You think Dr's and pharmacies actually care if the meds work or not. It's all about money to them. The way you talk you've never had chronic pain or never had to take BS meds to try to relieve it. You should really keep your mouth shut if you don't have a clue what yours talking about. It's highly offensive to the rest of us that do have to live with it.

This is exactly as I feel. I don't like to feel high! I switched to ms contin for believe it or not they give more pain relief without so much feeling sick to your stomach as new formulation of Oxicontin, made me feel. I actually felt normal again with the original oxicontin! I got out of bed and people around me thought I was well again, as I also was able to go back to work!I cannot function as well on ms contin, therefore most days I end up back on my bed. That never happened on the original oxycontin! One thing I liked about the original oxy is it didn't make me feel tired as all other er medications do. At this point Opana is ruined too...no relief of pain & I went through withdrawal symptoms the month I tried them. I had tried them before they changed, but felt that tiredness in my head. I don't like to feel or look dopey. I never wanted to be on pain meds & tried all else for many years! I would love to work again besides selling on ebay, but that's all i can do from my bed because although pain is relieved they keep me tired. I miss the quality of my life on the original oxy. Makes me angry people had to abuse such a serious medication, which helps people who really needed it for serious medical issues. The one medicine which let me feel myself again with no side effects but gave pain relief enough to work & feel a functional person in society. I pray one day the world stops catering to people who abuse meds & put seriously ill patients on top of priorities....

Here is a fact about the new generic as of yesterday 1/6/17. I went to pick up my script of 80's. It was my first script of the new year. I received a text saying it was ready and the amount was over $1200. I was confused because my copay is only $55. As i get to the pharmacy they say my insurance will only cover the new generics as of 1/1/17. My pharmacist researches his local, state and national computer. He speaks with 2 people, the 1st his distributor who says he has the generic in stock but it will be 5 days before he can send it out. The second call was to another pharmacist in another state. This pharmacist stated that the generic 80mg are going fast for 2 reasons: 1st if you have insurance they will only cover the generics and not the brand. And he stated the they are the same formula, the original before the OP's came out in 2010. My pharmacist showed me a picture of the new generics and they were the real deal. The out of state pharmacist mentioned that customers who did not have insurance had to purchase the op brand since he was ordered to save the generic for insurance customers. Makes sense, insurance companies pay the bills. As to my high price once my insurance company was informed that no generics were available in my area and that i could not go without my dose for 5 days they fixed my copay. They realized how dangerous and fatal it can be to go without. ORIGINAL BRAND is back via generic. Good Luck. I hope this helps answer some questions.

Do you know what brand of generic it is that is going back to the original formula? I've been taking pain meds for over 6 years and I can't take morphine any more. It ties my stomach in a knot so tight I can't function. I'd definitely switch to the OC if they went back to the originals

What year did u notice that the morphine upset your stomach. I toook it many years. ENDO 30 mg time release also MS CONTIN 30 mg. Never had any problems. In about 2010? Maybe earlier I think, I could no longer take it. Made both by stomach AND my kidneys feel as tho I'd been kicked. And both made my heart RACE and jump and skip. I'd get so dizzy. Even my gums and thirst felt as though they were burning. My legs would shake. Horrible heachace sbd sooo shaky. It was just so weird. Took me a while to realize it was the medication. I figured out why tho, the 2 Nd to last refill of MS continue looked just like always. however, some of that bottle had the same medication made by same co. But were lighter in color. I finally noticed it was those that affected me!
They even made me throw up and I noticed the pill was kind of a gelatinous goop. Not really dissolving.
Thankfully I had some extra of the darker green ones that didn't affect me and never had. So I took those. Thinking I just got a weird batch.
But the next month came, got my refill and it was ALL the lighter color tablets. Again , this was made by the same manufacturer ending. Same strength. Same pharmacy.
Anyway I could NOT take ANY of those. Just could not. Not even to avoid WD.
Thankfully my dr believed me.
He told me to ask for a diff brand. I did.
Ethex. Was fine on those for about 9 months. Then the EXACT same thing happened. This was right about the time that EXTHIX had a recall on these drugs. And so did ENDO. BUT I DIDNT find out about the recall until 2 yrs later!
They said it was because they were oversized and contained to much medication. Apparently some people even died. That was BS. They were not larger I was not getting more medication. In fact I felt as tho I was going thru WD.
ALSO THe " bad" ones had a kind of bitter taste. Kind of dirty taste. Can't explain it. It reminded me of the smell of honing oil. My father used in his shop when I was little. ( I was 52 when this all happened )
We decided I'd become allergic to the binders. So them I had to have my medication compounded. Made in a clear liquid. No color. Again was fine for about a year. Then I got my new refill the first thing I noticed was that bitter dirty taste. I thought ooh nooo.
But swallowed it anyway.
OMG. In about 15 minutes. I could feel the shakes start in my thighs. The knot in my stomach and back ( kidneys) and the burning gums and throat.
I never did figure it out.
I was switched to fentanyl patches to avoid digestion of it all together.
Thankfully these have worked for me.
But I so much would like an honest answer of what is going on with our medicines coming into the country.
Oh. One more thing. Inbeteeen all this, my right kidney tube ruptured. I don't know if it was related or not. I think it was. I DO have allergies to medications.
But I don't think this was all just me.
I don't think the recall was just because the pills were " oversized". I think they were contaminated with something else.
There really is NOT a standard for cleaning the machines in between batches. There is a guide line and it is hoped that theses co practice IT. I can't recall the name of it.
But contamination DOES happen in pharmaceuticals. We just hear about it usually if ever until someone gets sick or an employee blows the whistle on a company. Anyway I'd love to hear if anyone else had issues like this.
I did as much research as I could on line and speaking to pharmaceutical mnf co and pharmacists.
Thanks. Sorry this was so long. Actually there's even more that I DID find out. .. lol. But all hear say.
I don't want overload u you all.
Thank you

I am so sorry that your being treated that way!! You go and protect your country and are disrespected that's unforgivable. I don't understand how some people can be so self involved! I can't help but care. I was diagnosed with an extremely rare chronic pain/kidney disease but for the first 3 years I was treated like an addict. Once I got diagnosed I wanted to do d the dozens of DR's who dismissed me because they thought I must of been making it up.
I'm not an angry or vindictive person by any means. But I think drs need to be accountable for their mistakes, or at least be Aware oh them. So maybe the next time a young healthy woman with blood in her urine and in such excruciating pain she had been crying for days and unable to keep even meds down.
Just because you can't see the answer right in front of you doesn't automatically make me a lying addict. Good luck to everyone! I hope you all get the good stuff back!

So r u saying the new generics look like the old OxyContin that had the letters OC instead of OP? It's the OPs that we're making everyone sick after they changed the formula. Also I wrote a post about the endo MS Contin making me ill, when they never had before. This happened when then were reformulating the OC into OP. I've wondered if they didn't slip some of the stuff used in the new op into endo Mc contin. I had NEVER had a problem with. A few times I threw up after taking the endo me contin I noticed it was not breaking down in my stomach. Tho I never had OCs I have read of people saying the same thing after they had been reformulated. I dunno. I hate NOT knowing the truth about our medication. So much of the medicine sold here in the US is made in countries where they hate us!! Even with non opiate medicine there are serious recalls. Levofloxacin antibiotic causing neuropathic pain in feet. Actual Achilles' tendons severing for no reason. Ball of foot and toe pain. I was put on Levo. for kidney ureter router. It made me so sick. In fact both the cipro and Levo. Made my whole body feel like it was vibrating. From the inside out. So shaky and sick. While in the hospital for this, I just pretended to take the Levo AND the morphine tabs they took me. Yes even pretended to take the morphine. That's how sick they made me. I found out later there was recall on the morphine and Levo has a black box warning of side effects. I'm mean who's actually checking/evaluating the actually ingredients being used in our medicines to make sure there's not other stuff that shouldn't be in there. NOBODY. That's who. I know I sound like a paranoid person now. But I've never had problems with medication. When ur started happening with my pain medications I still had a small stash I'd set aside in case my dr went in vaca. When I took those I could tell they were what they were supposed to be. Didn't make me sick. Didn't have that dirty taste to them either that had JUST STARTED in my last 2 refills. Something is changing. Not just me either. Lol.

Whats the manufacture name of this new original forula in genric form? It should say right on the bottle. Just curious why you left that part out as it was asked and is vital to the convo and thread?

I'm going to fill my prescription this afternoon and I'll post back what I get. Last month and for about 6 months now it has been a Sandoz generic, but it's made by Purdue for Sandoz and it's the same crappy OP formulation here in America. The only difference is it's about $150 cheaper than the Purdue brand name. I read an article about Purdue losing the legal suit from generic manufacturers to make it for the American market, but it still has to be abuse deterrent. With the way all generic narcotic analgesics have been ruined here in America I wouldn't doubt any new Oxycontin generic will be worse than the brand name or the Purdue made generic Sandoz sells under the Sandoz name. I betting it will be worse, watch out what you wish for... I'd rather be stuck with the Perdue formulation made for Sandoz than some new generic that is complete junk like other generics have become in America!

I am only saying this as a person who sees that you do need help. If you arent addicted to pain meds it should just be uncomfortable when coming off. But if your body cannot function without them then i think you may habe a problem. Have you thought about trying suboxone? When i lost my insurance a while ago i realized that i had an addiction to my medication. Then when i could no longer afford to see the dr and get my meds i turned to some pretty hard stuff before i got help. My life has been so much better since finding suboxone. I also have a disease that causes chronic pain and the suboxone helps with the pain as well and is alot more affordable than what you're going to end up paying for your meds. Again i mean no disrespect its just i read your post and it reminded me of what i went through before i turned to self medicating. If you dont care to try the suboxone then i wish you the best of luck and hope you can figure something out so your able to control your pain

It depends on the dose. If anaddict is 100 mgs of morphine a day and a person treating pain that is physically dependent but not live ing an addict life, they will go thru the same with drawl.
Both will be miserable.
It's like which weighs more a pound of feathers or a pound of lead.
It's the same. They both weigh a pound.
The addict will prob take what ever they can get their hands on and more than they should until they r good n high
The physically dependent person if they r smart will find anything also and not take more than they should. Hopefully would know enough to just nibble on them to take the edge off and not be so sick.
The physically dependent person will still be just as addicted.
But they aren't living the whole addict life style of having to always get more and take more than they should.
But they would still suffer if they just quit taking them. Just as much as the addict.
