I have a severe tooth ache that came on Friday night during our campout. Just got home Sunday morning and it is getting so bad I can't sleep. I found a bottle of propoxy n apap 100 650 tab medicine that was prescribed in 09. It says to discard after 7/28/09. I am desperate for some relief. Is it unsafe? My dentist won't be in until tomorrow.

Hello, Nola! How are you feeling? I am very sorry about the toothache.
No, this medication is not safe to take. All drugs containing Propoxyphene and its relatives were removed from the market several years ago, because it was found to be cardiotoxic and many people suffered adverse events, some of which were fatal. This is one that you really need to just toss out.
If the pain is severe, you can go to your nearest ER and they should be able to help you, until you can see your dentist.
