Oxycontin 60mg Vs Oxycodone 60mg Are They The Same (Top voted first)
UpdatedI have been taking Oxycontin60mg but I am now in my coverage donut and can not afford my prescription. I had taken Oxycodone once before and it just didn't work as well. Was that phycological or is there a difference in the 2 medications. Run out of this months prescription in 3 days. Help.

The new doc wants to put you on "nuration" instead? nuration = Neurontin ?
If so, tell new doc to get lost.
oxycontin = time released oxycodone. same drug. the time release will distribute the medication over a period of time, and without it the entire dose will be administered at once.
Okay, I remove the incorrect information, because Pharma Guy is absolutely correct.
They are the same medication, Oxycodone is the active ingredient in Oxycontin, the only operative factor is that it is in a controlled release formulation.
So, whether or not the Oxycodone you get will work the same for you will also depend on whether or not it is a time released formulation, as well.
It is a narcotic pain reliever, common side effects may include:
nausea, drowsiness, dizziness and dry mouth.

Are there any other questions?
I agree. The Dr is nuts.Neurontin is an anti seizure medication. If you stop opiates abruptly, you will be very very sick.
Oh God no find another doctor as Neurontin or gabapentin are the new names will only screw with your brain. Doctors are human and afraid right now, but they are not gods so don’t be afraid to say no. You can even tell him that you tried them before and they were very bad for you the list of things is pretty great against them!
Great answerable pharma dude.Z
I am being taken off of my pain meds(oxy30mg.)due to a mixup getting my medical records from a deceased doctor in another state. Does anyone know of a good doctor that will give me a little leeway in or around dallas, texas?
I am medically retired from then Army and have been on tons of different meds. I'm on Nurotin/Gabapentin now for my seizures and supposedly nerve pain. But I can tell you that I did not get the same pain relief from the Nurotin. Sorry
OxyContin is time released and at 60 mg it is brown from Purdue, if it’s Oxycodone down it’s immediate release for breakthrough pain and that is the kind that is wanted on the street. I don’t know where you come from and I believe it’s not in New York as they put signs up everywhere that they will not go past 15 to 30 mg of Oxycodone and if you needed Xanax you have to go to the psychiatrist. I cut mine in half even though they say it’s time released; it works exactly the same as if it wasn’t. Trying to cut down doesn’t really work!
They do make what looks exactly the same from Purdue who seems to have it locked up in registry, but it is charged at the generic rate, fight for your rights to get generic as it’s made by the same people and it is exactly the same, and I am sure! Good luck
Mary, I know how much that donut hole hurts and causes me to not even be able to afford my medication and not take it which puts me in a position where I can die as I’ve already had a heart attack and I need seven things up, I found out something that really disturbed me but it worked using that GoodRx card or any of the others. Ask the pharmacist to look for any of the cards that provide assistance and several of them together can give you a price on to $10 and from $700 and that was in the first place and they took the money and the second time I found that if you ask because they certainly don’t volunteer days they don’t really care but I was amazed and it was in a CVS Which was even more shocking, RITE AID didn’t take the coupons or any of these discount cards but they actually do work especially when you’re in dire need now and in the damned donut hole! My doctor ordered a prescription of something new which was horrible called XTAMPA. Over $700, it wiped out what was left of my coverage put me right in the donut hole into months and I found out that this other way actually worked. Try it And see if it works with your pharmacist or try another pharmacist and ask first what the price would be because you’re in the donut hole and you rather go without any coverage and use the discount cards you do you. Good luck with your future needs and may they be met with this little bit of information and I know how much the fear of our reality becomes when there is no money to for any kind of payment with the numbers that are astronomical and how hard it is to have that stress awaiting you yearly as it is truly your life is on the line. I’ll say a prayer for all of us, as we do need it...
