I have been taking 3 to 4 8mg (24-32mgs) Dilaudid pills at 1 time usually around 3:00pm everyday for about 2 1/2 years now for back and nerve damage and would like to know the best way, medication, and dosage to get off this drug, also how long and how bad I will feel detoxing. The only time I have energy and feel good is the 2 or 3 hours after taking the drugs. Every muscle and bone in my body aches like I have a severe case of arthritis , i'm sleepy-but can't sleep an entire night, get a runny nose, yawn constantly and tired. The name brand 8mg Dilaudid tablet is white, it is shaped like a triangle, with rounded corners, it has a number 8 on on side and on the opposite side it has a logo of two triangles, with rounded corners that are separated by a score line. I am in pain management and I am finding it very hard to keep up with the cost of all my medications every month. I take oxycontin 80 mg and roxicodone. I do not take as many a day as I am suppose to. Can a urine test tell how much i take? ## Yes, there are tests they can use that show the levels of it in your body, rather than just the presence of the medication. After my patches were taken on a beach trip mith several families, I am currently on day 9 ofwithdrawals. Exhaustion, calves spasming are bad,but the chills almost seen worse and unbearable at times. I would like to know the amount of hydrocodone in a teaspoon dose ## I cannot say that definitively, there are several dose available ranging from 1.67mg per tsp up to 30mgs per tsp. My doctor told me last Thursday a UA came back with low values of meds in my system. I only ever used the meds as prescribed. He said he will no longer fill my 75 mcg/h patch and hydrocodone after 8 years. 2 car accidents 3 weeks apart in 2003. I have 2 inoperable thoratic disc, spinal stenosis and a pinched nerve in my lower back. Also had 2 cervical fusion surgeries. My wife is taking Hydrocodone/Acetaminophen SOL APAP at 2 tsps every 4 hours. Is Vicodin 5/500 the equivalent to this and can she take the Vicodin instead? She just had the Gastric Bypass almost a week ago. ## Vicodin does contain the same active ingredients (Hydrocodone and Acetaminophen), so it all depends on what dosage she is currently taking. Another thing to consider is that there may be a reason why she was prescribed this medication in a syrup form instead of a tablet, especially that she had surgery related to the digistive system. I've been on oxycodone for almost 2 years, following a bad automobile accident. I became dependent and was taking upwards of 75-85mg per day. I'm finally on a step-down regimen, starting with 60mg per day for a week, then 50mg a day/ per week, 40mg per day/week and so on, until I finish 10mg per day for a week. I foolishly took more than I was supposed to this week (had a death in the family that put me over the edge). I can't fill my next Rx until the end of this week and was petrified of withdrawal, so I slapped on a 25mcg fentanyl patch. It's been 25 hours and I developed a terrible headache. Hi guys, so I have severe scoliosis which causes a lot of pain and have been prescribed 10mg hydrocodones. The problem is that I also use marijuana on occasion for my anxiety. I have been going to the same pm dr for about 5 years and I always used fake urine to pass. This was never an issue until recently when a new dr came in. I know it's dumb but I wasn't aware they were checking the level of hydrocodone as well and now the new dr is telling me he can't prescribe them to me anymore because all my U/A's were "clean". I really need the pills to sleep at night and I'm nervous I will be cut off permanently. Does anyone have any insight? I'm having Jones fracture surgery in the morning and would like to know if I can take a hydrocodone today for pain? ## Hi Jodi, Generally, it's best to consult with the surgeon concerning pre/post op preparation and instructions. If the hydrocodone is taken too close to the operation, I think it's very important to let the anesthesiologist know before hand so that they can make any necessary dosage adjustments to whatever they administer. If you don't communicate with the surgeon or anesthesiologist then it could create a potentially dangerous drug interaction or overdose.
