Opdivo (nivolumab) Reviews (Top voted first)
UpdatedI had stage 3b subungual melanoma and after they did an amputation of my thumb and lymph nodes dissection, they lowered it to 2b, but when the results came back they said I'm cancer free yet still want me to take opdivo (nivolumab). Does anyone have any experience with this?

I’ve been on opdivo for 6 months as an adjuvant therapy. I had excursions of some melanoma stage 3 or 4 because of the labs and spread. I’ve had minor side effects of aching shoulder joints and some fatigue. All my labs continue to be good. I’ll be taking it for another six months and as long as there isn’t a recurrence I’ll be done.
That is normal, just in case some cancer cells were missed by the testing, most people are told to continue takint the relevant medication for a certain period of time.
The FDA lists its most common side effects as possibly including nausea, fatigue, muscle/joint pain, and decreased appetite. There is also a warning regarding the possibility of severe inflammation of some organs of the body, they are immune mediated.
Has anyone else been on this medication?
Congrats on beating cancer!
Re: Dave (# 2)
Hi Dave what do you mean by excursions? Are you battling stage 3 or 4 currently to fight speeding or like in my case just as a preventative? I am trying to decide if I should take the opdivo the side effects of it seem to be contraindicated because of heart and kidney problems xx thanks for answering it is s rough decision for me.

I meant excisions. Darn auto-correct. 3 years ago I had a surgery. They thought they got everything so no follow up treatment. Then in January I had 2 more spots that had spread. So I had surgery for those two. As far as they could tell from scans they had all the cancer. But because of the depth, size, type and spread they determined to do the adjuvent Opdivo therapy. I'm getting a year of treatments and quarterly scans. So far I'm looking clean. My side effects have been minimal. The doc says that a lot of people have thyroid issues but none so far for me. I have been following the Opdivo board on the lung cancer site. They have a lot more comments and a lot of side effects. It looks like it can be serious. But not as serious as malignant melanoma. I say do it. Melanoma survival odds are not good but greatly increased with Opdivo, at least that's what I'm seeing on studies.
