New Subutex Laws (Page 7)
UpdatedI went to see my doctor this week and he told me that the FDA and the DEA had passed a new law for prescribing Subutex. As of July 1st 2015 Subutex can only be given to pregnant woman or to someone with documentation saying they can't take Suboxone. If you don't have that you will be put on Suboxone.
I hear ya. its hard. Especially in the situation you are in with your job and the kids and all. I get it. So is the problem that the suboxone is a lot more expensive than the subutex? And as we know from this thread, they arent handing out the subutex like they used to, correct? At this point, it sounds like you need to do whatever u can to get off those drugs. So you may just have to bite the bullet and buy the subs. {edited for privacy}
Ya I had 2 cop & call my doctor to switch the script to suboxone but they can't see me until next week, Tuesday so I'm still screwed for a week. Just a pain in the ass all around
I'm sorry. I tried to give you my personal email, but the site wouldn't let me. That's why my response below says "edited for privacy". What part of the country are you in? I wanted to try to help you. I understand you having to use, more than you can even know. Hang in there. You are at least wanting to do the right thing, which is not always easy.
Ya it definitely is a pain in the ass, I'm in Pennsylvania, the really horrible thing is the pharmacist will blatantly lie 2 me & say they don't have them or they have to check with mi doctor & then the next place will tell me about the laws & say "I'm going to be truthful with you" and she explained the new law. Y couldn't the 1st 7 or 10 pharmacist tell me that , would have saved me 40$ in gas. Lol.
so have you been able to get any subs? Here in denver we have some great suboxone doctors, and the pharmacies are fairly easy to deal with. i feel very bad for you, having to resort to the very thing you are trying to avoid. hang in there. ugh, i wish u were in denver.
TryingToDoTheRightThings, are you sure that you spoke to a pharmacist at the other drug stores ? Not everyone that deals with prescriptions or are behind the pharmacy counter is a pharmacist. Those that fill Schedule II prescriptions are Registered Pharmacists, but you can't always be sure unless you see them filling your prescriprion or you see their picture on the pharmacy wall identifying them.
Ya because the "help" went right to them & asked them & showe'd them the script like they never heard of it or tell didn't know what to say so they pit it on the pharmacist
This law I do not believe is true because I've been getting prescribed it and if it passed in July why have I been getting it for part 7 months and every body at my dr
I'm on suboxone I would like to know if I quit taking it to detox myself how long are the withdrawals?
It is a real law it passed in July. I would not have posted it if it wasn't. You can Google it if you like or you can look at some of my earlier replys and I posted a link to the bill its self.
Well thats just smart. Now, because suboxone is so expensive. People will be put on methadone which is a nightmare in itself I heard. Way to go DEA... Not!
I live in Texas am addicted to hydrocodone 10/325. They are treating me more with methadone which seems to be working. I've got 5 months to go.
If you were already taking subutex, and was first introduced to it rather than any other... You will remain taking subutex. And it's January from what I'm told...So, if somebody from January this year to present is a new patient to the doctor, they will be given suboxone. The only time subutex will be given is if prego or gets sick from blocker.
Can I just say through experience that methadone is a nightmare to come off and in my opinion you'd be better off on suboxone. Very few people ever come off methadone.
As of July of last year my doctor swaped everyone that he was giving subutex to suboxone. The only people that got to stay in subutex was the pregnant ladys or the people like me that can't take suboxone.
Can be so about July... Around here, most doc's starting as of Jan.
Chris, I've been on Tex for a year too and my doc isn't switching me. Its people that come in after the change has passed. No worries
I'm in the same boat. I started off with vicodin, that set the hook, I was taking 80 a month. Next I was switched to methadone, that went on for nearly 2 years then when that drug was no longer effective I was given oxycodin, then dilaudid. Now 4 years later I'm consumed by opioids. The bad part is I need pain meds just to survive. My lower back is eaten alive by osteoarthritis and one disc is bone on bone. My job requires heavy lifting and I have to do it for the money. I need surgery but I'm too fat according to my surgeon, so I'm in line for gastric sleeve surgery. I'm stuck in an endless circle of opioids and pain that no pills can touch. I also have severe neuropathy in both feet from having Hep.C which I finally got rid of after a 20 year long battle. Sometimes I'm in so much pain I have to take 7 or 8 dilaudids, something I've done on and off for the past 40 years. It's madness with no end in sight. Pain is a motherf***er! I wish I could go back and change things, but it's the path I've chosen and now I'm stuck with it. If you can step down the dosages, and slowly getting off opioids do it man, I'm telling you from experience it's a downward spiral to nowhere. Twice I've overdosed and was on life support, this last o.d. I was in a coma for 2 weeks, my family came by to say goodbye, the doctors said it didn't look good for me, thank God they didn't pull the plug because I somehow fought my way back to the surface. I had to learn how to walk again, and it took me 18 months to fully recover. The whole time I was in a coma the nurses were hitting me up with methadone daily. Talk about madness. Save yourself my friend, talk with your doctor and tell him exactly what you need to do, let them help you to get back to normal, whatever that may be.
Going cold turkey could kill you. Have your doctor step you down.
Please be careful with methadone.....personally I prefer Suboxone....but the methadone WD, which I did cold turkey, after tapering down, is the most horrific, scariest, makes you want to jump off a building, so you could focus on that pain instead! Do some online research...I'm happy you're doing well and made the heroic efforts to even get help!!
