the funniest part of them changing the pills for abuse is that they made things worse. people are buying more of the pills to abuse to get high because they are less potent. and you cant crush and sniff itt ? yess you can. people unbend hose clamps and shave the pill than sniff it. these manufacturers just made it worse for the people who NEED the medication and the ones abusing it.

Are you kidding me? Titanium dioxide in your pain medication is freaking you out? You know how I know you're an addict? You have checked out all of the ingredients in your pills, but not in your Hostess cupcakes. Titanium Dioxide is in them, too. In fact, it's in most foods you eat. It's used for coloring.

Why do you assume a pharmaceutical company would rather give you cancer than let you snort their drug? That's retarded. If you're taking their medication regularly enough to run even the slightest (i.e., impossible) risk of getting cancer, chances are you already have it, and that's why this stuff was prescribed to you.

In other words, the only way their medication is going to kill you is if you continue to smoke it off of tin foil.

Hello I am writing in regards to the new OP formula that is making all of us so sick and awful side effects There is a number with the email address to contact these people from purdue pharma. They are not spokesmen but are there to take feedback and complaints. Here are there names and emails to contact them. I got there info from another web site on the new effects people are suffering from there newly formulated Oxycontin pills OP. Good Luck to you all. If we don't say anything or take actions then they will not know or do a thing to fix this MAJOR Problem with this new poison they are distributing to us. Contact call or write to these men if you are having problems with this new medication.

The new OP (all strengths) will be replacing the regular OC version by the end of 2010. Many people are having problems with this new medication. Here is Purdue's official statement and the reps you can contact with any concerns/complaints, or questions you may have.

Yes mam I do need them (did I’ll take my chances without), rear ended on a highway in 1994, don’t need to list all the breaks, bad knee surgery, forgot when that was done? Left me with a painful limp. I just rebroke my right foot Aug 2009; meniscus tear in my knee put me out 3 months of work Mar-May 2010, pain I can tell you about pain. My right ankle is deformed from turning it and breaking it a number of times. Ever have fractured ribs? That is the worst, the rib won't heal, I feel as I type, didn’t under OC's. But you know when YOU see the quality of life I had for 40 days these pains are never going to equal wanting to meet your maker in the worst way, I can retire and be waited hand and foot if need be. I just want people to know to seek emergency room attention immediately if experiencing any side effects from Oxycontin OP, I should have and I wouldn’t have suffered. When a GI has given his life for our country we at least owe him some quality of care, don’t you think? Today was a bad day with pain (and I’m still on Opiates), otherwise I could have sat here letting you know all my pains, but please don’t ever tell someone you must have “not†needed them, I’m not judging are you? I’d love nothing more to see the abusers and ones that are suffering to get off this not so merry-go-round!

I'm sorry Enuf4Me, but if you are happy without pain meds, then you obviously never needed them in the first place. Please don't come on here and tell people who have ZERO quality of life w/out them that they need to detoxify when you couldn't possibly know what life is like living in constant pure agony. I don't want to sound mean but if only you lived a day in my shoes you would never utter those words again. I'm in my 30s yet have a disease that ages 'parts' of me 5x faster than that of a normal person. If only you knew what that did to a body!

Dear Mike, I know exactly what your going thru and I pray for you, I almost died off the new Oxycontin OP, I didn't want to live any more I hurt so bad, but the pain I was having was from the withdrawls, it was worse than the pain that I was being treated for, so trust me I know I took the poison for 40 days, I know, I was freaking out at work with tremors and everything. I hope you can find a doc and meds that really do work for you. My new doc says I should have never been on this in the 1st place. Please get help ASAP!

Thank you for responding so quickly. As far as not taking anything for the pain, I wish that was an option for me. Without something to at least dull the pain, I'm useless to my child (and my own little fur babies). My pain cause is quite a long & complicated story as well as still not properly diagnosed. Since I was in my 20s, I've had the 'body of a 90yr old' as I've been told by my Drs. I developed osteoporosis at around the age of 21 (due to my body not metabolizing certain foods) and since then its been downhill from there. I've damaged my back to the point of surgery no longer being an option. Just recently the pain has started spreading throughout my body...my legs, arms, knees, etc. I had a nerve damage test done about a month or so ago on both legs. Results came back as no damage at all so yet again another mystery. I have broken or fractured more bones than I care to recall, this due to the osteoporosis. I have RA in my neck as well as almost every single disk in my spine herniated. Its a daily struggle to not cry & just lay in bed. I was on oxycontin 40mg 3x a day. Prior to that I was on IR oxy but the amount I had to take just kept getting larger & larger. I was petrified when I moved and started seeing my current Dr who recommended oxycontin. I gave in and started the 3 pills a day. It was wonderful as I never once had to up my dosage. I was.so happy to have found something like that...then the formula was changed. The original definitely didn't take my pain away, nothing will, but I functioned well & was as happy as one could be in my position. Once I started on the new formula, it took me a bit to realize that something had changed with the med. I had thought it was me & chalked it up to the fact that my pain was just becoming more intolerable. I didn't want to up the dosage I was taking so I tried to push through it. Eventually the headaches, drowsiness, etc started to become constant. I started to research if it was possible after 3yrs on oxycontin to suddenly develop side effects. No one had told me of a change to my med, so when I saw all these threads online about the new 'OP', it all fell into place. So I had an answer to WHY this was happening but I still am searching for my answer of how to deal with this change. You said Exalgo was a morphine base? Now I'm confused as the reason my Dr decided on Exalgo was bc I am allergic to morphine. I just can't believe there can be no other options than oxycodone or morphine? I'm searching for info on this Exalgo but there is not much out.there except from the pharma companies & fda. I would love to hear from someone who has tried this med after being on oxycontin as I have such a fear of medications, especially ones that are relatively new. Thanks again for responding & I apologize for any typos as I'm on my mobile phone & can not scroll up to see any mistakes

Well I am a retired ARMY officer that has served my country. I was on oxycontin since 2007 from a accident I suffered while I served in Afghanistan. I fell into a abandoned well and shattered my pelvis, and broke my Femur. My leg has been amputated at mid thigh from the break and I was laying in a well for 11 hours until I was removed. I never wanted to be on pain meds and refused them at first. I have tried so hard to get my life back and I will never be the same as I was prior to this incident. Let me tell you I am a strong will man and I can take pain. The oxy oc formula worked so good for me until this new OP came out. You dont want to know what I have been though since this change. I have lost my will to live and quality of life. Then I read these comments directed at myself and other true Chronic Pain Patients and refer me to drug addict and loser's ect. Now if you seen my leg and my hip then you would see why I needed the pain med's. How can you cold hearted ruthless people come on these forums and say these terrible statements and lies about a drug that you have NO clue about what your talking about. You people make me sick.

Dear Frightened; I'm not sure what pain your taking meds for, but since I'm off Oxy, I can think more clearly (some of the time, I was with my doctor 17 years, not 11), I look around and sense things are different then when I was on the stuff trying to get energy back, and My MC never started the whole time, I cramped but nothing until weeks off of this OP. I found a doctor that knows what all these meds due to us in a long run and deals with the cause of the pain, not masking it, after over 7 years on this stuff it won't be easy coming off, but I know now it's a blessing. I know I deserve better. I was also taking Valium for the anxiety, guess what? Anxiety is way down, almost non-existent! Detoxifying is (fill in the blank), but what's worse a feeling of hopeless anxiety or a life of freedom from this carp? I pray you find relief one way or another, your baby deserves that much, not being mean or anything, I have fur babies that suffered while I did, as well as friends and family. BTW, Exalgo is a derivative of morphine, to be specific, a hydrogenated ketone thereof and, therefore, a semi-synthetic drug.

So I saw my Dr & told him everything that was going on with my menstrual cycle not stopping, hormones all over the place, poor blood test results, ect. He switched me to Exalgo although he did so only bc I told him I refuse the new OPs. He insists they are perfectly safe & he is actually a very brilliant Dr. I'm just so confused. If my insurance approves the Exalgo, I will be giving it a try but I'm definitely nervous to start what is basically a brand new medicine, not many people are taking this. Does anyone here know anything about Exalgo? Will there be a withdrawal/adjustment period? I have a small child & can't mess around trying med after med. I need to get this right & get my life back! Can I say it again....I hate Perdue for screwing with the lives of people who hurt!

I also had the NEW OP's, started December 6, 2010. Like everyone else, thought nothing of the bottle, took one 30mg at 4 am, another at around 2pm every day for the last 7 years (the old OC formula). Like everyone else I fell apart and fell fast on the new OP, I couldn't function, couldn't go to the bathroom, and couldn’t even think, confusion was part of every day, along with pains I've never felt before, I’ve been without work for over a month. I returned to the doctor, he sent me to a rumortory specialist, came back with nothing cept low vitamin c. Every doctor I went to was baffled. Until I looked up "hives" there it was "new Oxycontinâ€! I was so ill, still am, I wanted off everything when the doctor didn’t agree with Opana, the doctor first switched to 7.5, 500 mg's of Percocet. The doctor has not called me back since I stated I wanted to taper off from the Perc’s, hmmm maybe Purdue phoned him, 11 years with this doc and I never once have not gotten a phone call returned the same day! I moved on to another doctor that is weaning me off opiates, and I'll take day-by-day from there, I never want to go on another ride like I went on for the 40 days I took those OP's not knowing WTH was going on, look up bezoars’, that's what you’ll end up with, not fun at all! Take note, while the OP’s clog and take over your system, you’ll have pain you never had in life before, hands will draw up/swell and hurt, headaches, earaches and gum in the ears, nose bleeds, knees will feel like someone took baseball bat to them, stomach will cramp and hurt while you bloat, everything started to bloat, good Lord I could go on and on. Not worth it to me!

I did the same thing on Monday.. Remember the change will not be exactly the same, but you will do just fine and most likey save some $$$ and long term stress. Just give your body a chance to get used to the change.. It will only be a couple of days.. Hang tuff.. OP is not worth it....

I am asking my doctor for a change and specifically stating that I do not want ANY drugs manufacturered by Purdue or any of its affiliated companies. Perhaps all of us who are having problems with the new Oxycontin formula should do the same thing.

I have been taking oxycontin for a few years now. I'm so frightened about this new formula, its consuming me. I have had terrible side effects as most people here but I do feel my body slowly adjusting to the common side effects. The drowsiness however is horrendous. I have had other problems arise since taking this new formula, not so much side effects, but health problems. My body is completely changing. I recently went to my OBGYN due to major hormonal changes. My blood work just came back and when compared to blood work done less than 6 months ago, the changes have baffled my Dr. I'm being sent for a slew of other tests but in the meantime, I am PETRIFIED! I'm a mother & I am at a loss over what to do. Although this new formula of oxycontin does not help me to deal with my pain even close to the old formula, it must be helping at some level as if it didn't, I would be bedridden from the pain. Prior to the OP I was much more able to play with my young child & do necessary everyday tasks. Now, I am getting through each day as best I can, but it has been very hard & very PAINFUL! I would like nothing more than to just not have to worry about this. All I can think about is the possible damage being done to my body. If I take nothing for my pain, then I'm basically bed ridden & useless. If I continue on this path of taking a pain medication that is now only slightly helping me, yes, Il be able to 'make it' through each day, but at what cost?! Damn it, I'm furious! Will I even BE HERE for my child in a few years?! This sounds so dramatic, but sadly this is exactly the situation. This medicine is causing further health problems in me, fact. I do not yet know to what extent & I don't want to find out when its 'too late'. I have been on morphine based meds in the past & had horrible allergic reactions. I apologize for going on about this, but I don't know where to turn from here. My pain management doctor is against instant release, which I have been on in the past. I did not ask to be switched to that as I found the continuous release worked much better for me...but now, not even close. Something needs to be done, and FAST as I can't live like this, in pain, further health problems arising & worried! I know there are so many others worried about what the new formula is doing to them. I'm telling you now, get your blood work done & whatever other tests that may be called for. I am going tomorrow for a sonogram, hopefully that can tell my Dr more. I feel for you all. And please, if you are taking this medicine for recreational purposes, I'm not here to judge you, but by all means, YOU can do without what is possibly a very damaging drug (in more ways than one). It is the people who depend on this for a better quality of life that need the most help right now. For ONCE, can the government/drug companies/whoever PLEASE consider the people for whom this drug was intended & be upfront and honest. More studies, ANYTHING. I am SCREAMING for help!!

This has been stated many times over
This is not true Prudue no longer disburses these to the U.S if your in Canada or Mexico you can get them but they are not marked with the OC
Anyone that wants to verify this call Prudue no matter what the DR writes you will not get them

I understand the old Oxycontin is still available. You just have to have your doctor write for it ON HIS LETTERHEAD, stating the reason why you need the original version. Hope this helps. God bless you.

Just to fill everyone in.. My Dr. does not want me on the OP.. He claimed testing of these were not done on humans. He also claimed he was not aware that the generics were not availabe.. Put me on MS Contin 60x2 to start.. With Perc's for break through.. So I will see how it goes.. I think Perdue is going to lose a lot of $$... Please wish me luck!!!
