Pencillin Allergy And Hydrochlorot 25 Mg (Top voted first)

I have been prescribed hydrochlorot for hypertension along with atenolol. I've been taking it for several years. After having some issues with fatigue I reviewed the side effects and cautions. One of the cautions was that if you are allergic to penicillin not to take this medication. I have some auto immune markers that are not good but not severe enough to warrant a diagnosis for an auto immune disease. However, I've had flesh eating strep in my lower right leg tissue twice. Lately if I as much get a scrap or insect bite on the scarred leg tissue it turns into an itchy red ugly patch that takes for ever to heal. Are they related?

I have allergies to several medications including penicillin. I break out in hives the size of baseballs and larger. My blood pressure is so out of control at this time [180/102] because the Walgreens I get my prescriptions at didn't bother to tell me they couldn't get it anymore and I depended on their auto fill and really never noticed I was not taking it. A few weeks ago I started getting very nervous and very dizzy and nauseous, I thought it was my diabetes. I also have recurring urinary tract infections with no symptoms. I have bleed so much I have turned the toilet water purple. This has been going on for the past two years. I am wondering if the Atenolol might have something to do with the UTI's ?

This medication is not related to Penicillin, so there shouldn't be an issue taking it, but your doctor and pharmacist would be the best judges of that.

The FDA lists the typical side effects of this medication as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, increased urination, and hypotension.

Patti, have you had any tests done from a urine sample? Purple is very unusual. Are you on any other medications?
