Oxycodone Acetaminophen 5 325 And Still In Pain
UpdatedI had a total knee replacement done last Monday. When released on Thursday, I was prescribed with Oxycodone Acetaminophen 5 325 as a pain killer in time of need. I needed a little yesterday--I really haven't had that much pain before, even in the hospital, but I guess I pushed myself a little too much, so I took one of my capsules. I awoke in the night because the pain I was feeling was 10 times worse than anything I'd been through since surgery. I took another and the pain increased. What would cause this? I have used only three of the fifty prescribed, so I don't think I could be already addicted. I'm a 59 yar old female, with a moderate HBP and diabetes, both more or less controlled. My health is otherwise good.

Addiction wouldn't cause worsening of the pain, that would be a tolerance or withdrawal effect and no, just 3 of the tablets would be highly unlikely to cause this effect.
It is, however, normal for you to hit a point after such surgeries, where the pain will hit a peak. It is just the way your body works and it can be very miserable.
If your current dosage isn't helping, then please contact your doctor.
The Oxycodone in this is a narcotic and it may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, dry mouth and constipation.

Have you consulted your doctor?
No, I haven't, I have an appointment next Tuesday. I spoke with the nurse today, but she didn't say much.
Do not worry about the kneepain I have both of my done and yes I went through a lot pain after I was home because of all the exercises. But it did pass, My trouble with that pill is I got hives from. My doctor told that codiene is in it and i can not take it. Just keep working your knee it will get better.
I’ve been taking this medicine for 5 days and have noticed that my gums are bleeding when brushing my teeth. Does oxycodone/acetaminophen 5-325 cause bleeding gums?
Re: MB (# 4)
I don't think that bleeding gums is a known side effect to oxycodone/apap. Are you taking an NSAID (ibuprofen, aspirin, aleve)? Tylenol (apap) doesn't have the bleeding risks that NSAID's do.
