How much is too much? Is it safe to consume alcohol while taking Oxycodone 80mg?

How much is too much of a naroctic depends on your individual body chemistry and your tolerance. The longer you use a narcotic substance, such as Oxycoodone, the more your body gets used to the dosage and the more you will eventually need to use to get the same effects from it.

If this has not been prescribed for you, then you should be aware that this is a very dangerous drug to use without a doctors supervision. It can have serious side effects and is highly addictive.

As to using it with alcohol, NO, that is very, very dangerous. You should never combine any narcotics with alcohol.

you should never, never, mix oxy. 80 mg, with alcohol. you might not wake up. its one or the other, not both

In fact, if you have never taken Oxy before, even just taking the 80mg dose can kill you. The recomendations are specific that this dose range is only for people that are already taking these classes of meds.

i personaly have drank alcohol and taken an 80mg Oxy, and i DONT recommed it! I woke up, luckily, with the worst headache ever! I felt sick to my stomache, i tried other meds to stop my aches and pains, and couldnt keep anything down.. It is a very dangerous conbination

You should definitely never mix oxy's with alcohol, it is so dangerous. You are playing russian roulette. Is it worth that much to you? Believe me I am not trying to judge you, I am an addict, just want to help.

they dont make oxy codone 80mg, there oxy contin..its a big difference because oxy contin is time released

You are tempting fate mixing RX and booze. I've lost too many friends to condone it. Maby you'll be OK, but that's what my friends thought and now many are dead. You never know when you've reached the deadly combo till its too late. My advise is give up the booze. Nothing goes better with oxy's than good old decaff coffee, iced or hot.

I was steadily on Oxy's for 1 straight year. Then out of the blue my doc decides to take me off of it. I took it between 3-4 times a day, and it was usually 10-15mg a dose. I cannot even imagine taking 80mg for a dose. 15 makes me alittle loopy. 80 seriously can kill you. Unless you absolutely HAVE to be on that med, dont take it. The withdrawls are absolutely killer. You will be miserable as hell for at least 2 weeks. I am in week 2 of my withdrawl. It sucks majorly. It worked wonders for my pain and my RLS. But because there are soo many people out there abusing it, my doc went the I can no longer prescribe to you route. I never abused it. But because soo many people did, he put me in that classification. I wasn't even allowed the chance to prove myself. I said take any test. ANY. and you will see I was in complete compliance.

80mg can definitely kill you. That is way too much to be taken at one time. The most I have ever taken was between 10, 15-20mgs. About 2-3 times a day. I can't imagine taking 80mgs and mixing it with alcohol like you said. That is a huge NO!! You can easily kill yourself. Please be safe.

I have been taking oxycodone 10/325 for a year or so for a heart condition. Only within the past couple months have i been taking it more often bc of the passions. I used to take a 10mg like twice a day, but recently started taking 3-4 always 5-6 hours apart. It hadn't bothered me up until tonight. I immediately became extremely drowsy after taking my last pill for today, which had never happened to me before. I wonder why is this?? And how many Mg of oxycodone us considered too much for a 24 hour period?? I'm a little concerned with the feeling I've got.

I assume you're asking because you're abusing the drug or taking it "for fun". If you had a legit rx and a legit condition, you would simply be taking the dose on the bottle that was prescribed to you, and a legit oxycodone prescription bottle will have a large sticker warning patients not to drink with it, stamped right on the side. It's people that take oxycodone recreationally that are barring legit pain patients from getting the rx filled!

I wasn't taking it "for fun". I was following the directions on the bottle. I have never abused it, and RLS and my pain are legit conditions. After talking with my other doctor I found out that the one prescribing the medication is currently being investigated for prescribing himself that medication. That explains a-bit. But I meant what I said. He could have easily given me a blood test to see the levels of oxycodone in my blood. That itself would have proven I wasn't abusing it. I'm not the only patient he did this to. I found out there are at least 15 others.

I have gotten my name cleared though and that is all I care about. I am doing just fine without it. I still have pain. But it is not worth the hassle. Massage does just fine. That actually takes away the problems I have. It is soo much better for your body if you go through the natural route instead of pharmaceutical. I will agree with you 110% that it is because of abusers that make it hard for people that need it to get it. If you aren't abusing it, then you should be willing to submit to any test that your doc wants at any time. Thats what I did. I took a test for his PA(physicians assistant) and they saw I was telling the truth. I feel much better taking the natural way to relieve pain.

I do not "abuse" oxycodone, I have Pericarditis and last I checked that was a LEGIT heart condition. I posted a simple question hoping for positive feed-back in return because I was concerned, instead all I got was ignorance! It says clearly on the LEGALLY PRESCRIBED bottle to take 1 pill every 4-6 hours AS NEEDED for pain. So how am I even close to abusing my medication!

I did not respond to your post at all. I was responding to the actual question asked by CHRIS. You know, the asker?? The person who asked how much oxycodone was too much and if he can drink on it? Did my answer sound like it was in any way referring to your question which did not mention alcohol or dose? Come in now. Actually read the post before you start accusing people of being "ignorant".

I would recommend starting out at a much lower dosage. I was on 5 mg tops for 3 weeks (after finding out 7.5 mg of Hydrocodeone wasn’t strong enough for serious pain) for 3 xs a day and that had gotten rid of a lot of pain.

The withdrawal was pretty bad when I weaned off it (taking one less pill a few days afterwards when not needing it anymore) and had 2 weeks of being hot all the time afterwards. I hope you have started at a much lower dose than 80 mg.

80 mg will most definitely increase the potential of dying in your sleep. Also there is no safe amount of alcohol use taking 8o mg oxy. In fact any other medication that will decrease heart rate or have a relaxing effect should never be used with any mg oxy. I'm a firm believer that certain medications taken with opioids will increase the risk of death from accidental overdose or something g else. People don't realize how powerful this medication is.

OK.. I have a suggestion peeps. While the webmasters of this site changed its name, we still have the problem of misunderstandings because any responses to these posts are not in order, I highly recommend if you are commenting back to someone who has already posted (a question or inquiry), you start it out with @Joe Schmo, or whoever. I always include the post # as well so there is no mix up, no hurt feelings or frustrations. God knows we in the chronic, intractable pain world need as little stress as possible. And by practicing this (as I have learned to do to avoid animosity) it is a LOT easier in the end to make sure your comment is directed at the proper person. Yes?

If you know of a doctor to prescribe 30mg oxycodone for my condition in NJ/NY area please email me {edited for privacy}

My old doctor freely writes prescriptions for 30mg oxycodone however he took me off of them recently because I tested negative on "1" drug test after 2 years. It ridiculous, I don't take them if I don't NEED them but now I have Percocet 10mg and it just doesn't do that job.. Again if you know of any doctor that will freely write 15 or 30mg oxycodone please email me

Please don't mix-it is how people mess thingsup for, people without a drug habit. Do what you want, do you really need a drink? And oh yeah both my parents died of opiate overdose 7 months apart. Just be carefull in your actions. A 40 is damn near enough if you wait the whole hour or 2 hours it takes. Took me 6-7 years for me to learn patience, then all negativity left,now take pills as they are prescribed. Life not perfect, but I enjoy my life, and don't hurt myself.

I am also a Pain Management patient. I agree with you when you posted that the people that do not have a legitimate reason for taking narcotics would surely thank God above that they do not experience the excrutiating pain that I do on a daily basis. Think about that the next time you want to "experiment" and catch a buzz on these pillls. I hope you never walk in my shoes.
They do make it harder for people in pain to get the medictions that they need.
