Does anyone know of a doctor in and around the Baton Rouge Louisiana area that will prescribe pain meds that takes Medicaid? I'm seeing a doctor now in Maryland but I really need to move back to Louisiana very sad that your pain keeps you from moving. I have a sister that is terminally ill and sad to say dying...and meds are keeping me from going to take care of her in her final days. Please help

That's the problem the ones who you line the pockets with cash have staff that can bypass some regulatory restraints OR can afford specialty staff that exclusively deals with these issues. Unfortunately practices that accept Medicaid receive a fraction to what others that can bill for. To be fair many folks who can have interventional pain treatments or surgery refuse because either they fear these procedures or simply desire the effects of these opiate pain killing drugs. That's what providers who refuse to prescribe these opiates say in there defense . So as you can see it's a complicated issue and it's hard to know who's telling the truth.I hope you find relief once and for all God bless

Agreed, no one should suffer when modern techniques, treatments or surgery is available to correct those conditions.Perhaps if that was a reality a large portion of patients dependent on these powerful mood and mind altering drugs their dispensed in lieu of appropriate surgical intervention. It's so sad to read post after post of desperate legit chronic pain sufferers going to unimaginable lengths to secure these potent narcotic opiates in order to satisfy there growing dependence on these agents that were never developed for lifetime use.Imagine going through this excruciating process monthly and the stress that only magnifies that pain and need for upward dosing over time.If that isn't hell I don't know what is.Id love to know the number of accidental addicts that resulted from the negligence of the profession to medicate as opposed to rectifying the condition surgically. For those who suffer this indignity God bless you because the medical community as a whole has failed you.
I have AmeriHealth Caritas via Medicaid. I don't have cancer. I do have several Orthopedic impairments that require repair. I do have documentation of all my problems. I have legitimate pain and need for pain medication. I don't have the need to be on medications forever, I just want to be a little less uncomfortable while I wait to have the things that can be repaired repaired. I know the people that get their medication don't have problems but they paid cash for the visit. As I am on a fixed income I can't afford to pay 350 for an office visit. I'm not looking to make any money, I'm just looking for a little relief until I can be fixed. Would you please provide me with a legitimate doctor that will accept Medicaid and prescribe me medication accordingly? Thank you very much for any help.
Did Dawn discharge you? I'm sorry but she needs help. She has a controlling nature about her. She leads Dr Barrow around like a little puppy. I was let go also for no good reason and no proop hippa is a bunch of BS.
I read your post about needing neck surgery & being on medicaid. I used Dr. Ricky Medel at Tulane. He accepts medicaid.
Dean, University Health, is also a teaching hospital and must accept Medicaid. But, if you need opiates for chronic pain that is not terminal, they won't prescribe them. Others similar hospitals in Louisiana are the same.
Love go to Tulane Medical, in New Orleans. They are contracted to the State. They have to accept Medicaid and have Specialist, of all types. They also do surgeries there. The Doctors are teaching doctors also, for Tulane University! They have some really great Doctors!
God bless and good luck!
Hillsboroughm Louisiana Medicaid will not pay or a Pain Management Doctor. They will pay for other doctors to write pain medications if you have chronic pain, if you can find a Medicaid Provider that will do that.
It takes much more than a diagnosis to be approved for SSDI or SSI. Your mother does not have the medical and non medical evidence proving her impairments are so severe they restrict her ability to do Activities Of Daily Living or she woud have been approved. Unless she does not meet the SSI financial criteria.
Your Mom is more than eligible for ssdi. Please contact Peter Lemoine ssi attorney.
You know, I have Medicare & im about to get a pain pump due to reoccurring stomach & intestinal cancer. My mom has THE SAME CANCER, was denied SSI SSDI & Medicare but the Medicaid open market is her insurance. They have people listed in the book but when you call: Nope. No self pay either. So my pain doc in Covington said for her to look for a PM & R (Physical Medicine & Rehab also known as a psychiatrist) & he KNOWS in New Orleans those take Medicaid. I'll be getting on that Monday. And Dr. Lee in Hammond with API told me to "move where 'cannabis' is legal" when I consulted with him. I turned his ass in. Who says that? Are you advocating she do that? Are you paying for my move? Are you aware (which I don't agree) that marijuana has no "medical value & will be labeled a schedule 2 drug just as illicit drugs & pain meds are" according to the DEA - soooooo, Dr. Lee, the DEA is wrong? Ah!
Chance, if you are taking it for chronic pain, any dr can prescribe it. Louisisna Medicaid does not pay Pain Management Drs for the management of chronic non cancer related pain.
If you are taking it for drug addiction, you can only see certain drs. Call you Medicaid Health Plan and ask for the name of drs.
Do you know of any sub doctors that accept medicaid
brandy , where is MIchael Howard located ? When was the last time
you saw him ? Dr. Michael T. Howard, a General Practitioner died April 8, 2014. Is this the same Michael Howard ?
Red, Dr. Gray Barrow, specializes in physical medicine and rehabilitation. He accepts Medicare, but I can't find that he accepts Medicaid Only.
hi could you tell me where this doctor is located?
Michael Howard accepts Medicaid
Dr gray barrow give you anything that will help fantastic Dr
I use suboxone for chronic pain. Some people use it for chronic pain
Alexis B , what kind of insurance do you have that won't cover EMG's and other imaging tests. Since the thread topic mentions Medicaid, if you have Medicaid, it will cover EMG's and imaging tests. But, the dr has to believe that it is medically needed and write the orders in a way that insurance will approve it. I have heard several drs tell patients that their insurance won't cover tests, when that is not correct.
Thank you BL I really do appreciate your comment, I was thinking it may be that and I don't like the chiropractor it hurt last time I went to one, I might just try the steriod injection for first time in my neck, it's just giving me anxiety with this numbness , thank you again hope you have a blessed day! :)
Alexis B, it sounds like you may have injured or irritated some nerves. I would not recommend a Chiropractor because they could do you more harm than good. It may or may not go away on its own.
