Need To Find Good Brand/manufacturer Of Sertraline (generic Of Zoloft)
UpdatedI've noticed an increasing despondency despite taking 200mg of Sertraline/day. This has increased over the years. I don't know what brand I'm taking but I'm pretty sure the brand is not as good as what I was taking in the past. Will have to call Costco tomorrow to find the brand.
My tablet is yellowish with a weird sign on one side and a "1" and an "8" on each side of the perforation on the other side. Cannot manufacturer name on bottle. Ever heard of North +? Might be the brand.
Does anyone know of an effective brand of Sertraline that is giving you good results? I know Watson was a good brand name but they were taken over by Actavis. I have no idea in the Sertraline area what a GOOD BRAND might be.
Anyone??? Help will be so appreciated.

Hello, Denise! How are you? I'm sorry about the problem that you're taking.
If you've been taking this dosage for a long time, your body might have become tolerant to it, so it's no longer working as well for you. If you refer to tolerance information from the NIH and the FDA, you'll see that this is completely normal and happens to everyone, with any medication that they take for a long period of time. Thus, it is most likely time for you to try a different medication.
Side effects for Zoloft/Sertraline are listed by the FDA as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, weight changes and mood swings.
Have you tried any other antidepressants, or just this one?
It took me FOREVER to find Zoloft -- tried Wellbutrin, Prozac and 60 thousand others who'd work for a week or so, then nothing. I simply don't want to do any big changes.
What I did was to try another manufacturer of Zoloft. Instead of getting Newstar, I switched to Green Mountain's Sertraline. I think when I first began many many years ago, I may actually have been on Zoloft.
Very hard to know when it's the "holidays" or an off day or two etc. I'm feeling better, but I did go out yesterday and that always helps.
So you don't know any brands that people seem to do well on?
My fiancé currently takes the one manufactured by Lupin Pharmaceuticals and it works quite well for him.
He's been taking it for 5 months, now, ever since moving cross country to move in with me. :-)
Have you ever tried theirs?
Hi Verwon,
No never heard of that one. I'll see if Costco can get that for me. I switched from Northstar to Green Mountain, not sure if it's working better. So glad the Lupin is helping your fiancee. Thanks for the tip.
You're very welcome! Please post back and keep me updated!
Re: denise (# 2)
I think you meant to say generic Sertraline made by Greenstone. I did some research and found out that Pfizer, the creator of Zoloft, owns Greenstone LLC. I noticed zero side effects when transitioning from Zoloft to Greenstone's version of Sertraline (identical product?). For some reason, Greenstone (owned by Pfizer) decided to stop making Sertraline in July 2017. Maybe the pharmacy chains were getting generic Sertraline at cheaper prices from Aurobindo, Cambria & Lupin. Many of us had to suffer for months not knowing why we were feeling agitation, restlessness, confusion, insomnia and ultimately depression while taking these inferior generic versions of Zoloft. Complaining to the FDA is very difficult. A Class Action Lawsuit may be necessary to resolve this act of inhumanity by generic manufacturers of Sertraline. How many people have given up hope while taking medication which is supposed to stabilize Depression and Anxiety?
Re: Tony (# 6)
Thx Tony! I have been taking Sertraline 100 mg for several years and it seemed to work well. However, it is not working nearly as well for the past few months. I called Walmart to get the manufacturer name, but the Pharmacist was unable to find it. After reading your post and People's Pharmacy complaints about Sertraline, my guess is that what I'm taking now is not the same medication I have taken in the past. I have contacted my Dr. and requested a new prescription for Zoloft (non generic) and will try to fill my prescription from a Canadian pharmacy. Thx again for your help.
