Nortriptyline Anxiety And Panic
(Newest replies first)
Updated
I've tried almost all of the Zolofts, Paxils, Prozacs and I can not tolerate the serotonin. Now I'm trying Nortriptyline and I'm wondering if anyone has had a good result without suffering side effects that make you so sick you cant take it?

Thank you for your reply. After this disaster what med do you think youll be able to manage? Im sorry this is going on.
Nortriptyline made a physical and mental wreck out of me, of course my age wouldn’t help, the Private Hospital and the Psychiatrist took no notice when I felt loosing balance, walking became difficult within a 4to 6 weeks. I received an email can’t do anything about, I could walk 2km no trouble, it was a medication change from Xanax been using it for years. Never any trouble working on building sites, two stories high, but Xanax bad reputation and restrictions I decided to change, piece of cake the change turned to hell after Nortripteline.
I also cannot tolerate any kind of SSRI, or SNRI, but I remember taking nortriptyline years ago for migraines I think and I don’t remember having any kind of issues with it, I don’t think I hated it. I think I stopped taking it because it didn’t really help with the headaches, but I don’t remember having any adverse reaction to it like I do with the other meds
Have you ever been checked out for ADHD though? I only ask because I had terrible anxiety issues and I tried every SSRI there was because that’s what they wanted to give me for it I guess & they were all awful (Buspar wasn’t awful but it didn’t do anything) but once I got medicated for ADHD, my anxiety almost completely went away. And if I was depressed at all Adderall certainly fixed that. But I think it was more that treating my ADHD allowed me to just calm down because I didn’t have to remember everything all the time and I wasn’t chronically overwhelmed.
It’s just a thought because you’re having trouble with serotonin medications, sometimes it’s the dopamine that we are lacking, not serotonin
Hello Vicki! How are you? Have you started taking it, yet?
Nortriptyline is a tricyclic antidepressant, so it works differently than the others.
The FDA lists the typical side effects of Nortriptyline as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth, and mood changes.
