New White Watson 853 10/325 Problem - What Is Going On!? (Page 2)
UpdatedHello all,
I am a longtime chronic pain sufferer. I have taken opiates for pain for over 10 years. I recently got a prescription filled (from a well known pharmacy chain in the U.S.) and I was given these new Watson 853 white (not yellow) hydro 10/325 pills. I wanted to ask the forum here if any of you have had the same experience with them as I have. I know there are some very smart people with advanced chemistry knowledge here that may have delved deeper into whats going on with these things. They are ineffective for me. I've taken hydrocodone 10/325 for 10+ years and have never ever had a problem with pills being ineffective but that is the case with these pills. I've had about every brand you can think of and never an issue. Ever. I thought nothing of the color change when I got the pills home from the pharmacy... I've had the yellow Watson 853's before and figured they just changed the coloring. I've seen people complain before about differences in brands before, but I've never experienced anything like that.... Mallies, Watson, Qualitst... all the same to me. I didn't start looking around for answers until I noticed these pills were not working well at all. Something is 100% wrong.
Based on some initial research I do see that they have taken the yellow dye out but there are other reports from people with the same issues as I see. Obviously you just don't know how reputable some of these reports are... I've seen posts talk about pharmacists telling the patient that the pills now are structured to release hydrocodone slower (even though its an IR pill... what?)... that Actavis/Watson employees have claimed there could be "kinetic imbalances" in their formulation when upset customers have called them... etc.
The only truth I know is that there is something amiss with these things. Any response would be appreciated from you guys.... experiences/info/links to other similar reports, etc. This is the most frustrating thing I have ever run into and it just doesn't make much sense to me at the moment with whats going on....and the implications this could have if these pills have been truly altered by the manufacturer in some way.
I know it doesn't mean much to just say it on an internet forum, but I'm not the type to cry wolf over something like this. I realize it could be a bad batch I've received, but it looks initially like the problem is more widespread.
TIA for any responses to this thread! I came here because I believe this site has people that have the intelligence/knowledge to get to the bottom of it. Again, any info at all in relation to this would be appreciated greatly.
I'm another person on this growing list of BS narcotic analgesics. I've taken different hydrocodene and oxycodone generics that are basically worthless and no one seems to care or be willing to investigate this. This has been going on for many years.
You just get treated like a drug addict if you complain about the pills potency, but others that I personally know along with myself who need these to survive our lives of chronic pain know different!
Until someone important or influential gets shafted by inferior quality narcotic analgesics nothing will happen.
Basically once you become a chronic pain sufferer on narcotic analgesics you just became a third class citizen in America under the thumb of big pharma and the government
Centrifuging determines the strength of a 10/325. To take 10 milligrams of codeine and 325 milligrams of acetaminophen and mix them together only produces acetaminophen and codeine. Centrifuging coaleses and bonds the ingredients together to make a much more robust and potent medication. So, the difference is coalescing rather than mixing. My experience is the Qualitest exhibit qualities consistent with centrifuging
Seriously seriously b careful with Walgreens oxy 10 325 they are WORSE WAY WORSE THAN THE NORCOS AND HYDROCODONE
YES .. Sleepy. For the past few refills of generic Watson - Activis crap, I take one in the morning about 8 o clock after getting a full nights sleep and about 2 hours later I get so sleepy and have to lie down and close my eyes for about an hour. What the hell? Thank God I am retired. Years ago, when I took a pill, it took away the pain and made me energetic and "normal", ready to start the day. After reading this thread, I now know I am not crazy for complaining about this pill situation, and I hate when you complain to the pharmacist and they look at you like you are nuts. At this point in my life, I shouldn't have to go through this nonsense of getting prescriptions for legitimate pain like I was an addict and then deal with the pharmacy BS. What irks me is how all these rich and "important" people have no trouble getting what they need.
Yep,same problem here. Something isn't right, but with big pharma we may never know. The yellow ones worked....no problems just normal with pain relief. The white ones...just sleepy.
The ip110 works a little better then Watson ones
I'm with you. Been doing a lot of research and you're right there is something wrong and I don't like being lied to about my medications. I've heard many different reasons why this pill isn't working but after40 years in the medical field...I know some thing is not right here.
Amen jan you are most correct! There is definitely something underhanded going on!
I noticed the same. my 7.5 norcos seem like taking a 5 mg or even less. I've been on opiates for ten yrs plus also and have came down from 30 mg roxys to the norco (not by choice) no dr seems comfortable in prescribing strong meds anymore ... but not to sound paranoid i noticed this change in my pills lately and thought it was my tolerance to them but this subject is every where. do you guys think that the pharmaceutical companies are in bed with the government secretly lowering the amount of the actual drug in our pills.... just food for thought. it would make sense to do this trying to curb abuse. remember the changing of the oxy formula, the once best pain killer on the planet is relatively useless and ineffective now hmmmmmm?
Yes I was told by the pharmacist that the generics could have + or - of 20%. Meaning more than likely they are putting less pain med and more fillers.
What is now happening with the companies who produce these meds is that they are producing their medication on the "Fudge factor" rule. They are allowed to produce these medications with a 1.9% increase or decrease to each pill that is produced (guess which one all the companies pick). So you thing you are getting 10 m.g. of the active narcotic but in reality you may be getting as little as 8.2 m.g. to each pill.
I did some searching on my own and it does not have any match for white 853 hydro's they got yellow but I did click on 853 white actavis an that showed me some type of ADHD but I thought I'd just see what I could find an it gave me yellow 853 but under white 853 said no match. So yes I think something fishy going on but that's just me trying to help cause I'm in pain around the clock. I'm on high doses of opiates. I'm on er release an ir for breakthrough pain. I been disabled and on opiates since age 24 an I'm 38 now so I know back pain an alot more than that. So I just thought I'd try to help y'all look and its strange it shows no match under white 10/325 853 but shows match for yellow. Hope I helped. I don't see how I did but I tried. Sorry for you and all others that have to deal with these white 853 whatever they are tabs. Hope you all get things straightened out soon so you all can get some type of relief. Thanks, Ken.
Watson was bought out but has same name.i had similar problem with verapamil. I think it's manufacturer. I switch to different manufacturer. Problem solved
I just listend to a news segment on talk radio speaking of this very subject and their view is outsourcing the manufacturing of the pills to other countries and even the involvment of the russian mafia wtf we just want our meds and the correct ones stick together so our voice is heard
I just had my forever Hydrocodone with Ibuprofen, the 10-200 MG tab switched to the 10-325 MG with Tylenol simply because the majority of pharmacies here either won't carry it, nor even order it, or the usual excuse is it'll be about a week, when if you do wait, it's another excuse! Most recently, two of the CVS pharmacies have told me their shipments were stolen within a week of each other! Why is it so much easier to obtain the Tylenol and not the ibuprofen??
However, my CVS immediately filled the tylenol, stating that the ibuprofen had been ordered, yet again. NOW then, the Quali test brand is a joke. It hasn't even touched my pain, not to mention the fact that since I have asthma/COPD, I should not be taking tylenol as it can have severe adverse effect on my breathing. Why are the pharmacies so eager to stock the tylenol instead of ibuprofen which helps with the inflammation?
Next month will ask my Dr. To switch me back to Hydro/Ibuprofen.
I've been taking very little that does work lately. I do feel that the DEA have got involved and they have scared the makers into putting lower doses of hydrocodone in it pills.also wal greens and Walmart order so many pills the sit for months and seem to be old and therefore weaker.I also get Xanax and have that problem one I never had prior to the new DEA class lowering tactics they put in place..Blame it on the government they find a way to f..k up all things in some lives !!
These pills are sht and eff Walgreens too!!!
Wow, I thought I was the only one that noticed. I've been taking these for years. At the beginning, they worked great. Now I'm having to take four or five at a time to do what one pill used to do. They have definitely changed something and its making us with pain suffer. Its cruel and they should be punished for doing so. My wife also has crushed discs in her back and can barely move at times even after taking her new medication (hydrocodone) and she's saying they're not working any more either. F*** these as*holes.
Yeah, so what can we do about this? NOTHING. All painkillers that have worked for years, no matter what manufacturers are not working anymore because apparently the government has ordered them to be weaker and with more fillers. Even my cholesterol pills all of a sudden make me feel lousy. The pharmacist thinks I'm crazy already. Pills are so hard to get nowadays, but you can buy ALL the liquor you want, get plastered, and nobody cares. Wish I could drink, but can't due to high blood pressure. We people with chronic pain are suffering, have to fight to get painkillers, have to deal with the pharmacies... Oh, what's the use? Can't win.
