North Carolina Doctor Who Prescribes Benzodiazepenes

48 year old Raleigh resident looking for a doctor to prescribe me my diazepam. I am being cut off from the clinic I go to. After my doctor retired (in Virginia) went to Monarch because I do not have health insurance. I now go to Cornerstone. I have been taking Diazepam for about 25 years as well as Zoloft. I am aware of the side effects and long term usage of "Benzos". I have a long history of mental health issues and this combination is the best for me. I exercise, meditate, watch my caffeine intake and use to tools taught to me to handle my emotional problems to the best of my ability. I feel angered that because of whatever the issues are that prescribers are not prescribing these types of medications should not be my concern. I have read thoroughly on the CDC'S website. And have concluded by what they say, there are patients in need of these drugs.

You might do better just seeing a new doctor and not asking for a specific medication. Diazepam is known to be habit forming, so if you ask for it, many doctors will view that as being drug seeking behavior. It is really best, in such cases, to let your medical records speak for themselves.

The FDA also warns that it may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, and irritability.

Can anyone recommend a doctor in that area?

Thank you so much for responding. I know it's habit forming and new studies show the Benzos can cause Alhemizers, the diease my mother died from back in July. But, I feel in my case the benifits out weigh the risks. I do wish there was a majical pill, fighting depression and anxiety is a full time job.

If you have been on it chronically as in daily , you could be in trouble from withdrawal
You may need a referral to mental health and ask for an addiction specialist to wean you off if you cannot find anyone to prescribe it to you

Can you take the records from the pharmacy showing that you have taken this medication for years? They can’t just cold turkey take you off... go to another doctor with your pharmacy records. Even though they can look them up online.. maybe they give you clonzapam but its better than nothing. Try a psychiatrist they are more equipped to prescribe anxiety medications. Just my experience, good luck!!

Probably going to need to see a psychiatrist to get adhd and anxiety medications. That’s the only time I was prescribed adhd and anxiety medications you need. Regular doctors see this as a psychiatrist issue. They don’t want to touch it especially both. My psychiatrist had no problems giving me both as I needed them. I wouldn’t say I need adderall and Xanax though. Tell him what doesn’t work and what works....
