Oxycodone Pain Pump Adjustment
UpdatedI just got a pain pump put in and it gets filled on June 10th. I would like to know why they wait two weeks to adjust it?
Also, during the process of getting it to the right level can I take my Oxycodone in place of it? Cause they won't give me the monitor to give myself extra until it's at the right level.

Re: Rawdog (# 1)
I've have an implanted pain pump for several years. You inquired to a previous post where the patient is able to adjust the pump. As far as mine, I go to my pain management doctor about every 6 weeks where they will extract any remaining meds in the pump & then refill it. If my pain is worse, I can tell them & the Dr will adjust the pump accordingly. My pump in located in my lower left side of the abdomen. After being on oral meds for a number of years, I wasn't getting any benefit from them anymore. I also had a spinal stimulator implanted but that caused problems down to my feet. The pump seems to work the best. I do have a script for a muscle relaxer for any breakthrough pain as well. Let me know if you need anything else.
I have been taking oxycodone and oxycontin for too many years to remember. On June 10th they are going to put Fentanyl in it and it's going to be put on a low dose to begin with, then adjusted every two weeks for 4 visits. I am hoping to know if anyone has had this done, and if so, what can I expect?
I didn't know that pharmaceutical companies even made oxycodone that is intravenously compatible for humans. I work in pain management and was wanting to know more about the strength and if there are generics. Respectfully.......Christian.
