Oxycodone/percocet Generics! Which Are Most Effective? (Page 3)
UpdatedHello, First, let me start by saying that I am somewhat opiate naive. I am not in pain management and hopefully won't need to be. I've had scripts here and there for norco and percocet. It is the generic percocet, or more specifically the oxycodone, i'd like to discuss here. Over the past year i've had issues (such as a broken elbow, recurring kidney stones, and a staghorn lodged in my renal pelvis [kidney]), that have lead to several prescriptions for percocet from a total of 4 different manufacturers. Mallinckrodt 10/325, Amneal 7/325, Rhodes Pharmacy 10/325, and AuroBindo 10/325. I've read a lot of reviews about the aforementioned generic manufacturers. The majority of them have been negative especially for Rhodes. Mallinckrodt and AuroBindo are the only two that seem to have, at least, a couple of favourable reviews. I've got a new script for a week's supply of percocet 10/325. The primary pharmacy that I go to is Kroger (my local CVS carry Rhodes). Kroger carries the U17 Aurobindo which seem to help with pain but cause other issues; tinnitus, anxiety, drowsiness, agitation and at times nausea. Those are things I can deal with but I'd rather not. Does anyone have any input on what they find to be the best generic manufacturer of oxycodone? I've read about endocet, actavis, watson, kvk, and others but none of them seem to be readily available in my area. These are what i've tried in order from best to worst: 1. Mallinckrodt - good pain relief, seemingly no side effects, mild euphoria. (Unfortunately I cannot find Mallinckrodt anywhere around my area.) 2. (tie) Amneal/Aurobindo - Kind of a toss up between these two. They seem to work for the pain but have noticeable side effects. Auro (effects listed above) and Amneal both seem to cause anxiety/panic. Profuse sweating and itching have also been experienced with Amneal although not with Auro. 3. Rhodes Pharmaceuticals - I've read some horrible reviews for these. While I don't think they're as bad as some of the reviews, they were definitely very weak compared to the others i've tried. Sort of hit and miss though as one pill would make me feel high and another would make me feel sick (while not doing much for the pain). A plethora of side effects with these as well with malaise and dysphoria; the ultimate worst! Okay now that you've heard my subjective opinion and rant, can anyone out there offer their opinion on these generic oxycodone/percocet manufacturers. Are there any generic brands I'm missing or never heard of? What's the most effective for killing pain with the least side effects? (I'm taking them for pain). P.S. I'm going to have to fill at Kroger and get the Auro U17 regardless but would like to know for future reference. Thanks in advance! I'm in the Indianapolis, Indiana area.
Re: Kelly (# 40)
You look up the number on the pill. It will tell you who makes it, the strength, etc. Google the number. If it starts with IP it is made by Amneal. If its M367 it is made by Mallinckrodt. There are also others. Call the FDA and complain. There are many people here who have been affected negatively by this Amneal garbage. It needs to be investigated! 1-888 463-6332 to complain. They say they are all the same. They say all drugs are the same...THEY ARE NOT!
Re: bubblewrap (# 10)
I have been taking10/325 Camber for 2 months. The first month I took them they didn’t do much for the pain and my stomach was upset all the time. Thought maybe I was getting sick. Took them for the second month and now I have horrible stomach ache/some heartburn, headaches(I have never had problems with headaches) nausea, tired all the time. Stay Away From This Brand !!!!
Re: Marvin (# 12)

Re: Kimber (# 41)
Thank you!! I feel the same!! The Amneal is GARBAGE!!
Hello, hipe my advice will help you and that your Dr will fill a script for for lorcet, 10/650, I have major back problems from drag racing cars and motorcycles because I've been an auto mechanic for 40 yrs and now I also was hit and run over by a JB Hunt tractor trailer while riding a bicycle and crushed my lower right leg so bad I thought for about 3 yrs I would have to have it amputated cuz the pain was so unbearable but I did a lot of research on pain meds to help me cope with my every day life and owning my own auto repair business was taken its toll on me so my Dr told me to try the lorcet which is also available in generic or brand almost every where but I had it filled and I couldn't believe how much easier it was to work my daily job with no side effects of any kind except the one time I took one in the morning on an empty stomach but you can suggest that or the 5/325 to start and see how you feel with the lower dose 1st, hope that'll help your pain, believe me, I live with it every day...
Re: Larry (# 45)
Larry, glad to hear you are in virtually no pain because a 5mg tab is about 3mg of hydrocodone, maybe you can get with Herb and he can turn you on to some "herbs". You could also try taking an eye of a newt, an owls feather and a crows foot grind them up and sprinkle in on your head sounds like where your problem is. Oh and start with a low dose at first, the owls foot is habit forming.
Kimber (# 20) & bubblewrap (# 10) --
And referring to Camber Pharmaceuticals, that I just picked up from Times Pharmacy on the Windward side, Koolau, as this was my 1st time this Camber brand I believe had received from distributors, McKesson. Camber's origin, India so like anything else, these foreign countries make prices much more lucrative for profit margins. If you think Amneal is garbage, try Camber, it's definitely not worth taking.

Re: Herb (# 30)
I don't know herb, have you ever had the DAN SOMA'S AS COMPARED TO THE BRAND? Maybe it could the coating on the brand Soma's but the DAN's used to kick butt for a comparison and as everyone had told me. Maybe because without the coating, they would act much faster by allowing it to get to the bloodstream .
But, I wonder how you guys are still prescribed opiates at all. Around here in New Orleans, if you don't pay 200.00 for a pain clinic. No doctors that are insured will prescribe them unless you've had major surgery in the hospital. Then you don't get too many after. Insured clinics all think that shots are the solutions to everything. Needless to say with all the problems on my body, I would need shots in every part of my body.
PS. I wrote to my congressman about this and have not mailed it yet because I would like to use some of the people in this forum to copy and paste to add to the problems and it would have to be under them and D.c consent. Maybe you all are not ready for this yet.. But it is supposed to be here soon. Maybe there are doctors out there that do not care about the DEA nor the Orgs that are trying to ban them. Bless them.. They are real the doctors, not the police.
Re: etcch (# 50)
Your CONGRESSMAN along with congressmen from states like West Virginia, Florida and a few other states are the reason for the war on opioids. They came out with the fake numbers of prescription opioids deaths so they can sue the makers of opioids. I don't think you will get any help from your congressman they are against pain meds. Good luck.
Re: Larry (# 45)
This is a pain med site Larry not a dating site. Your portfolio is not required. No one here cares what you own or your racing debut or the name of the truck that ran over your ass. Its about how pain meds affect you, the good, bad and the ugly of it, and why they are taking peoples pain meds away. Drs always start you out on low doses and I guess a 5mg a day is better than nothing. If you leave out the fact you take a 5mg tab a day you can use the same introduction you used here on Christian Mingle.

Re: Sassy (# 53)
Check the spelling of your name and LARRY wow what a difference but they both have an A and a Y in them. I can see how you could be confused. Thanks for the advice.
Re: nomas (# 54)
You know all 10mg Percocets & generics have 10mg Of oxycodone & 325mgs of acetaminophen or Tylenol...I think when you get the cheaper generic it has different inert fillers & that may be why you are having bad side effects...What you need is pure oxycodone without the Tylenol, commonly referred to as oxycontin...it’s a pure opioid without all the Tylenol and other fillers...Ask your Dr about OxyContin...Good Luck.!.!.!
Re: Herb (# 55)
HERB?
Yep. I get the 10 mg, without tylenol. You can always add it if you want it. But, Herb, you must not be reading these posts!!! Your typical generic DOES NOT CONTAIN 10 mg. They are cutting the amount to make a cheaper pill. My Rhodes Pharma, oxycodone, tylenol free, tiny pill, very little fillers, very little opiate. I know they are weak! If it used to work well...then suddenly it does not, ITS WEAKER! I'm no einstein, but geesh! The manufacturers are allowed a variance of 20%. And you can bet it won't be in in favor of the CPP.
And before you give me the science of "tolerance"....I just want to say that each refill I get is after 10 days of being off my pain med. So, it should KICK a little with my first few of the month. But, guess what? It doesnt. It doesn't kick. I look for nothing, no high, except that pleasant sense of well being when the pain fades. You must be relatively new to the forum. Keep reading. You will learn much. I had NO idea that a pill that is designated 10mg, could be anything less than 10mg. Now I know.
Mason,
I too have been reading bad reviews for Rhodes, though, I've not experienced the migraines, other than what comes during withdrawl. When I first started getting oxycodone 10mg, they always let me know when they kicked in, but being very new to opioids, I didn't take note of the brand. Had no idea some were weaker than others. I got SO much done on those!! Stripped and refinished kitchen cupboards, all of my dining room furniture, cabinets, chairs, table. Now I am lucky to get laundry, and dishes done. Heck, my shower, at times, takes monumental effort, lol. Stuck as I am with them, Rhodes, I have to say I am grateful for the minimal relief. Still better than just taking tylenol. I can not use nsaids, because of other med I'm on. I used to get a little relief, at least for daily headaches, from ibuprophen. Now, it's oxy, or nothing. Oxy doesn't interfere with meds I take due to stroke, blood clots, aneurysm.
Re: Herb (# 55)
The government is after the oxycodone. They will take it off the market, just a matter of time. All the pain meds have been made inefficient as far as pain goes. All pain meds have been changed and they are a little better than nothing. You have to remember the government has declared war on opioids and they are behind the change in pain meds. They don't have to label what they have done to pain pills and everyone thinks another brand is going to be different they all suck. Some are better than others as far as side effects go but are inefficient as far as pain control goes. There is no such thing as a PURE oxycodone pill. They all have fillers and the pills like that have anti-deterrence added. Not trying to be a know-it-all a**hole, there is no such thing as a good pain reliever anymore. As I said a little better than nothing. A few worthless drs. like A Kolodny, the leading anti-opioid activist along with a few worthless Congressman and Senators have convinced the President all pain pills are in the same category as heroin. Kolodny calls them a medical heroin pill and they are EVIL and any use of them and subsequent physical dependence on them is a substance abuse disorder. The government know the current cause of overdose deaths are mostly from illicit fentanyl not prescription opioids. Drug dealers are putting illicit fentanyl in over cut heroin causing overdose deaths. It's easier for the DEA to find and raid Drs offices than finding the drug dealers so they can say they are making progress on the opioid crisis. The government is hurting people with chronic pain. They are also hurting us vets that they promised to give the best care available to. I guess they know Vets are tough and they can take pain for the WHITE HOUSE cause to do away with opioids. They don't know the difference between dependent on and addicted to. All I know is I'm old and I hurt and what difference does it make if I die addicted to pain meds if I can live without pain till I do.
Re: JMJ (# 56)
I would think that if you’re getting generic Oxycodone the Drug & Poison Center would require all generics to have exactly the same amount of Opioid...I think it would be unlawful to say a pill has 10mgs of whatever if it doesn’t...I know a lot of “Drugy’s & a lot of ‘em say that Benzo’s, Valium, Xanax, Klonopin, etc, etc. also are different depending on what Co. made the generic...People “Swear” that Roach, who had the original patent on Diazepam & named it Valium, say that the ones with the V cut in the middle are the best, & they’re talkin’ about Valium, Roach brand Diazepam...I’m no expert, just know what I know growin’ up in the ‘70’s...I’m 68 & take a Valium now & then, but they all affect me the same way...I think 50% of the affect is in people’s minds...That’s why Drs still prescribe placebos & the patient still gets the affects of whatever drug they think they’re taking not knowing it’s a sugar pill...I think we should all do a bit more research...Keep in touch...
Herb (# 58) --
Thank you Herb! Rereading my post, I thought I may come off as rude and thought you would not reply.
About "variance" in amount (mg)......You would THINK by law, if it states 10, it must be 10. That would be only logical. But.l..One poster found, I believe on Rhode's own ingredient list that the variance option for their 10 mg, is used by them. They state in writing that their 10 mg, has actually 8.5mg. Not 10. I will hunt around for that particular post. If anyone else sees it, please cut and paste. I did not just pull 'variance 20%" out of thin air. This is real, real wrong, and REALLY happening In the generics market. And most likely utilized in pain meds, or possibly anxiety meds primarily. I had a tough time swallowing that, thinking oh great, another conspiracy being tossed around. It just CANT BE HAPPENING! Wrong.
Now, I have to do some digging. I hate not having a good cite at my fingertips. Sorry.
