Need Help In Being Able To Help To My Partner Who Is Now Back On Suboxone (Top voted first)
UpdatedMy parther for 4 years now engaged to be married next year. He is an ex-addict. Weaned off sub for two year before we went overseas 6 months ago, came back and he started acting very strange lying etc.... apparently the same thing happen before we met when he got back from an overseas trip he reverted back to drugs. Now he is back on the suboxone (which I am proud of him for doing cause he did it on his own accord) I did not know that he was taking drugs, he hid that pretty well although I had my suspicions. Now when I found out he was back on the suboxone I asked him to be honest with me and tell me if he went back onto hard drugs, he did take over the counter codiene but I know that he was on a lot more than just codiene... I have not confronted him with what I know as I think it is best to let sleeping dogs lie... and not bring up the past I think he was only doing it for a coulple of months before he reliased he was getting himself into trouble and got the help. But he continously lies to me about things that I know are a lie and even when I tell him he is lieing. I don't know what to do, last night he comes home and for the past week and a bit he has been a couch potatoe again and am now wondering if he is doing both?. I love him very much and am not going to give up on him but just want some advice on how to handle this and what to do. I have never taken drugs so do not know what it is like and what to look for if he is doing both. I have seen a needle mark quite some time ago when he must have been on it for those couple of months but have not seen anything since, I know they are good a hiding track marks to a certain extent.

What you may not understand is that Suboxone actually contains a very potent narcotic, Buprenorphine.
Thus, it may cause some of the same issues that were caused by the other stuff he was taking.
Learn more Suboxone details here.
It couples it with Naloxone, which neutralizes other opiates to prevent someone being able to take them, while they are under treatment with it.
But that means that it does have the potential to be habit forming itself and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation.
Are there any other questions or concerns?
Yes he is on both of those naxlone and suboxone 12mg. Thank you Verwon for replying to me. I was thinking of going to counseling myself to get help on how to deal with this. Like I said I a. Not going to give up on my partner. But I do find it difficult cause I do not know how to deal with it. And the trusting side of things.
people lie because they are afraid. and being an ex-addict, when you are on drugs you will lie, cheat, do anything to get that drug ESPECIALLY if you are going to get sick from not taking it and believe me that sickness is worse than child birth its the most painful thing ive ever experienced. i would leave it alone and let him know how proud you are and focus on the positive or he might get overwhelmed and just say screw it im going back to drugs. which to this day still crosses my mind even tho i am clean and not going back.
but it does help when my bf says how proud he is that i made it thru . i def wouldnt like someone to keep nagging and asking questions because its embarassing . doesnt help.
What country are you in? You cannot get codeine in the United States if you don't have a prescription.
