Updated

Ive been on opans 40 mg for about 5 yrs.i hate the new formulated opanas so when i found out about the release of the generic from impaxs and how well theyve worked for others that have been on opana too ive wanted to get them.well i got my script yesterday and cant find them anywhere.most places keep saying they dont make a generic which i know is bulls*** cuz i called impax to find out where i can find them and they didnt kno but gave me the names of the 3 distributers they deal with and got no where with that.my question is does anyone kno of a place around akron/canton ohio area that i can get them filled.any help with this is greatly appreciated.thanks for the help and good luck to everyone else that is dealing with chronic pain and going through hell just to get some releif which is beginning to seem impossible anymore

I think you mean ask for Oxymorphone "ER". I think Impax/Global makes an IR version, but they only make them in smaller doses. In my experience most of the pharmacies I went to looking for them, had never heard of them. They all (including 2 or 3 different CVS Stores) said they couldn't order them. I mean sure, they probably can, it's just that they don't want to and would rather send you elsewhere.

I had better luck asking my doctor to recommend a small independent pharmacy that he knew stocked them.

Julie did you ever find a solution to this insurance issue? I have been taking the brand name medication for a few months now, and it works pretty much the same I guess.

I have seen no problems obtaining the generics.. Just the skyrocketing prices

See that's what my pharmacist told me. The generic drug costs more than the brand name does. That's why my insrurance will pay for the brand name only. How is that even possible?

Hi, I don't know of anyone who would give out that kind of information to a complete stranger on the Internet. If you're a legitimate chronic pain sufferer, call a local pain clinic. Better still, would be to have your Primary Care Doc recommend someone & refer you to them.

Oxymorphone? What's going on with insurance companies. Will not pay at all for generic, and pharmacies will not take rx savings cards, or 70 percent off, it raises instead of lowering the price. I have Humana and it sucks, locked in for 6 more mths.? Any advice?

Dave ,Thank you for sharing this imformation. I will start looking now, Humana changed from the initial conversation and kept changing til I paid 698.00 today for my medication. If you know a Health Provider that covers the Oxymorphone Er generic. I would greatly appreciate the help. Sincerely Thank you

Use this plan finder tool, it's what I use. It's different for everyone as the plans vary from state-to-state. Hope this helps and God bless.

Dave, wow.. I am feeling pretty small right now. I just found out that there is a prescription coverage that covers all but 199.00. Which is a big difference. I never thought of looking it up before because I thought I was in a lock in. So if I found that in 10 min. I know I can get a way better deal all around to cover everything. Humana is out and in with someone knew. Just got to shop around. Thanks again

I'm in Miami, Florida and can't get my script filled for Opana 40. The pharmacy no longer has it after 3 years. I haven't been able to find another pharmacy that has it.

Posted below is the manufacturer's website for the original formula of opana called oxymorphone; the 40s are called globes and the imprint says g74. The website has the ndc number that u can give to your pharmacy to get them. They've been out for 3 years. idk how you have a hard time finding them all over Pittsburgh. We get the globe 40s.

I'm being taken off of methadone and put on opana my pharmacy said they have generic opanas, what will give the most pain relief brand name or generic?

You will need to have your pharmacist order them most likely. Your dr. will need to write the script for oxymorphone er in whatever strength you need. As of Nov. 11 Impax is the only pharma that is distributing now. Hope this helps. Donna

I have been receiving 30 milligram oxymorphone ER they've done really well I've been able to put quite a bit of them to the side to use as needed with my injury because you never know when insurance for pharmaceutical companies will change so I've saved quite a bit of mine up may seem difficult to get Walgreens and CVS are the best pharmacies but a lot of them will tell you they don't carry those until you bring a hard script in then they have the option some places will be able to order them for you
