Paraphenylenediamine (chemical In Hair Dye) And My Meds.

I am allergic to the ingredient in hair dye called Paraphenylenediamine and Disburse blue 106. Found this out from the TRUE Test. My history - 2010 broke out with blisters all over my body (except face) head to toe. Put on Clonazepam (for anxiety) (for 7 years) Prednisone and Triamcinolone Acetonide ointment for 3 years which helped with the intense itch. Left scaring and finally went away in 2014/2015. I am now taking Omeprazole 40MG for heartburn, Trazodone, for insomnia. I weaned myself off of the Clonazepam about three months ago. A little confusing, so the only thing I am on now is Omeprazole, and Trazodone. Before I got a prescription for Trazodone I had to go to the emergency room because I had not slept for 4 days. I explained I was off Clonazepam and I was 54 and beginning to have menopause, which I wondered if it affected my sleep, that I couldn't sleep anymore. The ER said it could be because I tapered my self of the Clonazepam or it could be menopause. They prescribed me Zolpidem 5 MG and it worked well. I read the side effects and it concern me because I have never heard of someone driving in their sleep. (in a hypnotic state type of sleep). Well I took precautions and handed my keys to the car to someone else, and I was just fine. It worked on my sleep, so I slept fine for the 14 nights, the amount of the prescription. I had no side effects. After I ran out I made an appoint to the clinic and the Physician assistant refused to give me Zolpidem 5 MG. That's when she prescribed the Trazodone. The first and second time I tried it I had awful nightmares, so I went back and again requested Zolpidem, again the answer was no. I told her I didn't want to be on an antidepressant, I just wanted to be able to sleep. So she changed the medication to Mirtazapine 7,5 MG, that was awful, I felt so sluggish for most of the day, so I decided to go back to the Trazodone. I haven't had a very restful sleep and very vivid dreams, pretty scary. Okay so now I am on the Trazodone an the Omeprazole, and nothing else, but I am breaking out with blisters, in the same area of my leg where my skin reaction was from the allergic reaction to the PPD in the hair dye. (no I haven't dyed my hair in 7 years, and will never dye my hair again). I don't know what to do. Where I live, we only get to see a PA and not a doctor. I can't stand it, I am getting blisters on my leg, a few bumps starting on my arm, and I am trying to do the research on PPd and my medicine. I wanted to use the cream for my leg but according to an interaction checker, you can not use the Triamcinolone Acetonide Ointment while taking Trazodone. Please give me some information. I don't want to break out for another 7 years and I do want to be able to sleep. So sorry this is a little confusing I am worried, and very itchy, and want to sleep. Thank You.

Hello, Diane! How are you?

What interactions checker did you use?

I've checked several and haven't found anything listed between the topical Triamcinolone and oral Trazodone listed by the FDA or NIH.

However, give the fact that there have been increasing outbreaks of Shingles, I strongly encourage you to see your doctor to have this checked out, before trying to treat it.

As to the odd dreams from the Trazodone, that is a typical side effects and usually improves in a few weeks, then goes away entirely after about 4 to 5 weeks.
