Hi Doctor I am 68 years old woman. For the past 15 years I am suffering from irritation in tongue, throat and stomach while taking hot substance like chillies, peppers etc. I have almost completely AVOIDED chillies, peppers etc for the past 5 years. Anyhow when pazol and gelusil were taken, felt relief temporarily. Last 1 year every 2 months I get diahorea thrice and cured after taking antibiotic and loose motion medicine and LOST 6 kgs during that last loose motion. In sept 2011 endoscopy, colonoscopy and related blood tests and liver tests were taken and no abnormality (except 2mm mild chronic duodenitis). What is the difference between 'Delayed Release' and 'Extended Release'? ## There is no difference, they are just both ways of saying the same thing. They just mean that it's a time release formulation of the medication, rather than a regular release. Is there anything else I can help with? Editor's note: this message has been deemed inaccurate. ## Thank you Verwon, I appreciate your help. ## Actually, there IS a difference and they are NOT interchangeable. The example below talks about Depakote instead of Omeprazole, but the definitions and logic are the same. "The United States Pharmacopeia (USP) defines delayed-release tablets as enteric-coated to delay release of the medication until the tablet has passed through the stomach to prevent the drug from being...

was the color of this capsule change from aqua mylan6150 to ku 118 white/brown ## Mylan 6150 is manufactured by Mylan Pharmaceuticals Inc. Ku 118 is manufactured by Kremers Urban, and appears to be repackaged or distributed by a variety of other pharmaceutical companies. Even though the way a pill looks is entirely up to the whit and whim of the company making it, I don't think the company changed the color; it was simply manufactured by another company (as shown above), and that is why it is another color. Does that make sense? Please post back if you have any other general questions or concerns about this drug. ## Supposedly, omeprazole is now otc. KU 118 mfrd by Kremers Urban is much more effective for me than other omeprazole formulas. Friend obtains it through the VA. Under wha...

The difference between omepprazole dr and pNepcid ac ## They are both different medications in different drug classes. Omeprazole is a proton pump inhibitor, it helps reduce the amount of acid produced by the stomach by shutting down some of the proton pumps that produce the acid. Learn more Omeprazole details here. The DR just means it is delayed release, so it keeps working for awhile after you take it. Pepcid AC is a time released formulation of Famotidine, which is a histamine, H2-receptor agonist, so it works differently than the Omeprazole. This one works more like a traditional antacid, in that your stomach still produces the same amount of acid, this just kind of neutralizes some of if afterwards. Learn more Famotidine details here. Not all medications work for everyone that tri...
