Oxymorphone Er Generic By Global Pharmacy (Page 3)

Updated

Hi,

Since I heard that Impax finally got the green light to distribute Oxymorphone ER (Opana ER) generic through Global Pharmacy. I didn't hesitate to rush to my PM doc and he instantly had me switch to this new drug. He prescribed me 40 mg twice per day to treat my busted back & fibromyalgia.

I noticed the pill is round in shape with G74 on one side with nothing on the other. The color for the 40 mg ER tablet is an orangy/gold color. Ever since Endo ruined their product with the new TRF formulation. I promised myself to jump back on the bandwagon as soon as the generics were released.

Today is a great day for all who suffer chronic pain. Yay! 8-)

coolioni, Hey Bro, i live in Charlotte North Carolina, i go to cvs, and i tried to get them to order it for me every month but they tell me they can't cos they can only get so many in a month, but if one place doesn't have it then i find a cvs that will so i am able to get it filled...i figure atleast one place has it that is all that matters to me...so its no big deal for me to go to one or to the other, one of them usually has it like 3 times in a row i was able to get it at the same cvs...
Good Luck to all that need to get you meds filled..

Hi there,
After a botched back procedure, DDD and sciatica I have found Opana rear. I have been on this for about 3 yrs. it's the Cadillac of pain medsin my book. The only drug you can function and don't feel a need to increase.

I was on the old ones initially for a while the mkt was dry. Why is the new formulation problematic? I agree my tummy liked the old one better not ingesting all this plastic crap. In you opinion did that change the strength or something about Opana?

Thanks in advance.

Have the same trouble! They come off after a day no matter where I put them. Ihavedry skin from schrogrens disease, lupus, osteoporosis ( thanks to steroids) Don't take them!!! Diabetes due to steroid use. And I did notice that if they stayed on over nite, I felt like I had s bsd hangover due to the medicine building up while I slept. If it works for you, maybe tape over it? Don't know if that's OK? Ask your Dr. Goodluck!

Hi Moon! I've been pretty miserable ever since my rheumatologist said that they will no longer write for Oxycotin for which I've been on 80 MG's. 2x's 2 or 3 a day. I know that's a lot but I have been on this drug since it came out, naturally my PC had to keep uping the dose every 4-5 yrs to get the sasne relief plus on top of Lupus I got osteoporosis since I was 30 and kept breaking bones, ribs at first then just falling out of bed I broke my back in 3 places. I've been thru the mill with lupus then got kidney cancer and they were already in trouble because lupus patients usually have kidney problems. I was truly blessed that they were able to take one kidney out and I'm OK as far as cancer goes. Now I'm told, well blind sided by my dose which was already taken down to 2 80 MG's. A day with anywhere from 15 to 30 MG's. of break thru. He had told me approx. 7 months ago that his group was no longer writing g for narcotics and that I had to see a pain management dr. Well this ass told me that it wasn't my fault but he was taking me off oxy all together and put me on a low dose method one!? I was confused as I never got my meds. early, or abused them in any way. He trashed my dr. the whole time, who I'm close with. I was so upset when I left. I called my Rheumatologist after trying them and he told me how sorry he was. He put me on a slightly lower dose and said it was the law that I see a pain guy 2 x's a yr. I was getting along OK on that dose and knew my days of the old dose was over because of state and federal guidelines. 2 weeks ago I went to get up and my hips and legs hurt very bad. My hip was slightly rotated! He gave me some shots in the hips and said he was not without sympathy and gave me some extra 10 MG's fast acting roxicodone. He said he was still writing for some people who don't need as much I'm guessing. But than my insurance wouldn't pay for it $37 bucks until their docs looked it over. After that I got an email saying they would pay for it but also got one from my doc who said he was sending to a diff pain med. Dr. Ugg!! I sent him an email back asdking if he knew this guy and did he speak to him about me? He said he was good but had to take me down to the legal dose. Was almost there and I see 6 diff. specialist already just keeping me alive! 40 bucks a doc. He didnt answer my question about having to see him monthly or just twice a year. Is this Opana considered an additive med? Or is there a drug thatg may take my pain down 50%? I could deal with that. If not than I'm done and I'm stopping everything! Already started by stopping the oxy. I waned to see how much pain I can take. Tired of feeling like a drug addict cause I'm in pain! Just hoping there is something out there for me? Thx for any suggestions. I pray you have some!!! Lupie

The Activis Brand are temporary off market. Only the pharmacy that has a warehouse with some left are able to get them. It's going to be a good 3 to 4 mths. Globals are the only generic available. Problem with this is the price went up a couple hundred dollars in a month because of the demand. I know from experience and Dr also reply that 20s mg are best. 15mg doesn't have any medication in them it seems and 30,40, well better taking 1 20mg then a 30, or 40mg. Why it's like this I don't know. I just know after conversation with my Dr, he said all patients that are on this he will give you 2 20mg instead of 1 40mg bc he has been told my his patients. I took advice and it's is stronger. I actually have went all day and didn't need my second dose. Wow ,finally something that gets you from thinking medication aklday. Love it.

Is anyone finding that the global pharmaceutical 30 mg ER'S don't work as good after the first week of using them? I used to get the 20mg Activis ER'S and I LOVED THEM!! But these global ones suck after 5 days. I go to Walgreens and so far the past 3 months that's all they have given me. I'm thinking of asking them if they can order the ACTAVIS this month. I just don't know how to go about doing that without them asking me why and not sounding like a drug seeker. I can't afford to loose walgreens and my insurance covers them for 7 bucks, can't beat that with a bat you know!!!

As of June 28th,2016 Here's Activas comments on the Oxymorphone "The Oxymorphone HCL is currently unavailable until further notice go to the litigation with the brand manufacturer. The item has not been discontinued, however it is on a long-term backorder. At this time Activas does not have a release date for this item. Thank you Activas Pharmaceutical Company. " , I love the way they use long-term, backorder ,and not discontinued . All in the same message this is really give me some info hot LOL

What other generics are their to choose from besides the global? And that breaks up like the ACTIVIS? Are there any?

Nothing. Globals and Activas.. I'm up a ladder without any steps. Just got a life back and DEA rips her out from under me. 3 years suffering and searching for what I can take and still manage my life as originally. Unseen pain is the worst thing that any one can go through. No two people are same and no medication affects any two the same so it takes adjustments and physicians that understand you. I really don't want know one to judge this statement "but Dea is the capital one issue for opioid addicts. It's cheap and available. "I myself will not go there. But I can see why some people have too. They are judged and no one can see what happens inside the body other than the facts but the pain is worse than natural birth and I can say that bc I gave natural birth in a 42 hour labor pregnancy. No meds at all and it wasn't intentional. Long story. Anyway. My Pharmacist said he"ll keep pushing but it's a long time away. At least 3 mths or more.

How many Oxymorphone 10 mg IR's would be equivalent to an Oxymorphone 30mg ER?

I'm been on Opana ER for 4 years and when I was on my wife insurance plan they covered the generic Opana ER but when my SSDI kicked in and got on Medicare they only cover the name brand not the generic which sucks. I first started on 20 mg but I would have to take 30 mg when I went to name brand and now I take 60 mg. My pharmacy said it cost my insurance $600 more than the generic per month. I was taking OxyContin before I went on Opana ER because Medicare didn't cover OxyContin so I switch me 4 months before my Medicare kicked in and it help the pain so much better. It sucked I would have to take double the mg of Opana ER compared to the generic form of it. He said that I could try fentanyl since the Opana ER isn't working that well anymore. I also take Percocet 10/325 2 tablets 4 times a day for breakthrough pain which is constant so I take it every day as directed but it's not enough so I'm in pain 24/7 365. The only time the pain is not too bad is when I get my injections but they only help the pain in that particular area. My doctor will not give me anymore injections because he didn't properly clean a injection site in my hip that caused a severe infection that caused me to have a surgery and 12 days in the hospital and the infection came back three times after getting out of the hospital I went back in for another 9 more days in the hospital because of the infection and then being on the antibiotics caused major diarrhea which my prescription medications didn't touch it and my potassium dropped so low my heart almost stop on a couple occasion. So I spent 45 days in the hospital all because of these injections this year so far. I'm only 38 years old and I take 38 prescription medications I have a long list of health issues. My PM doctor admitted he was the cause of the infection and he called me at 4 or 5 times in the hospital and even on weekends plus he stopped by and visited plus follow my care and gave me his cell phone number. So I didn't sue him but I can still do it because it been 6 months and my hip is still extremely painful and I can sleep on either hip and I sleep on my side so now I can't sleep that well laying on my back. So is fentanyl better than Opana ER. I know it's a patch instead of a pill and I know it's one on the strongest pain medications on the market from what I have read.

Sorry to hear your in a lot of pain. That really has to suck. I would seriously consider suing your doctor as this sounds long term and costly. But that's just me. Now why are you only taking perc 10's? I would switch to oxycodone 30mg and try the Fentanyl 75 or 100 microgram patches and yes Fentanyl is the strongest thing out there for pain. It's 50 to 100x's stronger than morphine and they say it lasts for 72 hours or 3 days. I find in reality it only lasts for 2 days, maybe 2 n a half. But be aware Fentanyl is a b**** to come off of. I mean the worst withdrawal you'll ever experience. And second you can't go up to anything stronger, that's it!! I currently take the oxymorphone 30mg ER'S 2 a day and the oxycodone 30mg 4 a day. I am gonna try and get bumped up to 90 which is 3 oxymorphone a day which I find myself needing more often than not. Good luck, do your research and post again after you make up your mind. I'm instrested on what you decide to take and would like to know how you like the Fentanyl.

I was prescribed Opana 30mg er about 5 years ago. Supposedly there were no generic. I found Oxymorphone 15mg er but the pharmacies wouldn't fill the scrip unless it was written exactly as Oxymorphone 15mg er and not Opana. I'm currently in a physical therapy rehab and they have been giving me round orange colored pills marked 30. I am assuming that theses are generic as the 30mg Opana er were a hexagon shape

I live in Texarkana, Texas. Right on the Texas- Arkansas state line. Also only 30 mins from La state line. After going to my current Pain Management doctor for almost 7 years, he came to my appt in March saying there are new rules that will be coming down in the near future, so he is letting go any patients w red flags and cutting everyone back on their meds. He works for a pain management office whose owners own 3-4 more offices in Arkansas. The next appt the doctor told me if he didn't cut everyone back, the government could eventually close their doors and that's not something the owners will tolerate. Whether we are in pain or not, we were going to continue to be cut back. Each appt since then, he has continually cut back my pain medicine. My pain level has gone sky high and quality of life is pretty much non existent at this point. I am 48 and have a young son who requires my involvement w/ him at all times. I can't just check out..I have gone to this doctor for so many years. He was vital in helping me find the right meds that worked for me without over medicating. I had come to him after going to a different pain management doctor (it was the first one I had ever gone to) who was over medicating me on methadone. My current doctor worked w me and after months of trying different things, finally found something that worked without it being TOO MUCH. He was the one who helped me so very much when I applied for disability and his testimony was the final factor that allowed it to be approved. I have sang his praises for years and have done exactly like he's said to do and have referred him to many, many people. Now, to my utter amazement and horror, he has started telling me that it's all in my head! I have been totally flabbergasted and feel betrayed. I have been cut back 3 tabs of oxycodone 30 and hydrocodone 10/325 within the last 4 months. After being such a kind, compassionate doctor who believed in me. Fought for me, supported me, and KNEW I WAS IN PAIN...he has turned into a hardened doctor overnight who was at first acting like his bosses would not tolerate any audits that would lead to them losing a business to just telling me that my pain is all in my head. I HAVE to find another Pain Management doctor within an hours drive from my home in Texarkana, Tx. If anyone can point me in the right direction of a caring, compassionate doctor who is willing to help someone w/ legitimate pain and desperately needs help, please, PLEASE write to me and point me in the direction I need to go. I've got to find a new doctor right away. I'm pretty much a creature of habit and not the type of patient who is always on the lookout for a newer or better doctor. As long as I can find a good doctor who will help me, I will be forever loyal to him....

I am so sick of walgreens I've been going there for 6 months now filling the same scripts at the same walgreens. The two narcotics are oxycodone 30mg 112# @ 30mg oxymorphone 60# among other non - narcotics I have great insurance that I pay a lot for every month. Since day one the oxymorphone was on back order or so they said. So I was told to drop my script off 5 days before so in case they had to order them I would get them on time. So 2weeks after I dropped it off the very first time I finally got them. Second month only waited 5 days after I dropped it off, 3rd month waited 3 days thought everything was getting better. Then I started seeing all new pharmacist's 4th & 5th month now my 6th month there I go to drop it off and I was a week early cause of 4th of July they told me they could not take my script until the 10th cause that's when I can fill again. I explained to them they have had trouble in the past getting them so I want to leave it with them in case they have to order them and I don't run into a problem. The lady tells me they can no longer take my script early they don't want to b responsible in case they loose it (?) Plus she said they had them in Stock just come back on the 10th I said o.k. I go in the 10th witch is a Sunday and there's a new pharmacist he said "today's Sunday and the doctor isen't in so if I call today and no one answers I'll have to red flag you"???? I was like what red flag for what? So I take my script back n go back the next day Monday the same a-hole guy is there I tell him I spoke to my pain Office and everything is all set. I wait all day he says he can't reach the doctor so no filling that day. I go back Tuesday now there's a different pharmacist and I say I'm here to pick up my script the guy says I still haven't spoken to the doctor!!! Well now PISSED I said what is protocol here in this situation I've been coming here 6 months now and I'm gonna start being sick if I don't get these I'm 3 days late now!!! He tells me to hold on a min, 15min later he filled my script and he never did speak to the doctor now can someone please explain to me why this is happening, besides that the other pharmacist was playing GOD and abusing his power as a pharmacist and had a personal venedda against me and the meds I was getting!! This shouldn't be happening by the way I live in Florida

A second generic oxymorphone ER maker available
I was using the Impax\Global version and then a month ago the pharmacy I use get the Actavis generic for Opana\oxymorphone ER. Just letting everyone know its essentially the same as the original Opana (preplastic tamper-proof additives) & by my estimation just as effective as the Global generic...so hopefully that will help in availability..where 1 pharmacy having issue with getting the Global brand can now order it from Actavis...with the same efficacy\effectiveness as the Impax\Global variety
Thank goodness for competition

I heard from a good friend who lived in Florida and is in chronic pain like me. She was always complaining about one problem or another. I think Florida has passed some pretty strict new rules about narcotic prescriptions after they shut down all those pill mills. But I think your issue is exactly like you said a pharmacist playing God and abusing their power because they have a personal opinion about people who use narcotics. I was a pharmacist in Georgia and we filled narcotic scripts all the time no big deal. We kept pretty much every drug that could be prescribed even if we had no patients on it just in case someone was going to need it. We didn't care what you were prescribed we were pharmacists and we did our job filling medications, period simple as that. But the company hired a new pharmacist that had a really bad opinion about people who were given narcotics. We always clashed because she was actually cruel to patients. Holding their prescriptions, not answering their questions, making them wait a ridiculous amount of time. We argued constantly, but the company we worked for refused to do anything because a pharmacist is considered an asset that is too expensive to replace. You rarely see a pharmacist fired unless they do something completely terrible. I'm sorry to say this behavior exists so everyone out there thinking they must be imagining it don't second guess yourself. Some pharmacists really do believe everyone on narcotics is abusing them and are treating you badly because they can. Immediately take your prescription somewhere else. She hated me too not just because we had different viewpoints on everything, but because I too have chronic pain and I was filling my oxycodone prescription at the pharmacy we both worked at so she could see that. I can no longer work because of my chronic illness but I still know all the same information including inside info. I moved to Tennessee, but I let pharmacies know that I know what crap they are pulling and either they fill my script without giving me issues or I take my script back. And give them an ass chewing letting them know I am a pharmacist and I know they are lying. This is just a story about behind the scenes to help pain patients. Pharmacists are not Gods by a long shot and you deserve to be treated with dignity. Screw the ones who won't do their jobs unbiasedly!!!!

Thank you so much for your inside info on the BULLS*** these pharmacist's pull!!! It makes me feel better knowing I'm not just imagining these people playing GOD. I'm sorry to hear you can no longer work due to your pain I hope I can continue working long from now just as long as I don't run into anymore problems. And you are exactly right about FL having super strict and new laws about these narcotics. As far as taking my script somewhere else the only problem with that is I can just see myself running into the same situation at other places. That's why I stay at this s***ty walgreens I thought them seeing that I've been going there for 7 months in a row, would give me some kind of upper hand as far as not having a problem I guess I'll see 10 days from now if their still gonna mistreat me. If they do I will try a different walgreens down the road from me. Thank you again for your valuable insight. I'll be posting again in 11 days.

P.S. is their anything that can be said to the pharmacist cause when I told the one "what's going on here what's the protocol in this situation I've been waiting 3 days now to no avail if I don't fill these today I'm going to be sick" ten minutes later they were filled, just a little weird is all, thought I'd share that bit of info with ya...
