New Cdc Opioid Prescribing Guidelines For 2023
UpdatedRe-Post that might give you a glimmer of hope to get through this Thanksgiving Day Weekend:
Go to this "CDC" Post, read it, and then take it to your Doctor!
"The 2016 guidelines proved immensely influential in shaping policy - fueling a push by insurers, state medical boards, politicians and federal law enforcement to curb prescribing of opioids.
The fallout, doctors and researchers say, is hard to overstate: a crisis of untreated pain. Many patients with severe chronic pain saw their longstanding prescriptions rapidly reduced or cut off altogether, sometimes with dire consequences, like suicide or overdose as they turned to the tainted supply of illicit drugs.
Federal agencies had tried to course correct, making it clear that the older voluntary guidelines were not intended to become strict policies or laws. But doctors and patient advocates also held out hope that the CDC's updated guidelines would undo some of the unintended consequences of the earlier guidance.
This was clearly on the mind of CDC health officials when they announced the new clinical guidelines on Thursday."

Yeah this is wonderful news and I’m happy to see it. I just wanted to add to this and say that one of the doctors in the state I live in fired a patient for expressing SI after his dose was lowered so much it was making him not want to live anymore. He complain to the board of medicine, and the doctor actually was reprimanded. I don’t think you’ve got this guy any pain medication or anything, but this doctor isn’t so quick to fire patient. Don’t hesitate to report them to the board of medicine if they hurt you
Maine has made it very clear that our only option is Methadone or Suboxone, which I cannot take either one! I have been on a consistent pain regimen for 7 years and I can't find a doctor to take over my pain management! I did everything that I was supposed to do-signed & honored my drug contract, passed all of my U/A's and very frequent random pill counts, attended every single appointment, and even had to attend counseling for quite some time. I cannot stand up straight or walk on my own and my foot is so damaged and turned that Orthotics had to develop a crow walker boot for me to walk in, on my crutches to prevent the bone from breaking! I have Severe Osteoporosis and Scoliosis so I cannot get injections because it could break my spine! I also have Crohn's disease, which causes malabsorption, so I have to take double doses of ALL my medication! Because of my history with allergic reactions and my prosthetic heart valve, I cannot get pain stimulators or other foreign objects in my body. I am too high risk for surgical procedures to fix and alleviate the pain. I suffer with severe debilitating pain every single day and my pain medication allows me to tolerate and push through it so I can do physical activity! Without it, I am a vegetable and cannot get out of my wheelchair or recliner! New Hampshire was supposed to have the HB 1639 bill protecting chronic pain patients but the pain management doctor that I went to didn't know a thing about it! He already had his mind made up before I even got there! I brought my records and my doctors were willing and ready to speak with him but he wasn't having either! The first thing he said was, "I am sure you've heard about the doctor in Kennebunkport who was arrested, my hands are tied and I can't help you! I told him that with all due respect, that has nothing to do with me! Dr. Norris is an addiction specialist and I am not an addict! There is a difference between dependency and addiction! I depend on my pain medication to have an equal opportunity at a life that every other American, without severe debilitating pain every single day, has! So much for do no harm! I could have walked out of his office and committed suicide and he could have cared less! I cried the entire drive home back to Maine, thinking I was the crazy one for daring to depend on Opiates to have and live my life! Anyone can walk into Cannabis shops and get all the Marijuana they need to stay high but someone, like me, can't get a legal prescription for the only medication that gives me a quality of life? It just doesn't seem fair! Attorneys are stepping up to represent and defend all the doctors that have been targeted by the DEA and the board of medicine but none of them are willing to represent and fight for the abandon patients that have been left to suffer! It's absolute disgusting!
