Oxymorphone Hcl 5mg + Oxymorphone Hcl 10mg Er + Valium 5mg

I have bad anxiety and I take both Oxymorphone HCL 5mg as well as Oxymorphone HCL 10mg ER painkillers. I take 5 Oxymorphone hcl 5mg pills a day for breakthrough pain and Oxymorphone HCL 10mg ER twice a day. I also take 5 mgs of Valium once a day. Is that ok if I spread everything out?

Hi Lisa,

According to the University of Maryland Medical Center (umm.edu / drug interaction tool), taking Oxymorphone with Valium is generally not recommended and may cause problems with your breathing. Because the potential for interaction is reportedly very high, they encourage patients to contact their doctor about adjusting the dose and/or frequency of dosing to help mitigate possible risk factors.

Oxymorphone is said to have an estimated half life of 8 hours. So spreading things out sounds to me like your safest bet if you are going to take them within the same day. Perhaps the following chart can give you a better idea of how long you should wait: "Oxymorphone half life calculator"
