I went to texas n ran out of lopressor I had a aortic dissection now I'm scared bp is high 48hrs without should go to hospital
I missed 3 days of my BP meds (metaprolol) over holidays & started having bad anxiety. I am already prone to anxiety/depression. My doctor put me on paroxitene and metaprolol for it. Been in them almost a year with no problems. Then this. My doctor said I kickstarted withdrawal side effects due to missing doses. I have been back in my BP meds for about 8 days and still having anxiety. Doc said it would start to level out. Any clue how long it takes for side effects to 'level out' and end since I'm back on BP meds?
150/90 is BORDERLINE HYPERTENSION. WE now usually medicate as pstg. older.
And you earned your MD or DO exactly where?

There are Patient Assistant Programs. They send the info and there enrollment cards to doc or sometimes to patients if you go through THE DRUG OR DRG COMPANY'S NAME WEBSITE. Metropolis and Fosinopril are completely differently acting drugs. Let me look for links...Try scbn.org for Toprol XL (metoprolol) and then take a look at Monopril (fosinopril)....

Mlompril generic is also on the $4/30d list at Walmart. Finally, that FIRST website includes patient assistance for Metoprolol XL or IR. You will need a doctor's script and a check-up, but these programs tend to provide that as well.
thank you, I am a 59 year old electrition, i had broke my feet, right shoulder, right arm, out of work and out of money, and expired insurance, just bad luck, thank you for the time
How did you end up running out?
That's dangerous and you need to be careful not to do so in the future. If you go without doses, it could cause a rebound effect which may result in dangerously elevated heart rate and blood pressure.
Learn more Metoprolol details here.
As to taking something else, it really needs to be an equivalent dosage/medication and you didn't list the dosing details on either.

Learn more Hydrochlorothiazide details here.
Why don't you just get a refill?
Although these two medications are both used for high blood pressure, there's really no telling whether or not you'll experience the same benefits from Lisinopril or even react favorably to it, since everyone responds differently these drugs. Not to say it wont work, but it's always good to have backup options.
There are many natural alternatives for Blood Pressure control that in my opinion can be just as effective as prescription medication if taken seriously.
I personally had severe hypertension around 150/90, but was able to control it by controlling my eating habits and exercising. What works for me may not work for everyone, but my initial advice is to focus on eating whole foods that have little to no sodium and which are high in potassium and magnesium. These foods primarily include fresh fruits and vegetables (bananas, dates, and coconut water in particular are great for this, among many others)!
I hope this advice helps!
