New To Temazepam-basic Q's
UpdatedMy psych prescribed me Temazepam 15 mg. He also has me on Lexapro 20 mg & Zanax up to 4mg per day. My fiance went to pick up the rx for me and the pharmacist gave a huge lecture on how I should not be taking Temazepam and Xanax. I initially dismissed that info, feeling that my dr would not have prescribed if there was a concern. However, I read all the blah blah on it causing "sleep driving" and all that stuff, which freaks me out so I didn't take the medication. Does anyone know how common those side effects are? Should I even be concerned? **Additional Info: My benzo tolerance is relatively high due to years of anxiety meds. I also take Norco & Ritalin. Any thoughts or experiences are appreciated. Thanks!

Is it possible that your doctor meant it to replace the Xanax? Have you asked them about it?
It is a benzodiazepine, just like the Xanax, so it would be very unusual to have two prescribed, at once.
When a side effect is referred to as very common, it means that it generally affects about 10% of the people that take a medication, common means it occurs in between 1% and 10% of the people and it decreases from there.
I've been unable to find anything about this side effect, did your reading list that it was considered very common, common, rare or etc.?
Other side effects, as listed by the FDA, may include nausea, dizziness and dry mouth. It also carries the risk of being habit forming.
what does 15milligrams of tramapam look like and what is it for
When I take restoril (in the hospital) the treatment team activates the bed alarms so that I do not try and walk to the bathroom and urinate without assistance.
Yes, when taking restoril the nurses must walk you to the bathroom to make sure you do not fall down. they even activate the light system on the bed. I believe this is unnecessary if you sleep on the floor. most hospitals do not allow you to sleep on the floor anymore - theses new regulations are absolutely ridiculous.
driving on restoril!!? good luck finding the car.
Re: tiffany (# 2)
Temazepam (Restoril) is on old hypnotic (sleeping pill). it is a benzodiazepine and is very strong by most accounts. it is very unusual in that the half life is just right so you can take it every night.
this drug is not used as a "first line of treatment" for sleep. this drug is usually used only if nothing else works.

"it would be very unusual to have two prescribed, at once."
not really, temazepam will leave you vulnerable to daytime anxiety. temazepam is a hypnotic benzo, not really good for anxiety.
when it comes to xanxax it is usually best to leave people alone with them (IMHO). they get touchy about that :)
the reason I'm saying this is because with or without the xanax the temazepam will work. never seen anything interfere with it.
