Oxycodone Shortage Scam (Page 2) (Top voted first)

Guys, i hate to tell you this but its all bulls***>>> after 3 weeks trying to fill my Oxy 30, 140, i finally got to speak to my Pharm Manager who Ive used for 12 years. He told me straight up, that all the calls and people have hurt their regular business, so they decided to stop ordering Oxy in any amout to avoid the crap I was floored as all of a sudden he filled my script on the spot not 30 secs before they were all telling me they didnt have any. He told me last that would be the last one filled as hes not ordering anymore. I discussed with him about just oredering for me, as I'm legit and trying to follow the rules by using only one doctor and one pharmacy. He said he"ll consider it just for me. What a bunch S***!!! This from a guy Ive known for 12 years. It is a Walgreens, This is a conspiricy to avoid all of the drug seekers at our expense. They should go back to getting it off the street and leave us alone. How many more of us have to suffer? Im dag gone tired of being looked at as a druggy as I limp up to the counter. I spent 30 years as a cop on the job in New York, shot in the leg and arm for the citizens I swore to protect and now to be treated like the guys I put in the slammer? Im sure there are plenty of us on the blog. What the hell? Anybody know a good attorney? I guess I should start taking Morphine or Herion and sleep all day since I cant get the medication that works and this is America? Sound off you guys its the only way were going to be heard. God Bless you.

I like all these testimonials from people who supposedly work in pharmacies and then immediately say a bunch of things that make it clear that they don't have the slightest clue what they're talking about. The DEA has punished several warehouses/wholesalers with massive fines/shut downs for selling too much oxy 30 to pharmacies (including the pill mills in Florida others have mentioned), and there isn't really a clear "X amount will get you in trouble" value set out by the DEA. Wholesalers have to just kind of set arbitrary limits on how much they can sell and hope that they're within guidelines. The reality is that if I can only get a certain amount per month, and you have some s***ty Med D plan that I'm barely going to break even, or sometimes even get paid less than the cost that I paid to get the medication, I'm not going to fill that. It's nothing personal, it's how I keep the doors open. There isn't a production shortage right now, there's a shortage with how much pharmacies are allowed to buy, and it's going to keep getting worse. Talk to your doctors about taking 2x15mg tablets, or a 10mg and 20mg tablet to make the dose.

I was rear ended 5 years ago by a 19 great old girl texting someone. The accident smashed my vertebrae at levels 2, 3, and 4; I also had a radical post anterior dislocation of the left hip, my neck is full of pathology and i just had my right foot operated on - my left foot was the first to be surgically repaired. Before i left the hospital two of the cages fell out one on two different levels. After daily trips to the emergency room they finally phoned my neurologist and they immediately sent me to his office. I was then admitted that afternoon to have emergency repair work done on my back. Once they opened me up again by going through the front of my torso- before the doctor could do the repair work he sliced into the artery and had to abort the repair work and concentrate on saving many life having typo spend 7 days in intensive care because they couldn't stop the bleeding. I'm now missing one cage on two different levels which essentially is like having two of the worst ruptured disks known to mankind. They inserted two rods and 17 screws on each side along with some bone grafts but the screws are now backing out so I'm looking at yet another surgery. Eighteen months ago the pain in the hip I dislocated became totally unbearable so I was sent to an orthopedic surgeon to have a resurfacing done. Unfortunately, the guide pin broke off and the stake that's inserted in my thigh bone subsequently did a 90 degree angle turn and literally broke through my thigh bone. A few hours after coming out of that BS surgery, i went back in where Dr. Crap for Brains did a total hip replacement - the only problem was he didn't change the seat where the artificial hip joint is suppose to connect to. Now every time i bend over or do anything strenuous it feels as though my hip is going to dislocate - believe me when i say it's an awfully painful experience. Now, nobody is going to mess with my neck if I can help it! Although i lose all sensation in my right arm and hand several times every day - in fact I'm losing the feeling in my right hand currently from writing this long post.
So what I'm saying to all if you pompous a-holes about those of us who have to take pain meds is simply this: you couldn't walk a mile in my shoes! I still work as a college professor but i do a lot of many work from home teaching online. You folks have no idea how difficult it is for us. I haven't slept in a bed in years - instead i sleep in a LazyBoy chair. Oh yeah.....I'm having a friggin ball. Do me a favor, and bite your over-sized tounges...I have no use for you or the butchers that put me in this condition.

I completely agree. I worked as a legal assistant for 10 yrs before having my 2 boys. I broke my pelvis having the first child and have been on oxycodone ever since. I even went to my regular pharmacy 3 days before bringing the script in. The morning I come in with the script there is a broken window at the pharmacy and a crime scene truck and 2police cars. Basically this thef totally made out with my preordered prescription and some other controlled substances. I drove to every f'n pharmacy and not even a concrete date as to when they will have it. I'm a stay at home mom who can't even pick my kids up because of pain. In 1 pharmacy I started crying saying "don't u know how addicting and what a physical effect they have on our bodies???? How is this f***in. Possible to do this to people in real pain. Seriously looking into a discrimination suit against these pharmacies. I'm at that point. I swear I am looking into it 4sure!!!!!!!!

You are a fool and obviously have never felt the kind of pain this guy is in. Get your uneducated ideas off of this website. Maybe one day you'll wake up with severe arthritis or another type of legitimate pain and I hope no one gives you medicine. Its people like you that keep patients from taking the medications they need for pain just as much as a diabetic needs insulin. They don't want the judgment. You are the problem.
Thirty milligrams becomes a legitimate prescription as a person uses the medication long term they develop tolerance. Scientifically proven fact. The medication lasts 4-6 hours. That's 120- 180 pills a month for chronic pain.
Grow a brain and get off this website cuz obviously you don't need to be here.

Well this might explain why I have had a script for a month now and have actually been to maybe 100 pharmacies afterwork. I have been calling sams club which is where I usually fill mine at. They said they order it every week and it hasn't come in. I wonder if the pharmacist just doesn't know it is me calling (she knows me) and is telling the tech no. I am going to go in tomorrow I guess and see. They get their shipments in Friday so who knows. Though one tech knows who I am and asked for me. I have been to every walgreens, cvs, etc. I missed getting them filled a few days ago by 30 mins at 2 walgreens. Oh well I'm out of my Oxycontin now from this crap and will have a painfully sleepless night.

i know you get alot of garble on here but like sharkman or whoever said try online pharmacy for example walgreens has a mailorder service that you can order through look it up online. So does medco pharmacy online but you need group insurance like BCBS. Some doctors office have in house pharmacies which is illegal but I would try the two I recommended. Ask your doctor if he has a mailorder program offerred such as mine does. good luck bubba

Contact the manufacturer to find out where to get it. They definitely have an interest since it hits their pocketbook!

You said it so well Deb (see her in quotes below) I feel for all of you so much! I don't have cancer but after a life of hard work and several herniated disks I have now developed neuropathy (which basically means my nerves are dying) I have degenerative disk disease and 2 of my disks in my neck have stenosis which is pinching those nerves. Both of my knees need surgery and ankles give me a fit! I went on Medicare last December, finally went to a doctor and found out I also have Rheumatoid Arthritis :( I have taken Norco for 2 years with Oxy time release as a background drug. In April my daughter wrecked my vehicle and I haven't been able to visit my neurologist since last December now so I ran out of refills in May and have been without anything other than the occasional Norco from a kind neighbor. Quality of life really sucks big time. My house is a wreck not to mention my yard! I am on disability so I don't have the worry of trying to perform for someone else during this stressful time but my nerves are shot. I have panic attacks and my restless leg syndrome is back so not getting much sleep and that does not help the pain at all! As far as OTC goes I take 3 arthritis strength acetominophen or BC powders, that is the only thing that gives me a little bit of relief. Well may God bless us all and help us to find some relief. Perhaps this is His way of trying to draw us closer to Him.

"Thanks! It just makes me so mad when people automatically assume that those on pain meds are junkies, of course ANYONE who is prescribed medication is going to eventually become dependent upon it BUT that is not something they chose or wanted, for some there is no other option other than getting on disability, contribute nothing to society and have no quality of life, not a hard decision, take the meds and function sounds a whole lot better to me than wasting away in pain "

Also Pharms dont want insurance either! Cash only......So they can jack up the price! OH know..... dont go for the real problem people! Just Legal Drug Dealers is what the DEA has made! And more. Patients cant get there real scrips filled, thanks . Next will be people having seizures, loosing thier jobs after 5-20yrs. on pain meds! And older client, DEATH! their body cant take seizures etc.

Joeymotz, suboxone, really. A newer drug to get dependant on. Did you know its now a highly abused drug, once someone was dumb enlighten to snort it it took off. A friend of mine was on this in 2009. Insurance did not cover it and it was about $12 a pill. The pharmacy would let them pick up two or three at a time, kind of like an uncontrolled methadone clinic. Let's see non narcotic ultram, waste of money and your liver. I know people who had never taken a pill in their life and got body and were given that. Most went back to the ER, others took the max per day for a couple of days and went back. Even in IV form toradol is very ineffective of your pain level is over a 4. And physical therapy, insurance will only pay for it for so long. I went for two years at $40 a visit three times a week for my neck and it got worse as time went on. Why I'm not sure bit not everybody is the same. So if you don't have insurance you will not be able to afford therapy. Cortisone shots can have mast side effects where you won't be able to move for days, and on others like my ex girlfriend they worked on for about two weeks bit she had to go every month. Usually when someone really gets hurt and needs narcotic less their income will suffer, they sill lose their Jon from time off work, or something silly. I bet you haven't had to go through anything you mentioned as treatment. You only know of something happens to you.

Well along with everyone else I had the same issue so I started talking to my doctor to see if there is anything else that I could take that would help that is readily available. I was changed to Morphine and Oxtcontin for break-thru and long acting. They are not as good as the other but they at least do the job so you do not have to suffer

I hear u ,IN TEARS!!!!! its bulls***, its all inside jobs that have robbed an stolen everything is because of this and bad docs to begin with, guess them high up people in DEA and on and on didnt like not making anything off it! We the little guys , the real pain management are the ones paying the price literally out of our pocket because if u can find ur meds their price gouging or they dont feel comfy..... give me and all the rest of us TRUE AMERICANS a break..we are not stupid nor an addict! When there starts to be deaths from seizures and pharmacist deaths maybe it will get them moving faster to fix the REAL PROBLEMS!

done playing ,i hear ya if the powers that be stopped to think by with holding shipments and giving pharmacys the power to say they feel comfy filing for they are making the drug dealers richer cause now when you could get your meds the people selling on the street were making far less than they are now common sense supply and demand so in truth the government is making the problem worse .now addressing all the robberies if the patients could get meds the street dealers wouldn't be making money like they won the lottery .you cleaned up pill mills and bad docs that's the first step now give the patients there meds cause i guarantee that now you have legit patients turning to the street cause its still cheaper than pharmacys that charge 600 to Ive heard 1800 for a script that normally cost about 200 wow good job idiots also all these deaths arent from patients but from kids who mix it with other meds and shoot up take your resources and start teaching at a young age that perscription meds can be like playing russian roulette stop witholding meds and the dealers will not be making a profit and all the pharms price goudging your no better that the person on the corner

@ Joey Motz:
YOU work in a pharmacy?? Uh yeah, no you don't. If you did you would know that it never was just a "few people" who had scripts- they marketed the hell out of these drugs since they came out and prescriptions for them have gone way down, not up. They're being monitored now- before they weren't. Pretty pathetic to lie and say you work in a pharmacy when you don't have a clue about any of this. You sound like a fifteen year old kid.

While everybody is different, generally, if you've been taken the Vs for pain (and not recreationally), your WD symptoms shouldn't be too bad. The body uses the opiate differently: getting a buzz vs reducing pain. With the latter, your body will still produce endorphins to help manage intolerable pain vs getting a buzz, in which case the body wont produce as much, which leads to more severe WDs when you stop.

While 3 months is enough to create some dependency, the amount you are taking is minimal compared to others I've seen. In fact, I had a similar situtation with Dry-Socket and infection for about two months (taking much more than you) and while I had some diarrhea and cramps, it wasn't too bad. If it gets too uncomfortable, Klonipin or the like can help take the edge off. Most importantly, don't talk yourself into more serious symptoms that may actually exist.

The only way youre gonna find a Pharma to fill these is to have a relationship with them. You can't just cruise in looking for 30s, it won't happen. I originally started with 5s, every single Pharma will fill these for you, no questions asked. Then I graduated up to 10s, 15s, 20s, and now 30s over the course of 2 years. All major pharmacies carry 30s, they are almost NEVER OUT of stock, but not anyone can get them. Like I said you have to get a script for 5s and pick a pharmacy and stick with them, or at least the same chain. Because if by chance your normal branch store is out they will look in their computer system and have a neighboring branch fill them for you. After 2 months or so go up to 10s, 15s, 20s, then after a year hit the 30s. Its not rocket science here. If you want to start out with 30s you best walk in prepared. You better have documents with at least 6-12 months of prescription history on it, ID, and a list of other meds you take. The more meds you take the better off you will be bc they want your biz.
