Can anyone please tell me which dr or clinic in the fort lewis/ olympia area that prescribes oxy. I have MRI and many other medical records showing severe degeneration with three hernias. Ive also had surgery in the past on my spine. Just want to continue the care that i had in texas. I also get steriod IV's every four months. Please help! ## Due to the new regulations that were put in place this year, if you require medications like this for chronic pain on a long-term ongoing basis, then you'll need to see a pain management specialist. General practitioners and surgeons have been severely restricted in what they can prescribe, how long they can prescribe it, why they can prescribe it and how much they can prescribe. It's also going to cause a problem if you're calling ...

I lived in Alabama and was recieveing oxy -40 3 times a day , built home in ky , now and cannot get them , I have chronic pain and my quality of life has taken a big hit, can no longer do a lot , but the doctor will not give them , because of all the pill poppers , I am 60 . this is wrong !!!!!!! they worked great , a good slow release medicine ## Hello, Jim! How are you doing? Sorry that you're so miserable. The first issue is that unless you have a severely debilitating condition, such as cancer, which can cause intractable pain, then no doctor would be able to prescribe you 3 of them per day, now. The new regulations have placed a kibosh on such practices and limited the prescribing practices for treating pain to only the maximum recommended daily dose. So, if you were taking the...

I was taking 4 80 mg oxys daily my doc put me on 2 100 mg teva morphines will it help the same and will i go through withdraw thank you ## There may be some issues here, because the Oxycodone is actually 1 and a half time stronger than the Morphine, so you'd need 120mgs of Morphine to equal each 80mg dose you were taking of the Oxycodone. Learn more Oxycodone details here. Learn more Morphine details here. Why did he change your medication? ## Pain Meds 101: For chronic pain management...the best result is almost always a long acting med (OxyCONTIN (currently no generic so $$$), Morphine Sulfate E/R extended release, Opana (not my particular fave), Fentanyl Patches and Exalgo). Only the latter are taken 1x per day..the others are SUPPOSED to be 12 hr meds to be taken 2x a day but mo...

Been having a very difficult time finding a pharmacy that has 20mg Oxycontin's in stock. Everywhere we've gone, does not have them. One the Medicine Shop doesn't carry them at all. These are always a problem and its crazy, people who are in legitimate pain are getting put through hell! Please if anyone knows where to go, let me know. ## Hello, Sooner! How are you? I'm very sorry that you're having such a problem getting your prescription filled. The issue on the east coast is actually due to the shutdown of a very large pharmaceutical distributor that was working with most of the large chain stores. The DEA found that they were moving a suspiciously large amount of controlled substances each month, which exceeded that done by other, similarly sized distributors. Unfo...

we have been seeing the original oc 80's around here and was wondering if they are coming back already or if they oc's are replaced with the op's???? ## No, they aren't coming back, however there are many still on the street, due to all the theft and diversion that occurred, plus any pharmacies and hospitals can still provide or sell them, until they run out of stock. Ethex is also a licensed distributor for Purdue and from what I have read in various posts, they have still had a stock of the original Oxycontin product. On the current supply runs out, everyone will be forced to switch to the new product. Are there any other questions or comments? ## where do you live? ## this guy has no clue what he is talkin about. the real ones are coming back.. my father was gettin th...

I am wondering if there is a manufacturer of oxycontin other then purdue? I am taking oxycontin 80 mlgm, and purdue has changed the medication, and it does not work for me with what they have done to it. ## Actavis is a manufacturer of generic Oxycontin, my insurance will only pay for generic. They have not reformulated. ## I am not sure what is going on with the generic Oxycontin, Sometimes they are available and others not. If you are in reference to the inability to misuse the new OP/80 there are always a way and Purdue Pharma knows this and so does the FDA. My suggestion is take them in the proper manner. ## a few years back a company did make generic oxycontin and they were just as good as perdue's. they were pink instead of green. anyway perdue sued them for making them just a...

Need info what pharmacy sells oc? ## Unless you post your general location, it is going to be difficult for anyone to let you know if any pharmacies in your area still have a supply of them. The chances of anyone still having them in stock, however, is pretty low. The original formula of Oxycontin with the OC marking has been discontinued by Purdue and have been replaced with the new product that has the OP marking. While pharmacies were still allowed to dispense whatever supply they had on hand, once they run out, they have no choice but to switch to the new formulation. Are there any other questions or comments? ## yes, need to know what pharmacy has them??? ## I am in N. VA and some pharmacists say they don't have it and then when I ask again, they do have the OC - why do they li...

I am not a big fan of the formula change but find the op oxycontin to still work on my chronic pain. The main thing I notice is Ill get only 8 hours of relief where the older formula had lasted longer and stronger. This new formula also takes 45 minutes to get going even on empty stomach. but it does work on the pain once it kicks in. im waiting now as i just took my oxycontin about 14 minutes ago and beginning to lose my vision(thats the first sign for me is i get tunnel vision and itching) but just saying, i was on oc formula 12 years and been on this formula 2 months so i dont like it alot but as im getting used to the pills and how they work best, etc, ive learned to still prefer oxycodone over dilaudid for my pain...period. dilaudid is weird, it takes a while to come on and makes me...

I was prescribed both Oxycontin & Oxynorm in 2006 for chronic back pain in 2006, as you would know our system builds up a tolerance to opiods. I ended up on 80 mg of Oxycontin, twice per day & 20 mg of Oxynorm 3 times per day and other meds also. I was still in pain, I believe the weather also effects pain. I slept most of the day & night and had no quality of life and terrible memory loss. It is now 2013 & In the last 2 years I have invested in a infa red sauna, a spa set at hydro temp 40 degrees & a TENS MACHINE. As you would all know as time goes by our body becomes immune to the dosages & pain specialist just keeps increasing the dose. I have gone through un describable pain to reduce my medications myself slowly with the help of the tools mentioned. I would ...

I am using these for pain management, not recreation, so I don't need anything I have to crush up or inject. I am currently on 3 (three) oxycontin pills a day (80mg), This drug has become amazingly expensive, and I am getting to the point to where I cant afford it much longer. It went off patent for a while a year or so ago, but apparently, they reformulated it, and i'm stuck with the name brand drug and the name brand prices. It's killing me. So, I'm looking for something that is a generic drug that I could get that would do the equivalent of the 80 mg oxycontin extended delivery meds that I'm currently on. This is strictly a financial decision, so the drug name you suggest must be a generic form of something that is currently on the market and available. Please do ...

my friend was prescribed medication Roxie cotton start acting weird ever since I would just like to know more about this medication and what is it given for and yes he smokes and drinks and seem to be little addictive ## Hello, Arkeem! Sorry about what has happened to your friend. I'm not sure which medication he is taking, since you seem to be confusing 2 different brand names, Oxycontin and Roxicodone, but they both contain the narcotic Oxycodone, it's just that the Oxycontin is a time released formulation of it. Learn more Oxycodone details here. Yes, it can be very habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness and drowsiness. How long has he been on it?

Hello all. I'll try to make this as short as possible. I have chronic lower back and hip pain. I have had it all my life, but last year I had major surgery on my spine and my hips. This surgery increased the pain. Before the surgery, my pain was constant and at a 5-6. Now my pain is at 7-8, CONSTANTLY. Therefor, I am on Oxy. I started out on hydrocodone, used that for roughly 2 years and 9 months ago was switched to oxy. I am given enough for 5 pills a day, (5mg). Yes, I am addicted. Yes, I have abused oxy and hydro. With all of this information, my question is: How can I function as normally as possible on this drug? I have some serious chronic pain that oxy actually helps, but I find it hard to function. By that I mean, I am always exhausted. I only want to lay around all day, eve...

what do they look like and do they work ## They are round, gray tablets with OP on one side and a 15 on the other, Oxycontin is only available as the name brand. As to whether or not it works, the only way to know is to try it and see, since it can vary from person to person. Just like any other medication, some people get greats results from it and some don't. Learn more Oxycontin details here. It does have the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Is there anything else I can help with?

1st time taking oxycontin what can i expect? ## Hi thrillseeker, From what I've read, 40mg is considered to be somewhat of a high dose for a first time user. However, your reaction to it really depends a lot on your tolerance to narcotics. Someone who has taken them on a frequent basis and in higher doses will likely need to have more in order to notice any sort of effect on their pain levels. Also, you may want to be fully aware of the potential side effects that are commonly associated with narcotics (i.e. dizziness, drowsiness, nausea, dry mouth, etc). A more complete list of side effects can be found here: nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/druginfo/meds/a682132.html#side-effects Have you taken any other types of pain medications prior to getting oxycontin?
