2 weeks the DEA seems to have lost interest as well. I'm gonna keep fighting!

I live in NY. CVS has been my pharmacy for over two years. They shorted me 40 pills of Valium about 8 months ago. I let them know what a monumental f***-up this was and they better fix it. After two days of bulls*** they realized the error of their ways. Stupidly, I stayed with them and it happened again. This time it was 4 pills. They gave me the song and dance about how they double counted but I know I was shorted. However, because it happened before they were more reluctant to do anything about it this time. I also noticed all the same people working there so no-one was repramanded. Today I filled my script again and got f***ed out of 4 more pills. It's shame on me at this point for staying with this drug addict pharmacy but I'm not going to be blackballed or looked at like I'm the one up to no good. I'll eat the loss and switch to Walgreens next month. They seem to have their s*** together. I feel for you and know how it is. I responded to you because it's the same pharmacy on separate coasts. I wonder who their might be to inform that this is happening to people in what seems to be epidemic #'s from what I've read. Well good luck.

I've been in the same situation quite a few times with xanax. I'm on the 2mg bars and have been short 1 or 2 from my 120 a month almost on a regular basis. It's happened at CVS and Walgreens and any time I would mention it they would act like I was a criminal trying to get extra pills from them and refused to even look into it. They did call my Dr though to report me saying I was lying but even though my Dr agrees with me the pharmacies are never held responsible. It never affected me in the past but now with them changing the scheduling of the drug (somehow saying it is safer than marijuana according to the DEA) missing one or two pills can be the difference between you making it to your next refill or not seeing that you can't pick up that refill until the exact day you need it. Because of that new rule and my work hours I've had to miss two days since they have changed the law because I can't go to work if I don't have my medication for the day and don't have a 24 hour pharmacy nearby. It seems like the new scheduling makes sense so that people can't abuse the drug as easily as they used to but on the other hand it simply makes life so much harder for those of us who took our medication as directed. Those who changed the rules though don't seem to care who it affects though. As long as they have another way to control what you put in your own body. I know it's off the subject but why is alcohol which has no medicinal value other than being a disinfectant not even part of the DEA's scheduling? The two main definitions of a schedule one drug are how addictive/dangerous it is and the other being it has to have no medicinal uses. Marijuana does not fall into either of these categories since it is one of the least addictive/dangerous drugs out there even compared with those that are legal and it has quite a few medicinal uses. But because of politics common sense is thrown out the window and for now we are told through adds, seeing people in charge, and even the White House having it's own brew of beer that drinking is just fine as long as you don't touch cannabis even though it is less harmful in every single way.

Well, sadly, it happens all the time...at just about any pharmacy. Hopefully, they will correct the problem, sometimes they don't.
