Has it been 7 years already? They must have been able to renew the patent. Good for them. Lets wait & see how long it takes for pharmacies to start getting held up at gunpoint again. Put some more people in the privately run for profit prisons. They've got the money so they can make the rules. Whoops make more money on those people that had to go the illegal route for their drugs, ooops, sorry again for speaking out of turn, again, medicine, as pathetic as it sounds. Want to say more, as always, gotta stop now though. George Orwell summed it up pretty well in his book,1984. Big Brother is watching. Know what the most secure form of correspondence is, has been, snail mail. I wouldn't know how to get this out there, to all of you in my position without our "Interweb". I learned from the Army & DAV, ALWAYS keep actual paperwork. Pisses me off when I hear the term (but the computer SAYS). More ranting always to share, but I'm tired. This little monitor is killing me.

Is oxycontin going back two of the original OC formula because the op is making me sick and from what I'm hearing I'm not the only one it's making sick I take the medication for legitimate purposes
I've been shot a few times during the war and I don't have too many alternatives medication wise

We druggies haven't moved on to something else were waitin for the ocs to come back as much as u are they were the best and strongest drugs out there they gave the best high nothin has been able to replace it since !

well if u want it to act allitle more like oc's than put in the oven (on Broil) until the OP(ON in canada) MELTS! once it melts let it begin to turn brown, ofcourse too brown and its ruined I would lean closer to the clear melted colour than the brown(cooked) thats it, the delivery matrix is beat(If not, severely weak'nd)

also so tid for tat... in 2013 the patent for oxycontin runs out, meaning that purdue no longer has exclusive rights to manufacture it. heres to hoping

Id like to inform you uniformed people predue is not changing back the forumala to the old m stylem simple because the fda wont allow it there are 10 companies trying to get patent on the oxycontin forulmula but they cant get passed because the fda wants a antiabuse tamper proof built into the pills so for all myoupeople who hope to get the old oc it's not happening no matter what bulls*** you here i work for perdue and i will say for sure it wont happen sorry for the bad news but it's the truth

To "kt in legit pain": I'm 61 years old and also have fibromyalgia. I've been on Oxycontin for about 12 years, along with trying various meds (one at a time!) for breakthrough pain. You are absolutely right about the abusers making the life of legitimate pain patients so much more difficult. I have a great doctor now who knows me well but I've lived in 4 different places since I was diagnosed 20 years ago and the worst part of moving was trying to find a doctor and pharmacist who didn't treat me like I was an abuser/addict just because I needed strong pain medication. This is a direct result of the widespread misuse of these drugs by people manipulating them just to get high. As for Purdue Pharma fighting to get the OC formulation of Oxycontin returned to the market, don't hold your breath, for a number of reasons! First, Purdue's patent on the OP version runs until 2025 so they can keep charging an artificially high price for their Oxycontin at least until then. Second, the FDA just ruled that the generic OC version, which could be manufactured by other companies and thus produce competition and lower prices, is NOT going to be allowed back on the market. Other companies even have to develop their own version of the tamper-resistant form (OP) first before they can market it AFTER 2025. Even though feedback from pain patients is that the new formulation isn't as effective, takes much longer to work (which is true!), and has additional side effects, you must always remember that the FDA isn't thinking of the pain patient but of the addicts and abusers. Their line is that they can't let the original formulation back on the market because of it's abuse potential, overlooking the fact that the Internet is flooded with information from addicts who are already sharing the ways they've figured out to get around the anti-abuse features. Again, the FDA's decision is fine with Purdue-Pharma; it gives them at least another 12 years of being the exclusive producers of the very expensive Oxycontin. After that, they'll probably do what they've done in the past--"tweak" the formula so they can claim they've produced a "new" Oxycontin on which they'll hold the patent until some time far, far in the future...and on and on it goes. We must remember that there are at least three basic principles which govern the production of this important tool of pain relief for suffering people. One, as far as the FDA is concerned, the addict/abuser's well-being comes before that of the pain patient in agony. Two, the FDA apparently believes that ANYONE who takes Oxycontin is an abuser/addict. For them, there is no differentiation between law-abiding users who follow the directions on a legitimate prescription and the abuser/addicts. Suffering patients are also "bad", must be saved from themselves, and are guilty until they can prove their innocence. This assumption extends to insurance companies, pharmacists and SOME doctors. And, three, as far as the manufacturer is concerned, money and greed are always the most important determinate factors in their decisions.

Taking the real hit for all this arrogance, politics, and greed is the chronic pain patient who suffers daily agony and whose life has deteriorated as a result. Insurance companies will start to refuse to pay for the more expensive Oxycontin and they, rather than your doctor, will be the one deciding what medication and/or how much of it is necessary to control your pain. In my own experience, this is already happening. I had been taking 6 - 40 mg Oxycontin per day for the last several years with no increases. (That's 240 mg per day.) My insurance company has now decided that (with THEIR special prior authorization, of course) that they won't pay for this--but they WILL pay for 4 - 60 mg Oxycontin or 3 - 80 mg Oxycontin. Those scenarios are also 240 mg per day. Neither controls my pain as well as using the 40's; I must either take too many mg at one time or not enough, given my pain pattern throughout the day. The difference is not in the number of mg/per day but in the number of pills. There are two possible reasons for this. One is that they are paying a certain amount per pill so fewer pills equals lower cost; they're not concerned about the effectiveness of the actual pain control. The second reason, I can only assume, is that they figure if I have 6 pills, I probably only need 3 and I can sell the other 3. If I only have 4 pills (60's) or 3 pills (80's), that's leaves fewer pills for me to sell. Of course, I'm not selling them nor have I ever done so--again, the abuser/addicts behaviors are controlling my medical treatment.

"...no matter what bull**** you here" should have a verb between "you" and "here" (like "write") and "get patent" should be "get a patent". I've probably missed some. This doesn't even begin to address the lack of punctuation (correct or otherwise) and lack of capital letters at the beginning of sentences. You say you work for Purdue (although you used two different spellings of the company name, both incorrect). I can only hope your job is one that doesn't require competence in writing the English language.
