Just wondering how the 2 drugs differ ## "Imm Rel" stands for immediate release - so Oxycodone immediate release is for fast treatment of breakthrough pain. There are other variations as well. There is normal release Oxycodone, and also controlled release Oxycodone. Those will take longer to be absorbed by the body. Hope this helps. Do you have any other questions or information to add? Do you currently distribute oxycodone er with 80 on one side and OC on the other? ## this site does not manufacture, sell, nor prescribe any medications, this is an information only website. That said, the original Oxycontin with the OC marking was manufactured by Purdue, not Ethex, they were only a licensed distributor. Additionally, the original formulation with the OC marking is no longer being manufactured. Purdue has discontinued it and is only manufacturing the new formulation with the OP marking. Are there any questions or comments?

is there a less expensive medicine than oxycontin 80 Mg TID ## There is no generic for Oxycontin, which is the time released formulation of Oxycodone from Purdue. However, there are generics available of the regular release formulation, the name brand for this is Roxicodone, but it will not last as long as the time released formulation. A time released medication that you may want to discuss with your doctor as an alternative, which is also available as a generic, is MS Contin, which contains the active ingredient Morphine. Oxycodone, however, is stronger than Morphine, so you would require a higher dosage of the MS Contin. Are there any other questions?

how does roxycotin affect a baby of a mother taking this drug? ## Oxycodone is a narcotic pain medication. Is she using it under a doctor's supervision? Whenever any medication is used that can be addictive, there is always the risk of the baby being born addicted to it. Thankfully, however, it is not known to cause birth defects.

Most Oxycodone medications are available in tablet form, there are only a few available in capsules, such as the immediate release Oxycodone. Or did you mean something your doctor specially ordered to be done by a compounding pharmacy? Oxycodone is a narcotic and will work as such, regardless of what form it is in, however, it is sometimes coupled with Acetaminophen, to enhance its effects, in preparations such as Percocet.

There can be differences in generic medications, they are allowed to differ, in the active ingredient, from the name brand by as much as plus or minus 20%. For most people, such fluctuations are not a problem, but some people are very sensitive and can experience problems. In addition, the chemical salts also do not have to be exactly identical, so if the manufacturer of the pills used one that is slightly different, that could also have caused your problem. i go to a methadone clinic and have been going for 7 yrs.they switch to a differant lab and since the very first test i took it was positive for oxycodone.i thought it was a mix up but the second month it happen again!i do not take anything but methadone and tylenol sometimes.why is this happening?the way im taking the test is a oral swab.please let me know!!!its making it very hard on me there not to metion im trying to do better yet there making it sound like im not!!!thank u sooo much! ## It is, more than likely, the fault of the type of test that their new lab is doing, especially if the switch was done, because the new lab is cheaper, which means they are using a cheaper type of test. However, there are 3 different formulations of Oxycodone that are available. Oxycontin is a time released formulation that is taken every 12 hours for severe, chronic pain and there is no generic for it available. Roxicodone is a regular release formulation of Oxycodone and it is available as a generic and the name brand. OxyIR is an instant release formulation, which is also available as a generic.
