I was taking a birthcontrol , n then I switched to another pill brand before my period started . N now I have all the pains like I'm going to start but nothing. So I'm continuing to take the pill n also saw on line that taking 3000mgs of vitamin -c will bring down your period . So I'm trying that now I'm on day 2 of taking vitamin -c . I took a test n I'm not pregnant . Do you think it's because I switched brands at the wrong time. I've never experienced this before so I'm freaking out .

Hello, Garcia! How are you?

First, that is just a myth about vitamin C, it will not actually bring on your period.

As to the oral contraceptives, yes. It is most likely due to your switching, especially if the hormone levels in the new one are different than those in the prior one.

Some women also stop getting their periods altogether, when on them. It's nothing to worry about, as long as you haven't missed any tablets and your last pap smear was normal.

The FDA lists the typical side effects of oral contraceptives as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, irritability and PMS-like symptoms.

Have you consulted your doctor to be sure?
