On Suboxone Getting Skinny

on suboxone one year iam losing to much weight i look like a junkie and depressed.

I have the opposite problem. I have put on too much weight. Initially, I needed to gain about 20 lbs but I gained 40 and lost the first 20, now cannot get rid of the remaining 20 for anything. Any advice on that? The only thing I can tell you about gaining weight, eat ice cream before you go to bed. It helped me go from drugged out looking to normal in no time.

Steve, have you consulted your doctor?

As evidenced from Laurel's post, if you are using it as prescribed and not abusing it, it usually has quite the opposite effect and most people gain weight.

Your losing is unusual and you should consult your doctor to get to the root of the problem.

i m down to 8 mgs aday now i think my appetite is coming back'. i have chills all the time is this normal.oh by the way i did numerous test at the va center.they all come back negative.my dr. says it has got to be the suboxone.200lbs to 145 in 6months what else could it be?

Steve, if you recently lowered the dosage, then the chills could be caused by some minor withdrawal symptoms.

And if the tests didn't find anything else, then your doctor is probably right. Medications, of any type, can have a weird effect on some people.

I'm actually a prime example of that, myself. I am on several blood pressure medications that are all known to increase appetite and cause weight gain, but they've never done that to me. I'm at a whole 116 and can't gain, regardless of what I try.

Since your appetite is coming back, you might want to try increasing your calorie intake, as much as possible. That doesn't mean you necessarily have to eat a lot, but pick calorie dense foods, when you do.

I am skinny also. I eat once a day sometimes, not at all. I hate f***in suboxone. You can't go #2 and your appitite is suppressed. I am down to 2mg per day. How am I going to stop if i'm working? I've read that it's 20 days of diarihhea(?) and leg cramps, etc. I don't know how I can go to work in that condition. I cannot stop working now. I NEED the money very badly. Maby I will try to wean off by just snipping a piece of film when I get too sick. I am also taking 1 mg of Xanax per day. If I stop Xanax, I go into seizures. I live alone with 3 dogs. I'm old, depressed, filing bankrupysy, trying to keep from killing myself. I was in a rehab last and got off oxycodone and Xanax. Xanax was the worst and here I am taking it again. But, maby 1mg per won't be too difficult if I wean off SLOWLY. I want to be free of any addicting drug. I wish there was someone here with me who knows how I feel.

Kippy, hang in there. I am in the same situation. stopped taking suboxone and they put me on nuerontin which helped with the leg ramping.
