I had a failed back surgery from a workers comp incident and my original pain doctor had me on 30 mg of oxycodone four times a day, he had left the practice to become a full time anesthesiologist at a hospital, where I live I had a hard time finding pharmacies that could fully fill my prescription so I would hold back the last dew days before my doctors visit so I'd have some invade the pharmacy had to order them. Hello. I am going into my 6th month since I've started taking hydrocodone. When I received my last refill, I noticed the medication was different. I assumed it was just a different "brand" and thought nothing of it. To shorten the dramatic details, I noticed my vision was getting blurry, shortness of breath, HIGH FREQUENCY constant ringing (?), and honestly my pain is still horrible. It's almost like I have a slight "head buzz" with disoriented thinking. Thus, I looked up the brand name of my previous pill and the new one. One of the primary factors that doesn't seem to be well known to the public, is that the FDA allows active ingredients in generic meds to vary by as much as 25% from the actual listed dosage. This could potentially mean that a 5mg hydrocodone may actually turn out to be 3 to 7 mgs depending on the manufacturer. Aside from that, subtle differences in the "inactive" ingredients (binders/fillers) could also impact the absorption/overall efficacy of the medication. I have taked oxycodone and hydrocodone over the last 30 years due to chronic kidney stones (I have passed, or had removed, well over 50 stones in my lifetime) and a severely scarred ureter on my left side. Often I go several days without having to take a half of a Hydrocodone 5/325. That is my "go to" dose when my side starts to ache, and it usually takes the edge off. If not, I will take another half, or if it seems to be getting worse, an Oxycodone 5mg. They work just fine, but if I take an Oxy near bedtime. I won't get to sleep for about 6 hours. I was just switched from Qualitest oxycodone 15 mg IR to Mylan 15 mg IR because my insurance won't pay for it because the cost went up on Qualitest. My question is I am concerned about the effectiveness of the Mylan oxycodone. I had good pain relief from the Qualitest green pills. I guess my biggest fear is that these new peach pills from Mylan won't take the pain away as we'll as the other brand. Is tramadol safe for someone who is not supposed to have nsads? ## Hi Bill, Please don't take my word alone for this, but I've heard other patients say that 100mg of Tramadol is about as potent as a 5mg Oxycodone. Even though everyone's tolerance is different, statements like this certainly go to show that Oxycodone exhibits far more powerful analgesic effects than Tramadol. Yes there is a big difference in the manufacturers of these pills. The white, round, WATSON 925s seem to work best as far as pain relief and "highness". The ovals are ok but not as good as watson...The peach or yellow pills are also less effective than the watsons. ## I just came across an article from this website,"Generics and Biosimilars" titled, "Actavis makes agreement for generic abuse-deterrent oxycodone", Posted 03/05/2013, that explains exactly why everyone is getting sick and feeling no pain relief. The pills are like said before generic for percocet 10/325, for me these pills don't work very well for my back and leg pain, I have had L5S1 rebuilt twice first time in 1994 had a 8mm fragment and the 2nd in 2005 massive amount of small fragments, both surgery's failed around 10 years after surgery. I have a precipitation for Oxycontin 40 mg 3 times a day. One night before going to a doctor in the morning I took a Roxicodone 30 mg at 3:00 AM cause I didn't want to take my Oxycontin. The next morning around 7:45 - 8:00 AM my pain doctor did a urine drug test. I was told 2 different stories. At least i think its a Dilaudid patch maybe fentanyl, but my mother had or has an intestinal infection/block we havent really been able to get an exact diagnosis of but they originally had her on hydromorphone pills for the pain.
