This is a new medication that just came out for fibromyalgia. I have several other conditions involving spinal degeneration , herniated discs, arthritus, etc. I've been taking this medication for a little over 2 weeks now and have worked up to the full dose. My biggest symptom seems to be upset stomach but I don't know if it's from the Savella or from de-toxing from 7 other medications that I've been on for over 10+ yrs. Is there anyone else out there that has started this medication that can give me any information that they may have on it? ## I have been on Savella for approximately 30 days post trial period. I am experiencing changes in mood swings and some depression. I am not sure if this is a resulf of being off Zoloft or just the transition time my body is requiri...

I JUST BEGAN THE NEW PRESCRIPTION DRUG FOR FIBROMYALGIA THIS WEEK CALLED SAVELLA IN PILL FORM. MY BLOOD PRESSURE HAS RISEN FROM AN AVERAGE OF 122/70 TO 155/85. HAS ANYONE ELSE HAD THIS PROBLEM? WILL IT REGULATE BACK DOWN AFTER BODY ADJUSTS. OTHERWISE SURE FEEL A WHOLE LOT BETTER THEN WHEN ON CYMBALTA FOR SAME DISEASE. COULD IT BE A WITHDRAWAL EFFECT FROM THE CYMBALTA? I WENT OFF THAT 24 HOURS BEFORE STARTING SAVELLA. HEADACHES, JITTERY, HYPER WERE NOTICED IMMEDIATELY, THAT IS GETTING BETTER EACH DAY. ## Your experience parralels mine. I transitioned from cymbalta to titration pack of savella in one day. Very rough withdrawal. Worked my way up to full dose of Savella in October. BP was rising at half dose, Dr. thought at full dose pain would be lessened and BP would fall. I have always h...

I am just curious as to whether or not anyone else had possibly experienced thrush while taking Savella. I finished a 3 week course of antibiotics and then started Savella about a week after finishing the meds. About a week after I started the medication I suddenly felt as if I was swallowing something in the back of my throat. I thought I had severe dry mouth. I went to the doctor to only find that I had thrush. They chalked it up to the fact I had been on clyndamyacin then went on a week course of Levaquin back to back. I then went on Dyflucan for seven days, but it did not seem to help at all. The doctor then prescribed me another week long dose of Dyflucan along with me taking probiotics and yogurt everyday it still seemed after 11 days it was still out of control. I discontinued th...

I have been taking Savella for a week. I have celiac disease and have all the syptoms of ingesting glyten. Does Savella contain gluten? Savella is manufactured by Forest Pharmaceuticals, subsidiary of Forest Labratories. Any help would be wonderful! Thank you ## Hello, Joe! How are you? And no, from what I've been able to find, it doesn't containing anything with gluten. Has anything else changed concerning your diet or medications? ## No nothing has changed. I started the Savella Titration pack for 6 days. Had all the symptoms of ingesting gluten. With me, everything comes to a grinding halt!!! I increased my Myrilax by 4 times and nothing. Stopped the Savella and within 24 hours returned to normal!!! ## Hi- I am in the process of going off Savella, and I have Celiac's. Fro...

Anyone else develope fatty liver while on savella? 2012 diagnosed with CFIDS and FIBROMYALGIA WITH NEUROLOGICAL SYMPTOMS. Thats a mouthful but my neurologist said that cfids/fm with neurological symptoms is very different than cfids/fm alone. I certainly am clueless..lol. I've tried all the common fibro drugs to no avail. Savella was hard to adapt to for about a month then there was light, so to speak. Not enough help though if it damages my kidneys or liver is my thought. I also take Nuvigil intermittently which is like manna from heaven when i have to think clearly for checkbook balancing and Bill paying. So that's my basics. I am tall and slender, not big on 3 meals a day for sure. But quickly my torso was gaining weight. From 135 lbs to 160. Bloodwork was different than ever...

I suffer from fibromyalgia (for years) amungst other muscle and joint diseases, and have always taken Lyrica, which has greatly helped. Last week I saw a specialist and he decided to keep me on the Lyrica but added Savella. He said it was new and approved for fibro. What he did NOT tell me was that it is an anti depressant. I cant take anti depressants because every single one of them causes ab adverse reaction in me. After 3 days of being on Savella, I began to feel like I was getting the flu. When I woke up on day 4 I thought I had the flu for sure, but later that day, after taking my morning dose of the starter pack, I noticed blood in my underwear, which was weird because I no longer have a uterus to bleed from. (partial hystorectomy, still have my ovarys but thats it) The blood was...

I have had fibro for over 20 years. I had been taking Lyrica for over 6 years and my pain was starting to increase so my Dr. weaned me off of Lyrica and started Savella at 25mg 2x a day. I had horrible side effects including nausea, intense sweating, suicidal thoughts, sleeplessness. Despite that I stuck it out for a month and even tried the higher dose of 50mg 2x a day to see if I would get any benefits. But the side effects got worse and were unbearable and my pain levels were through the roof. I had horrendous flare ups along with those side effects. I couldn't handle the medication any longer and have now weaned myself off. I'm now considering going back on Lyrica. I would not recommend this drug. I've had issues with other anti depressants in the past so this may not be...

anyone with experience using riluzole for treatment resistant depression ## Hello, Pance! How are you? I've not taken it, but I can tell you that case studies have shown that it may help with some mood and anxiety disorders, since it has been shown to have antidepressant properties. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, headache, weakness and abdominal pain. Has your doctor recommended that you try it?

I am very allergic to Sulfa--Does Savella have sulfa in its list of ingredients? ## No, Savella does not, even in the inactive ingredients. If they do use it in some form, they have to make this known due to the problems presented with allergies, such as yours. However, I did double check just to be certain and it is not listed as a component. Is there anything else I can help you with? For the future reference of anyone else, here's a list of the inactive ingredients: dibasic calcium phosphate, povidone, carboxymethylcellulose calcium, colloidal silicon dioxide, magnesium stearate, and talc. ## Is Savalla about the same as Lyrica and Cymbalta; I have severe fibromyalgia and unable to take Lyrica or Cymbalta. ## I did not have any allergies. I started on Savella for fibro, only took...

I am starting to wean off of Savella tomorrow. The side effects are just more than I can stand. I've been on it for over six months and I have heard a few horror stories. I'm sacred it may be hard for me to come off. I'm kinda scared. Any one know about this? ## Hi Karen, You seem to be doing the right thing. Usually for drugs like this the safest way to stop taking them is to tapper off them, if possible. Some medications can be taken in fractions (actually cut into pieces) and these smaller pieces can be taken in place of the regular dose for a period of several weeks until the body is no longer dependent upon them. In addition to that, I'd also suggest making yourself a tapering schedule on a calendar to track your progress and keep you on the right path to complete y...

I was on Savella for about 6 months, and have decided to go off of it. I took the titration pack for a week, and it has been over a week since I took the last pill. In the mornings I am fine, but as the day goes on, my head starts to spin, and gets worse with movement, and then causes nausea. Any idea how long this is supposed to last?? ## Hello, Tmos! How are you? That was a rather rapid taper, so the withdrawal effects aren't surprising. It may take a month or so, before you start to feel more normal. Why are you going off of it? Did you experience bad side effects? ## Hey Verwon- I am good (outside of the dizziness). Thanks for responding. I did the taper that the Dr told me to do, which was reverse the starter pack starting on day 7. I am going off for several reasons... 1) does...

I was hopeful about Savella for depression and fibromyalgia, but every time I took the evening dose, I would wake up and have to vomit, it was rough. I stopped taking the evening dose and it has done nothing for me, but make me sick so we are switching to Brintellix - back to square one now. Have to get the depression under control and then deal with the pain. Fun, fun... ## While I understand that it can be quite frustrating, it makes sense to get the depression under control first, then to treat the pain. Depression has been proven to contribute to and/or cause pain, so if needs to be treat first, before your pain can be properly evaluated and treated. Once your moods are doing better, your pain may not be so intense. Do you have any questions or concerns? ## I agree! I hope the Brint...

I just recently visit pain managment doctor and he put me on some medication that I have been on in the past roxycodone, methadone for the break thru pain i still am in so much pain is there something new out there to try the pain is intolerable.I'm on medicaid and was told medicaid dont cover certain things can someone here in florida please advice me what to do since Ia'm new here from Alaska ## There really is nothing new as far as narcotic pain medications, you are on pretty much the strongest available with the Oxycodone in the Roxicodone. The Methadone is also very strong. And yes, it is also true that Medicaid does not cover some medications, such as the time released Oxycodone, due to the problems with abuse and diversion of it. It really sounds like your doctor is presc...

My doctor has me on 600 mg Neurontin a day, plus 150mg of Lyrica a day, plus 100mg of Savella a day... I am always fog brained, drunk feeling, tired, nauseated. I have been on this combination for atleast three years now. I am however just now finding out that, lyrica and Neurontin are the same medication, and that savella is just like lyrica. I'm confused on this, I need to know if I'm being overdosed??? ## Hello, Kyleigh! How are you? I would call it being overdosed, but it does sound like it is too much for you. Lyrica and Neurontin aren't the same medication, but they are in the same drug class, so taking both of them makes no sense. Lyrica contains the active ingredient Pregabalin. Learn more Lyrica details here. And Neurontin contains the active ingredient Gabapentin. ...

I took three week's to wean off savella to try natural remedies ..I'm. Being weepy...very sleepy all the time ...could it be caused. By stopping savella? ## Sleep problems (such as insomnia) are actually listed as a side effect of Savella. So I get the sense that "sleepiness/drowsiness" could be an opposite reaction to that after stopping the medication. Since Savella is classified as an antidepressant drug, it likely has some sort of stimulating effect on the mind that eventually diminished as you weaned off of it. Not sure if 3 weeks was long enough for tapering off, but if that's the only symptom you're experiencing I'd try having a multivitamin or tea as a temporary 'pick-me-up'. I hope this helps! Natural remedies are the way to go! :) ## Thanks ...

I'd like a chart/calendar to learn how to taper off 100 mg Savella. Cannot seem to find anything on the net. ## Jolene...what symptoms are you experiencing while coming off of Savella? I too, am coming down off of Savella and am sicker than I have ever been. ## Headaches - more than usual - teary eyed, more aches and pains. I'm going to try a Nature Sunshine product for Fibromyalgia. ## Due to the severe nature of withdrawals, in my honest opinion it would probably be wise to discuss this type of approach with your doctor. However, usually for drugs like this, the safest way to stop taking them is to wean off them if possible. Some medications can be taken in fractions (actually cut into pieces) and these smaller pieces can be taken in place of the regular dose for a period of s...

Has any one been prescribed savella for depression only? I would like to know how it has worked for you and if you find it helpful. I do not have fibromialga, but do have chronic pain. Thank you for any feedback you can give. I cant find anything out there for just the use of depression and Savella. ## i just started it today ill keep you posted ## I am going to be taking savella for a 12 week trial. If it shows improvement in my major depression, perhaps I will write here again. ## I have battled with depression/anxiety for over 20 years. I have recently developed pain, which was diagnosed as arthritis. I have been on Cymbalta for several years and it has helped my depression, however it does not help my arthritis pain or maybe it's fibromyalgia, don't know. Savella helps relie...

I have been taking Savella for over a year. The Dr. just increased the MG the price is 95.00 for one month. We are on a fixed income. I can't find any help on the web. Does anyone know of coupons that are a great savings? ## I'm sorry, I've done some searching, but haven't been able to find anything. Learn more Savella details here. There used to be a coupon available that your doctor could get for you, but I am no longer seeing it listed on their website. Do you have any insurance to help with the cost? ## yes and my cost is 95.00
