New White Watson 853 10/325 Problem - What Is Going On!? (Page 12) (Top voted first)
UpdatedHello all, I am a longtime chronic pain sufferer. I have taken opiates for pain for over 10 years. I recently got a prescription filled (from a well known pharmacy chain in the U.S.) and I was given these new Watson 853 white (not yellow) hydro 10/325 pills. I wanted to ask the forum here if any of you have had the same experience with them as I have. I know there are some very smart people with advanced chemistry knowledge here that may have delved deeper into whats going on with these things. They are ineffective for me. I've taken hydrocodone 10/325 for 10+ years and have never ever had a problem with pills being ineffective but that is the case with these pills. I've had about every brand you can think of and never an issue. Ever. I thought nothing of the color change when I got the pills home from the pharmacy... I've had the yellow Watson 853's before and figured they just changed the coloring. I've seen people complain before about differences in brands before, but I've never experienced anything like that.... Mallies, Watson, Qualitst... all the same to me. I didn't start looking around for answers until I noticed these pills were not working well at all. Something is 100% wrong. Based on some initial research I do see that they have taken the yellow dye out but there are other reports from people with the same issues as I see. Obviously you just don't know how reputable some of these reports are... I've seen posts talk about pharmacists telling the patient that the pills now are structured to release hydrocodone slower (even though its an IR pill... what?)... that Actavis/Watson employees have claimed there could be "kinetic imbalances" in their formulation when upset customers have called them... etc. The only truth I know is that there is something amiss with these things. Any response would be appreciated from you guys.... experiences/info/links to other similar reports, etc. This is the most frustrating thing I have ever run into and it just doesn't make much sense to me at the moment with whats going on....and the implications this could have if these pills have been truly altered by the manufacturer in some way. I know it doesn't mean much to just say it on an internet forum, but I'm not the type to cry wolf over something like this. I realize it could be a bad batch I've received, but it looks initially like the problem is more widespread. TIA for any responses to this thread! I came here because I believe this site has people that have the intelligence/knowledge to get to the bottom of it. Again, any info at all in relation to this would be appreciated greatly.
There's some pain meds without tylenol but doctors don't want to prescribe them much: demerol, morphine, codeine, etc.
Most pharmacies fill so many narcotics, that nothing sits for more than 5 days
BL: Yes, I agree and already know everything you said regarding the variation in generics from reading these posts (mainly yours because you sound like you know what you're talking about). And yes, the pharmacist probably said FDA. I really had you on my mind when I was explaining my position to the pharmacist. And I was really tired, LOL. I am being frugal with the pills, but depending (of course) on my pain level, I just can't tell when I'll need another pill. We have had quite a bit of rain and that honestly lowers my pain threshold. And I have another problem with both of my feet that I'm seeing a specialist for (first time) but that isn't until May. Seems so far away right now. But, I really believe in the power of positive thinking so I'm gonna tell myself I can do it. Mind over matter and all. My dad always told us kids, "Heal yourself well." I used to think he was bat-s*** crazy (pardon my French!). But, now that I'm older & wiser, sometimes it really works!
I got the yellow ones this time.
BigPharmaMessingWithOurMeds, Percocet (oxycodone and acetaminophen) are a little stronger than hydrocodone and acetaminophen.
hoper, the FDA has to approve all prescription meds. In 2014, the FDA made a rule that no RX med made by a pharmaceutical company could contain more than 325 mg Tylenol (acetaminophen). The FDA has to approve all prescription drugs before they can be sold in the United States, including opiate meds. The FDA approves the ingredients in these drugs and the amounts.
The DEA is in charge of how much of an opiate that a pharmaceutical company is allocated each year in order to manufacturer their opiate meds. These amounts are published each in the Federal Register and are open for public comments.
Thanks for the info, you have a great day
BL,
I agree with what you said. 8 mgs maked sense. Kind of ridiculous that our doctors prescribe a particular drug with the particular milligram and yet the drug company is allowed to have they okay to only put X number of milligrams into it. For people with severe pain this can be very difficult. It could cause people to increase the amount of meds they take, which is not good as we all know. I firmly believe they do this as a means of cutting corners and saving money. They don't give a damn that there are patients out there suffering!
Just wonder if anyone has noticed that the white M367 tablets seem to be less effective as they used to be? I know my pharmacist said they order them because they are cheaper than the other brands. Just curious...
All opiates Do Not contain abuse-deterrent properties. The opaites that do contain abuse-deterrent properties are labeled with that information.
They do not manufacturer prescriptions drugs that contain more than 325 mg of Tylenol any longer and have not for over two years.
I too have the same trouble. They don't work for me either and I am so frustrated I could scream.
Make me sleep a lot. I do not like feeling drugged up like this. Something is definitely wrong her. I to have been taking off and on since 1996. Three back surgeries, and hip. Never wanted to sleep like this.
I have had same problem i think they are not the same and i beleive they are getting everyone off them slowly and people dont even know it. I have been on all different stuff sence 1996 and believe me i know what they do and this isn't it. I wish they could feel what we go through when they do this stuff. But know such luck. Good luck
I been using hydrocodone/ acetaminophen10 325 for five years this Watson do not work some work some don't they don't last as long PLEASE HELP
Some pill work and some don't. I been taking hydrocodone/acetaminophen 10325 t for five year what is wrong
AP 27,
Percocet doesn't come without Tylenol, whatever you are taking, it sure isn't Percocet. Maybe you are taking Oxycodone IR, which doesn't contain tylenol, but all Percocet does indeed contain Tylenol along with the Oxycodone. Maybe you had better check your bottle again to see what you are indeed taking.
These pills are fake don't work real powdery and crumble up ..no pain relief at All !
Dear Fusion pain, I had an epidural abscess 27 years ago which makes fusion pain look like a scratch. I had been on the same amount of pain medication from 1990 to 2010. Some where around 20 years. Kind of blows your theory out of the water. Only when they made long-term acting Oxycontin abuse deterrent and then around 2012 they also did something to Roxicodone and Norco. The pharmaceutical industry has done something to ALL narcotic analgesics years ago to make them more abuse deterrent. Anyone who has to take this stuff to tolerate their messed up body's current condition unequivocally knows YES something has been done to ALL narcotic analgesics. My own board certified pain management doctor agrees that something in fact has been done to alter narcotic analgesics euphoria effect which in turn has lessened the analgesic effect which in turn means you're going to be able to tolerate your pain less on the same dosing as before and since doing this people who use to abuse pharmaceutical opiates are now abusing illicit drugs so they can actually feel euphoria again. If what you're saying is true then anyone should be able to take TWO Norcos and get the same analgesic effect, but everyone here on this blog knows that's a bunch of....
TS it's not just hydrocodone. It's all narcotic analgesics that they've done something too to keep people from getting high so they can't abuse it, but the enormous problem is that it doesn't work that well for analgesia if at all now and no one seems to care because they're only concerned about abuse and not analgesia.
You can read other threads about different types of narcotic analgesics and see people complaining about the same thing you're saying about Norco...
Yes, I am exspirencing the same problem with these pills also, only in the last 3 months, they are not as effective as they once where, although they never stopped the pain, but did comfort it some what, customers should be made aware of any changes such as this through the manufacturer or the pharmacist I would think, it is the customer best interest here I would think.
Everyone on here is absolutely right. They think we are pill junkies so they really dont care but when you have chronic pain as I do then you know the difference. And one more thing I would like to add is that they may be right about oxys and roxys leading to something such as illicit drugs if they cant get their drug after doctors have had them on this certain medication for years. But just let me point out, why are they so hard on people who use hydrocodone?
