have taken oxycodone 5mg 1-2/day for many months. GP sent me to physiatrists to deal with pain. He had me do a drug screening. The results were negative for oxycodone. He refuses to treat me because he thinks I've lied to him. Could this happen. ## What type of drug screen did he do? And how long was your last dose before taking the test?

I've been having lower back pain for 6 years I have numbness in my legs and very bad neck pain. Also I have pain and headaches from a car wreck, it sounds like stick breaking when I turn my head. I am posting this hoping that it will keep someone from an emergency ride to the ER. I have had prostatitis for weeks. Tylenol combined with naproxin have not been very effective in controlling the pain. Last night I decided to try some oxycodone left over from a 2007 back surgery. It has been stored at room temp. in a dark drawer. It smelled normal. To be “conservative” I cut a 5/325 oxycodone into four pieces and only took 1/4 of the pill. Thirty minutes later I was feeling awful and my blood pressure had shot up to 210/118. I had a rapid heart rate and it was pounding. Later, I was having chills and uncontrollable shaking. As many as you are prescribed. If this doesn't work you should discuss with your PCP and possibly change to oxycodone 5/325. Even though the amount of aspirin (325mg) is lower than others too much can have adverse effects on your liver and kidneys. Many questions here seem to be about comparing one opioid to another. Your questions need to be about either relief of not and that taking say Oxycodone 15mg is effectively treating pain. Pain from one to another is subjective at best. Morphine is engineered for lasting longer than Oxycodone IR, immediate release. Therefore at first Oxycodone works well but doesn't last, requiring another dose then morphine or Oxycontin may work better lasting through a period of time. Oxycodone really is a breakthrough pain medication. Treatment using Oxycodone for longterm pain treatment is tricky and may take months or years to get right. It took 3 years and 3 different pain management plans to find something that works fairly well. The other issue is insurance, wheres Oxycontin is a name brand tier

Can someone please tell me if one of the 5mg oxycodones without Tylenol is equal to a percocet 10mg? Is it stronger or weaker and would it only take one to equal the equivalent of a perk 10 or 2 of the oxycodone 5mg ## Hi Julie, To answer your question, 5mgs of Oxycodone quite simply does NOT equate to 10mgs of Oxycodone + 325mgs of Tylenol found in Percocet. Usually when people abbreviate the term "perk 10" this means that it contains 10mgs of Oxycodone and nothing less. So even without the Tylenol it would still be stronger than 5mgs of the same substance. I hope this makes sense! ## Simple math here....5<10 same active ingredient.

I am trying to find a doctor or pain clinic in Western Massachusetts (Springfield / Westfield Area) for my wife, the doctor she was seeing took her off the fentanyl patches and oxycodone when she got pregnant with our 3rd daughter. She was on them for a lower back problem where the disk had ruptured requiring emergency surgery and combination sciatica issues and fibromyalgia. the problem came about while my wife was pregnant the medical practice the Dr was a apart of closed down and the doctor opened her own private practice and now does not prescribe at all to anyone for any reason at all.
