I took Perindopril for around 5 months until about 6 weeks ago when I began to feel really ill. ( I already have vit D deficiency and I take fultium for this) . I think I started with a cough and high urine output soon after I'd started taking Perendopril. So, after stopping the Perindopril 6 weeks ago I still can't stop the urge to urinate or the coughing. And I cannot pick up from feeling ill and tired with aching bones and muscles (as well as the aching bones and muscles from the vit D). How long does it take to get over Perindopril as, even though I'm 77 years, I was really active and vibrant before the Perindopril. It's lethal. Thanks for listening. ## Hello, Nora! How are you feeling? I'm very sorry about what you're dealing with, that's awful. How much...
1 REPLY UpdatedI take Coversyl for high blood pressure. In the mornings my BP is usually around 137 over 96. In the evenings it has consistently been around 106 over 77. Why such a difference? I take the Coversyl in the mornings, would it stop having an effect after 24 hours? ## Is your morning check done, before you take your medication, or before it has a chance to start working? If so, that would explain it being slightly higher in the mornings. A different evening reading can be explained by your activity, diet, other medications you may be taking, and etc. It is normal for it to fluctuate throughout the day, you will not really ever get readings that are consistently the same. You can learn more here from the AHA. (American Heart Association) Are you on any other medications? Do you drink anythi...
1 REPLY UpdatedI was prescribed Prexum Plus by my Doctor and suddenly the Pharmacist tells me that they are changing me to Prexum 5mg Plus? What is the difference between these two medications? Since I have been on the Prexum 5mg, I am feeling stressed and nervy and almost short tempered. Is this co-incidence or could this be the different medication? Please assist! ## Prexum contains the active ingredient Perindopril, which is a ACE inhibitor that is most commonly used to help treat high blood pressure, and certain cardiac conditions. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, and hypotension. There is no difference between the two you have listed, one just lists the dosage, and the other one didn't, but they are the same medication and same dosage. ...
1 REPLY UpdatedI was placed on coveram 10/10, but can't always afford it, can I use phaemapress 10 my in the meantime, until I can afford it again, , couple off years ago, I used a different high blood pressure tablet, with ridaq and something to prevent gout ( can't remember those names), what is your suggestion, for me to do ## I would suggest speaking to your doctor to ask them about prescribing a more affordable option. They shouldn't have a problem doing so, especially since having you on one medication consistently is better than having you switching regularly due to high prices. Typical side effects of medications for high blood pressure may include nausea, dizziness, headache, increased urination, and hypotension. Are you on any other medications?

Thanks. ## Coveram contains Perindopril, and Amolodipine, it is most commonly used to treat high blood pressure, and certain cardiac conditions. The NIH warns that it may cause a dry cough, as a side effect, and yes, you may need to try a different medication, Trini, because it doesn't usually go away. Grace, how is this medication working for you? Herman, it might actually worsen gout, according to NIH reports. O...

13 REPLIES UpdatedHow long does it take to become effective and reduce blood pressure from the start of the treatment? ## Hi, Tatow! How are you? This contains the active ingredients Perindopril and Amlodipine. It will take about 4 to 6 weeks for it to reach its full effectiveness in your body. That's about the same time that the side effects, if you have any, will reach their peak in intensity and start to taper off. They may include nausea, dizziness, headache and hypotension. You can learn more Peridopril details here and there are more Amlodipine details here. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Thank You So Much. 3 REPLIES UpdatedWhat is the drug that can be used in case I am unable to find prexum plus ## Prexum contains the active ingredient Perindopril, it is an ACE inhibitor that is used to treat high blood pressure. While there are certainly a good number of other prescription alternatives to Prexum, there are even more natural alternatives that in my opinion can be just as or more effective than prescription medication if taken seriously. I personally had high blood pressure, but was able to control it by controlling my eating habits and exercising. What works for me may not work for everyone, but my initial advice is to look into natural ways such as: Low/no sodium foods to help reduce inflammation and water retention; supplementation of garlic, as well as calcium, magnesium, and potassium. Eating plenty o...

Slipping problem ## This contains Perindopril, and Amlodipine, it is most commonly used to treat high blood pressures, and certain cardiac conditions. What do you consider to be a slipping problem? Back pain, and weakness can be normal side effects of this medication, according to the NIH, but you may also experience nausea, dizziness, headache, and increased urination.
1 REPLY UpdatedI would like to know can Pearinda & Ciplavasc 5mg cause any coughing, insomnia ! ## Hello, Bev! How are you? I'm very sorry about the problems that you're having. The cough is most likely caused by the Perindopril in the Pearinda, it is very well known to cause that type of problem. However, it's hard to say which might be causing the insomnia. Have you consulted your doctor? The cough usually doesn't go away, so you'll need to be switched to a different medication. ## Can I take Pearinda 8 mg in the evening? I have no energy during the day and wonder if it could be a side effect. I also have a bad skin rash on my chin. Never had a problem with my skin. So tired of going to drs and just getting more pills.
2 REPLIES UpdatedI have started coveram which contains the active ingredient perindopril, but I am scared to take it because of all the bad side effects. ## Coveram contains Perindopril and Amlodipine. The NIH lists the typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, increased urination, and hypotension. However, if you are taking it to treat high blood pressure, it is far more dangerous to let that continue out of control, than to take the medication. What side effects are you concerned about? ## I had a stroke 3 months ago and my Doctor prescribed Perindopril. Now I'm having bad reflux and burning sensations during the night. Can this be the side effects of Perindopril?
2 REPLIES UpdatedI've been taking the Reaptan brand of Perindopril/Amlodipine (5mg-5mg) & now I am experiencing side effects as such as dizziness, mild headache, stomach pain, hypotension and finger cramps. I fear it may cause more risks to my system. Should I stop taking this medication? ## How long have you been taking it? How are you doing, now? Has there been any change? If you have high blood pressure, or a cardiac condition, it is far more risky for you to let such a condition remain uncontrolled, since they have the potential to be fatal. They could result in a heart attack, stroke, or congestive heart failure. The issues you've reported are listed by the NIH as being normal side effects of this medication, you may also experience increased urination. Most side effects taper off, and ...
1 REPLY UpdatedI have been taking coveram, but was then changed to amloc and perindopril, and since then I have had erectile dysfunction. What can I do because I'm thinking of stopping these blood pressure medications? ## Hi David, Another David here (Lol) - Sorry to hear about your side effects after switching medications. From what I've researched, a "loss of interest or pleasure" is listed as a less common side effect of Perindopril; which sounds exactly like what you're describing. Personally, I think you should do what feels right for yourself after weighing out the pros and cons of taking these medications (or perhaps just Perindopril in particular). There are numerous blood pressure medications and natural alternatives on the market for effectively managing hypertension. How...
1 REPLY UpdatedI want to know about Prexum (perindopril) ## My father was given Prexum as blood pressure medication by his doctor. He was told to take 2 tablets a day, but after about 5 days he ended up in the hospital gravely ill. His body was quivering, eyelids, mouth and hands were unsteady. His lips, tongue and throat were swollen. He couldn't talk or walk. Could he have had an idiopathic anaphylaxis shock? He was released from the hospital and is at home at the moment. He seems very weak but he can eat soup and yogurt, drink water and tea. He can walk and go to the toilet by himself but my stepmother is always with him to make sure he doesn't fall and get hurt. ## This medication is used to help treat high blood pressure, and certain cardiac conditions. The NIH lists the typical side effe...

Previously very active but of late feel very lethargic and depressed. Can it all be from drinking prexum plus for my HBP condition? ## Prexum contains the active ingredient Perindopril, it is an ACE inhibitor that is used to treat high blood pressure.
